Dorene Payne, Royal Lake, Co MX Natl. 1983 in the flippin' 500 class. I raced MX for 31 yrs, 27 of those in the A class. In those years approx. 10 minutes was spent on a 500 before promptly giving it back to it's rightful owner.

Good for her!

There’s always one person who can’t be happy for others.

they mentioned on the broadcast that she is the second woman to qualify for a pro national. I have a feeling that Duncan chick from Austraila might have done it years ago at hangtown maybe? correct me if i am wrong but its still awesome

She raced years back in an exhibtition womens race at one of the Nationals (Hangtown perhaps??) on her YZ125 and cleaned them all up, but correct she never raced in the mens race.

I remember that, the other girls didn’t even get to see her! So fast! I feel like she was actually faster at a young age than now. I remember in 2016/17 she won the woodville GP in the 250 class against some world class riders! She was running lap times that were as fast as Jake Nichols! Courtney is really impressive! That’s sad that she is crashing a lot. I would love to see her race a few round of EMX250, she wouldn’t do bad!

Nope and I didn't say I could.

I do know that if my son or daughter was trying to qualify for national and they didn't get in being the fast 36 or get top 4 in the consolation race their ass would be loading and cleaning up the truck and trailer and on the way to next one. Not standing by the gate kicking rocks wondering if all the racers are gonna show up for moto 2 so they can say they raced a national.

Technically she is an unqualified person in the race.

So.... being 45th fastest makes her (or anyone else) not worthy of lining up at the gate if the opportunity presents itself according to the AMA Pro Racing/MX Sports rulebook ? Seriously, WTF is wrong with you ?

She was 45th...regardless, she went to the line and there was a spot available so she got to ride.

I don't give a damn if she was 99th, it is within the rules and she got to gain some experience. Hopefully it will help her down the road.

Davey Coombs reports that the last time a female competed in motos was Doreen Payne in the 500 class of the Denver National in 1983, when the 125, 250 and 500 classes all competing on the same day. That is considered the only other time a female raced in the motos in the “modern era” of the series.

But do you have a son or daughter who races, and works as hard as Jordan does? I would think if you did, you would be proud of your daughter for getting that chance because she was indeed next in line.

Great job on her! That's an amazing accomplishment.

Serious question though... why do some feel compelled to take the bait and not just ignore the troll? that just perpetuates negativity.
Feel free not to answer this question by the way, as it is intended to be a suggestion.

Well Dr Freud....because professional Asshats need to be called out occasionally. And I personally know how difficult it is to get yourself into the position to make a National gate, so I take offence to someone who obviously has no clue and feels the need to belittle ones accomplishment.

He was right. She qualified 45th-fastest. And then she finished 9th in the consolation, so was essentially 45th-fastest in that regard as well. (36 qualify straight to motos plus top 9 consolation = 45th.)

My son, who made it to Loretta's this year in C class, has had the privilege to ride with Jordan a couple of times. She is fast...unbelievably fast! She will smoke most people.

Funny you use the word "technically." Because technically she DID qualify for moto two by virtue of the rules. By virtue of the rules set forth by the AMA.

Regardless, props to her for kicking ass. Is she as fast as Dylan F? No. But then again only about 5 people are haha

And read her story on RacerX. She is not a "homeschooled living at a moto academy" kid. She only rode weekends until this year.

My bet is she will "technically" qualify for a national next summer.

Aww, someone can’t come to grips with the fact there are women out there that would whoop him on the track.

Fat finger...I meant to type 45th agreeing with Oldpro. Like I said regardless she was there waiting and ready to ride. I like JJ a lot, super nice young lady. Don't care too much for her dad, but that's a different story for a different time.

The way I understand it is like this...

Doreen Payne made the 40-rider field in '83. But I was told that there were 41 riders entered, and one dropped out, so she made it in without having to qualify.

Jordan said this was her best qualifying effort, and she was having some bike issues. She also said that she earned her Supercross points, but may not try there in the coming year, to make sure she has time to prep properly.

That's fine, but I think she done well and also beat quite a few guys in the race. I think she should get and deserve some acknowledgement. She trained and sacrificed time for a specific task, to be quitting and loading up with the potential to still be able to race is self defeating in my books. I teach my son to always put forth the effort, sometimes things work out, sometimes they don't. But I will be sure he will not give up or quit. Good for her for remaining hopeful and not for "cleaning and loading up her trailer and on her way to the next one". It takes effort and sometimes luck. You say son or daughter, do you have any kids? You'll do every thing you can to help your kids achieve their dream, even if it means having yourself and bike prepared to be an alternate if the chance presents itself.

Looking at her qualifying and moto lap times, she was getting around the track just fine. Congrats to her on getting a moto in at a National!! No asterisks. She earned the opportunity.

I watched her at Millville and she looked just fine. Good for her to get in as alternate and race a moto. Maybe next time she will qualify by time or in the LCQ.
