Jett on an HRC bike makes perfect sense, but why would they also put Hunter on one? I don’t feel like he has done anything to deserve that opportunity, especially if guys like J-Mart are getting left out in the cold. Is it because the Lawrences’ contracts are with HRC, while the other riders’ contracts are with Factory Connection Racing? Or is Honda afraid Jett will walk unless they find a place for Hunter?

Well, Hunter is the only other guy on the team to win a race, and Jmart is getting a 450 option allegedly at Pro Circuit, that's not going to happen at HRC.

I thought maybe I forgot something, but I went back to the Racer X Vault to check, and I didn’t see a race a race win for Hunter in either of the two seasons he’s spent here. Not a whole ton of results either, since he missed so many races due to injuries.
As for J-Mart, in the last interview I heard with him about a week ago, he indicated that he would like to stay where he is, given the opportunity. I just can’t feature that a team would take Hunter over J-Mart unless there is a hidden factor we aren’t aware of. I hope Guy B chimes in with some educated speculation.

There is no way in hell will Honda let Jett go to another manufacturer with the speed he's shown indoors and out this year. He's just so exciting to watch.

Hunter won two motos last year and had at least a pair more podium finishes. Missed a quarter of the year due to injury

Hunter has had moto wins and Moto podiums As well as overall podiums in his first Rookie outdoor season last year actually look at the ama results not a racer x vault they can get stuff wrong I have seen it in some write ups ....Pala his 2nd race herein USA would have been a podium overall but bike broke in 1st moto , Highpoint ,Millville Were all moto wins and overall podiums not best season this year with luck an injuries but was getting back to speed was already top 5 over all other honda guys and everyone else except for main star boys For at last 3 rounds bar Jeremy and Jett And his moto bike dnf at ww so yes he isn’t Jeremey BUTthink about the money Jeremy Would be on as being a vet in this class with his results would be just a tad higher than what Hunter is on ? Makes perfect sense for Honda to take Hunter instead of Jeremy hey they prob get 2 for the price of one when they are all downsizing from Geico . And also Jeremy is wanting 450 there is no room at Honda with chase being so young so why not go where he can move to 450 or one that can pay the money he wants .There is a lot more to teams than just what you see on paper the weekend before ,for example Money, Ages, future races when others age out ect and past races . I am pretty sure Jeremy will be playing this strategically for his future seeing he is one of the oldest in the class and maybe it was his choice ? maybe they did offer him the spot and he wanted more or a year on 450 ? we only get gossip here on vital no one really knows what goes down .

Again from luck poor Kid was testing engines for the team after his 2nd overall at Millville and bike seized over a jump Not from him crashing or his error .

I would've sworn he had won an overall, but you're right. Just a couple moto wins. But still, better than anyone else on the team. When he's healthy he's the obvious choice of those left, and being tied to Jett makes it easier. I just hope the injuries don't continue to follow him.

I honestly think if Jett was nt Hunter s brother. Hunter would not be getting signed . I am sure honda is mad to keep Jett at all costs . As far as Hunter . I think some days he will be great ,some ok ,and really bad others, just like he has been since he starred.

Ps. If i hear Mathes say Hunter finished 2nd in mx2 championship one more time i ll go mad , i think load s of people in the US think he did . He was no where near that

Pretty sure the Lawrence family wanted to keep the kids on the same team, I’m sure this was a big part of their (Honda’s) decision.
Shimoda will land on a good bike, maybe Penrite Honda ? Hopefully Mumford will land a good ride somewhere.
Martin to PC, seems to have some legs.....

Id hate to be Hunter, supposedly getting or keeping rides because of his younger brother. If the parents are really playing that card they need to know its not helping Hunter at all.

If Jett wasn't Hunter's brother he wouldn't have gotten the Geico ride in the first place. At least not that early. Goes both ways

Keeping Hunter on a good ride isn't helping him at all? That's an interesting take.

Hunter has been down a bit this year due to injuries, but last year at times was the next best behind AC.

This year Shimoda finishes 11th, Mumford finishes 12th and all of Vital agrees they're both unlucky Geico is folding and deserve to keep factory rides.
Hunter finishes 13th despite not racing the last round and DNF/DNS at Lorettas 2 in a shortened series, and vital claims he is only getting rides because his younger brother is faster than him for the first time in their lives?

I’m pleasantly surprised by the four posts above; love it when facts and reason make it into a Vital thread.

That’s what I was gonna say! Haha Jett got signed at CLS Kawasaki, Suzuki MX2 and Geico Honda because of Hunter. If Jett situation can help Hunter once it’s good.

Anyone know if the shoulder popping out twice is a pre-existing prior to the start of the outdoors?

Wow. The disrespect towards Hunter from some people is suprising. Like some already mentioned, you seem to forget what he has done in years before.

Exactly. Luckily a few more guys get it and see his potential. He had extremely bad luck this year, but last year he was solid. I consider his talent as equal as Jett. They both can win races and championships. It just shows how other circumstances can affect someone's career regardless of his talent. The AMA has a great future ahead racing wise, 250 class is stacked outdoors. Hopefully most of these guys will make a solid transition to the 450's

I hadn't but you saved me reminding others. So much potential, just ran into a wall of bad luck since moving to America.
And the fact that he straight up beat the 2020 AMA 450 champion at the 2017 MXoN on a shitty old Suzuki.

Actually we don't even have to look at what he has done years before. Look at last week. 5-4 moto scores with a shitty shoulder that could pop out at any time (eventually did). Hunter 100% deserves a factory bike.
