Has Vohland completed Road to SX?

If I'm correct in understanding the latest rumors, Max Vohland will be under the Red Bull KTM tent on a 250 for 2021. But I find it very hard to believe that Vohland has his Road to Supercross points. He raced 125 B/C at Loretta Lynn's this year, which means that there's no way he raced A class in Road to SX in 2020. Was his trip to Matterley earlier this year for EMX125 a loophole to work around the Road to SX? Or am I missing something?

The road to SX is a complete joke. Overseas riders get a "pass" as do other top level riders. It is a way to essentially force top riders to show up for Arenacross and then to the Amateur days at SX races. That would be fine if it was enforced, but it's selective to say the least.

Mini O's will be a points race this year, counting towards 2021 SX eligibility...
I have no idea if this is for this year only, but I'm assuming it is. No free pass or VIP treatment for Max...

Have you seen him ride. He doesn't need a "Free Pass" or "VIP Treatment" or be an "Alternate"

He will do what he needs to do to qualify to be on line fair and square. It may not be through SX futures though.

Is Road to SX even a thing anymore? I thought it went away when the AX series got all jumbled up.

It's not an issue if he is good enough. There is no doubt about that. Just the BS around qualifying being consistent

I remember a certain Suzuki rider that was brought straight from the B class to the pros with zero points toward his pro license.

What was his name again? I think it rhymed with Schmyan Schmungy.

Just for clarification, the OP's question was answered by someone in the Vohland camp. He will be racing SX next year and he will be getting points by racing the Mini Olympics. Tallon told me the same about a month or so ago but I didn't want to post any info in case I miss heard what he was saying.

44l.The AMA may issue a license to any rider who does not meet the above criteria at its sole discretion.This option will only be used in very rare occasions when special circumstances apply.

The AMA can do whatever they want. It is right in their rule book.

They would not be skirting any rules if they went straight to 250 SX. It has been clearly stated that if a person has enough talent to get on a major team, they are good enough to enter. The whole thing was to make sure qualified people were out there and not some Joe Blow rolling triples trying to qualify and being a danger to their self and others.

I always thought those rules were mainly to insure that everyone is fast enough to be there and prevent someone who is 12 sec a lap slower than everyone from getting in..Like the dude on the Kawi that was somehow grandfathered in and used to go out in the 450 practice and literally role around.

It sounds like supercross may be a little different this year. Somewhat alternating West and East rounds. Not your typical start on the west then eventually go east after a couple months of west rounds.

I could be wrong here, but didn’t guys like forkner and Sexton have to go through the “road to SX” in arenacross? Like Matthes always said, it was just a way to get “future stars” racing at arenacross to draw attention and ticket sales for feld, if so.

When AX was done they moved the qualification over to the amateur SX...the point total needed is low and can be obtained at one event by doing well in multiple classes.

I'm pretty sure the AMA will do whatever KTM asks. That Roger guy seems to know a thing or two, and if Max is his guy, he will be on the gate.
