A local expert offroad race isn’t that fast. I think most would agree.
Zach osborne didn’t race a club level offroad event.
In 2006 I won a moto at Lake Whitney (10th OA that class) and Oak Hill (3rd OA that class) in 450c. I raced C class nationally and was immediately a top 5 B rider locally when I moved up. C class is stupid nationally.

I’m talking a local/club Expert Offroad racer. My point is this thread is about National Motocross classes. A club/local Offroad Expert would not (most of the time) be a Intermediate-Pro national motocross racer.
Now a GNCC professional offroad racer... sure. Good chance they are pretty good at moto too.
I forgot to mention MX, but no problem (I said it literally about 2 posts later). I said NATIONAL. If you are a NATIONAL caliber Intermediate-Pro Offroad racer, very impressive. If you fall on the pro end of that, it means you race guys like Russell
A national level MX Inter-Pro example is Levi Kitchen or... Eli tomac.
A National level Offroad Inter or Pro... Russell.
I know you voted for Inter-Pro so I’m glad to see that’s the level you see yourself on.
The guys winning my local series are lucky to be midpack in Pro2 at nationals.

Me, I suck for 50 years now, but still going.
I really am a slow old 55 year old that’s races MX, and started Flat Track racing a couple of years ago.
Been racing for 40 years, now it’s great to get out with friends on the weekend, the bench racing is better than the actual races.
Not actually sure what the original poster was getting at,
We also have a beginner/D class here on the west coast. Most of the beginners/D class do 95% of the jumps on every track, the top 5-10 Novice/C guys would finish top 10-15 in a full gate of intermediates/b and the top 5 Intermediates/B would finish really well in a full class of pros/a at each local series.
I’ve said it before and will continue to say it over and over again, out west, the Novice/C class is no joke! It’s not like other areas of the country where the C guys are a bunch of so called “squids” or newer/beginner racers that so many seem to make fun of.
If you are so much better than national level C class riders post up the results to prove it
I see there's a 40+ b/c also but I just stick to getting beat up in the regular 40+
Way back in the day before 2 strokes were pushed out, back in 2005 my last year racing I WAS a 250B top 10 rider in Michigan Dist 14
A lot has changed in the sport, i feel people are way faster now than they were back then in all classes.
Fitness is way up for most and equipment is so good right now.
Video age imo has taken the sport to a higher level/class ability too. You can now watch and study everything/everyone and learn some to help speed progression. The level of people you ride with also escalates your game, ride up a class on open practice days to help your speed in your specific class.
Either way, whatever class you race, just enjoy the ride and time with like minded common interest people. Afterall, moto crowd/scene is THE BEST there is! 🤙
