Permanently make the National season August-October who says no? Weather has been absolutely beautiful (outside of lorettas) and the scenery at Millville was awesome yesterday with the leaves changing color. It also gives the riders a nice little break between SX and MX and they’d have all of November and December to rest and test for supercross

Let’s do it. Spectating is much more enjoyable without needing to siphon 8 pedialytes through a backpack. Can only imagine the rider benefit.

Start the series at Redbud July 4th weekend. Would give the riders a few extra weeks to take a break...or over train.

Where would you put Monster Cup?

Yeah not sure why they haven’t done this a while ago. Gives break between sx and Mx and another break before sx again instead of one long break between. Plus better weather. What’s the downside?

This fall weather is so perfect for Moto. I’d be curious what the riders think about that idea.

Would Moto begin to mean more in the states if it was the first season after a break?

Would it still get on TV during a normal Fall with a normal sports schedule?

Why not? Second motos are still delayed from TV even with minimal college football. Put both motos on MAVtv live with a tape delay on NBC sports as it fits in their schedule. You can't tell me this would change viewership numbers anymore than the tape delay.

Once in a blue moon, we virtards actually think of great ideas. Someone contact DC and tell him we actually have a wonderful idea. WW might be so much better this weekend unlike last year when it was 110+

Somebody made the comment that no promoter wants to go past Labor Day. With school starting back, football season, hunting season going on. But it beats the hell out of 100 degrees in Florida

I went to Millville and Ironman this year. The weather was absolutely perfect, it was so nice not having to sweat my ass off standing there for 6 hours. I also think you’d see an increase in attendance which for motocross that probably is more financially beneficial than any tv viewership

I know there are a lot of reasons not to, but I love this idea. The whole time I was watching the Spring Creek broadcast, all I could think of is how beautiful those changing leaves were and how it just looked like MOTOCROSS!

Pros:
Cooler temps/less suffering for the riders and maybe more in-person fans, give the riders and teams more time to test and train, give riders more time to heal from injury during SX, give the FANS a chance to actually get excited about a new series taking shape instead of banging into it straight after a 17 week SX grind, better alignment with MXdN and the end of MXGP series.

Cons:
TV? Contracts? Less SX prep time? Less time to recover from serious injury between nationals and SX? Iffy weather in some locations.

But as a fan who is going to buy the app either way, pushing back 3-4 weeks seems better to me.

Put monster cup In December as a “preseason warmup” for supercross. I think it should be like that anyway

Really the only way I see tv going to be affected is we might not get the few live races on NBC. I think they’d all be delayed for NBC and NBC Sports due to football which I really don’t think that affects viewership anyway. The races will still be live on MAVtv and the core fan will just buy the app anyway. I think the pros of having more fan attendance far outweigh any tv viewership problems

Another con would be the riders wouldn't get any real break. The would go straight from supercross into testing for the outdoors. Then once the outdoors wrap up right into supercross testing. I mean they could take time off but with how competitive racers are they wouldn't want to give an edge to the competition. The way things are now they can take an actual break after motocross wraps up before needing to start supercross prep.

I ride on the east coast all summer, but I watch the races on my couch with the AC on. I would love to go to a national in September / October.

If you start the nationals later, riders have time to recover from Supercross injuries / take a small break. What happens now is the riders go into outdoors a bit burnt out with little testing, and then they get a huge break that mostly gets dedicated to supercross, as that is the next series.

So I think running the nationals later would let riders focus more on motocross.

Yeah I agree better for watching races. Better for amateur racing kids can skip school a couple days. Gets us in way better shape for MXdN also.

Monstercup can be the sx finale race. The sx title and 1,000,000 up for grabs.

If you guys think feld is going to leave open dates on the calendar from middle may to late June you must be drunk or stoned.

Unless there are unlikely circumstances, like this year, there is not going to be a long break between the end of sx and the beginning of mx.

I love the idea of mx being later in the year.

I could care less about live coverage on tv. If you have to have it, buy the nbc gold package. I truly believe that being live makes very little difference to the general public that might channel surf on a Saturday afternoon.

Time delay a condensed, and slick high light show down to about 2 hours. Show it in a consistent time spot.

Cuts out restarts, obvious time stretchers, and boring periods of racing when the best thing they seem to be able to come up with is a battle for 9th place.

Maybe we could get to see the starts of the races too, and the crew can actually get to find the racing for top 5 positions, especially when it is outstanding racing like this past weekend.

Good for us, probably not what the teams want. I believe the idea was floated a year or two ago about putting longer breaks in, and all the teams were unanimous about wanting the earliest finish to the season as possible. Apparently they would rather have one big break than a few smaller ones.

Edit- maybe it was having to do with the rumor of a longer SX season?

It was pretty awesome to have MX on Saturday and NFL on Sunday. Millville always looks great but it looked stunning on Saturday with more of a "Fall" setting.

Fall is best, and no one is more nostalgic for it, but the surest way for the outdoors to fall by the wayside is to compete for eyeballs with college and NFL foot ball while messing with the SX training window

I say do the opposite: Cut 4 weeks out of the end of the SX schedule and start MX sooner. We could easily have cool, non-mud races in the southern states from early April onward. There's no reason we couldn't start the SX series in December.

I like the shifted time frame of the outdoors. Gives riders a break (if they choose to take advantage of it), gives guys who dont have their outdoor setup more than 2 weeks to get it, and little cooler weather at some rounds. With the weather being cooler, it makes guys able to push just a tad bit more towards the end of the moto (especially moto 2). Supercross for the most part, can be shifted around far easier, with stadiums and what not.
However will it happen? Probably not, but it would be nice.

Doing the SX series in December runs into problems with stadium availability because football is still playing I do like your idea though
