Not even remotely close. You'd need to cover damn near the whole Nevada desert to make a dent in what Nuke, Nat gas, and Coal generate.

The mirrors focus the suns energy on that one central point in the middle, would only affect something flying close to that point.

Yes! Let's turn a National Park into a powerpalnt.

There's 3 of these plants right at Stateline...Cali-Nevada on I-15. That's where the "Bird Poof" stories came from.

Orrrr we could just leave the desert alone and stop building more housing

People romanticize moving inland for "muh freedom," then freak out that they have to take their own trash to the dump, the only places to go after 8PM are bars, casinos, and Walmart (which is an hour drive), their junkie neighbors keep a constantly barking dog on a chain in the front yard, and their kid's elementary school is next to the strip club bc zoning is for Marxists.

I’m with Gavin. Lets keep shutting down and not permitting Nuclear facilities, shutting down fossil fuel burning power generation plants and lets depend on two sources that are out of your control wind and sun. Or maybe the electricity fairy will sprinkle everyone with a little.... better yet lets figure out how to get water to flow uphill un assisted so it can inturn flow downhill and create an endless supply

Even 20 years ago, the technology we have today would seem like a fairytale. Yes, fossil fuels are still very much our present. But technology is developing at a breakneck pace, and there's no reason to believe that we cant develop viable large-scale alternatives in the future.

I was watching rogan last week and they said it’s probably double that on account of how they count it.

I try getting down to California to go riding and spear fishing every couple years. I’m originally from Carson. My family and friends are still down there.
I left in 98 at twenty and, haven’t regretted it.
I moved to Oregon then in 08, work dried up and I moved further north.
When I go back, I see my friends and family are struggling financially. Some are longshoremen, truck drivers, work for schools, union laborers, electricians etc. It seems the tradesmen do better then the rest. Unfortunately being in the trades myself, returning isn’t an option as the pay for a licensed commercial plumber, who’s also a foreman, the pay is more then 35% less. Considering the housing market is more expensive there and pay is less, returning isn’t in the cards for me regardless of how much I miss everything about it. The riding is great, the beaches are awesome, and the sun is almost always shining.
I commend the people who make it work there. It’s tough for many I’d assume. As previously mentioned, I make it a point to return for the things I’ve enjoyed while living there every so often. Staying there and struggling is why I’m still in the PNW. Maybe one day I’ll return after winning the lotto. For now, I’ll enjoy my vacations there.

Trip to Hungry Valley from last October. We could’ve got a fifth wheel but, opted to use tents like when I was younger and rode there. Sentimental I guess.

Natural gas is still a fossil fuel so can't have your Prius and eat it too. Go reference more links. Copy and paste. You'll find how bad natural gas is to drill & extract. But like most arguments or positions people take they close their eyes to things they don't want to see.

Is natural gas worse than gasoline?

Up front no, it might even appear to be better. However, it depends on how much methane is leaked during production. I've read some studies that natural gas is equivalent to coal on the greenhouse front. There is not much infrastructure in place either and someone has to pay for that too. I don't want to pay for it either. Cars doesn't make sense. There is a reason those civics didn't last.

A better approach use vehicle less. The system needs to be thought through better. There is no need for so many cars to be on the road. Walk more when you can. Taking away dirtbikes is not a solution.

I would rather walk than drive an EV is back to my point. Do I have gasoline engines in vehicles? Yes, but those are already produced for my old ass and I don't need to have the environment hurt again for me to have a new vehicle.

Thanks.

Technology Toyota uses for the Prius is fantastic imho. Love my Prius. If a significant number of all vehicles shut down when stopped or slowed, imagine the improvement.

Southern California is awesome! Name another place where you can experience beaches, deserts and mountain forests all within an hour drive? I especially love San Diego. Living next to the border is the best thing ever. You can be in another country and experience a whole new dynamic. I can’t tell you guys how much money I’ve saved by getting my vehicles repaired in Mexico. Overall, wouldn’t trade Cali for any other place.

We’ve been at a stale mate for quite some time and as we speak there is nothing on the horizon that has been proven to be economical and viable, so to say that in 15:years that there will be something to save the say is a bit of a stretch all the while they’ll be rolling blackouts as more of these “green” vehicles will need to be charged at random hours no matter If the power company say says between x and y when they don’t dictate the work hours of people needing to charge between y and z.

In the last 10 years California has increased solar energy from about 0.5% of its electricity generation to about 20% of its electricity generation. I wouldn't call that a "stale mate".

What I meant was, we have’t gained anything by going solar all were doing at the moment is replacing it at best. We have rolling power outages still... all the while we are calling mandates to shut plants down and buy electric but on the flip side these will require more demand on a system that currently can’t keep up. The little meme above screams volumes and the top car should say gasoline on it as well for folks that can’t relate
