We have seen the future and it is AC9. Looks like he might make this motocross stuff look boring.

It’s pretty obvious that Tomac is just riding the series out, could it be just training burnout because of this extended year, the sleepless nights of fatherhood, or injury?

Or maybe all three.
Could be that he dnf'd 2 motos and was in a huge hole to come back from so maybe hes just riding it out for that reason

Hope Tomac gets the fence finished before SX starts.

I was totally wrong thinking he might go 1-1 today on a track he likes.
you can always make a new poll for next race

Lets say he didn’t have the two DNF and all other results the same. Where would be possibly be in points.

Eli got 12 points in the first moto so a 3rd would give him 8 more. Another 3rd in the second moto would give him another 20. He's currently down 39 points so two 3rds would make him 11 down. Two 4ths and he's down 15 points.
What?

One thing tomac does not have is killer instinct and is not as ego driven as some.

I'd say he feels quite accomplished and relieved getting his SX title.

If he was hungry no one would stand a chance.

Wins the biggest championship in this sport, two months later.. how does it feel to be the number 2 on the team? You guys are something else. If AC beats him next year both series he will be the number 2 until then Tomac could go 10-10 for the rest of the year and still carry the number 1 plate into the series that every sponsor drools over.

Youre only as good as your last race. And AC has been better than tomac for pretty much the entire series. AC has been better than the 3peat reigning MX champ. Hes the number 1 guy at this moment until tomac decides to be tomac.

Of the current top 10 in points, how many have completed every round of 450 supercross/motocross this year?

450 Standings
1. Zach Osborne 235
2. Adam Cianciarulo 220
3. Marvin Musquin 215
4. Eli Tomac 196
5. Justin Barcia 194
6. Blake Baggett 190
7. Chase Sexton 173
8. Christian Craig 141
9. Broc Tickle 134
10. Joey Savatgy 122

I think Eli is burned out and just going through the motions.

Maybe ET3 is taking a mental break. Maybe he is just letting the fire burn down for a bit. God knows it can't be easy to stay out there on that razor's edge all the time. Things just haven't gone his way whatsoever in this series between bike failures and starts. He's not out of it yet either. And Maybe he just cares about SX a lot more now and is not going to kill himself outdoors at this point.

Roczen didnt even bother to race. Hardly any analysis of that move.

He gets paid big bucks so he should always be hungry. Did you guys see what looked like a big powwow at the Kawi pits. It was at the end of the race. It looked like a half dozen Kawi guys all putting their heads together. My take was there seemed to be some real concern there.

This is a great opportunity for Tomac to rest a little more than the competition, and try and get that 2nd supercross title

3 outdoor titles in a row, finally climbed to the top of the mountain in SX and won his first series, new baby, crazy year for the race schedule....I don't think anyone is really THAT surprised Tomac is a bit off his game. That being said...he's still a top dog and I'm sure he will be ready and motivated to defend his SX title next year and reclaim the outdoor title. Honestly I would of been more surprised if he dominated this outdoor series after everything I just mentioned.
I was very surprised. He is lucky he is finishing as well as he is. He is lucky guys are making mistakes in front of him.

He looks like he is lost on the track

He could stay home to get rest.

The three time champ can't be happy or content about what took place yesterday. It could have been worse too. He actually got lucky.

Even if you are a C class racer and you are used to winning your class you would be highly bothered with a 6-5.

Maybe the team, ET, AC has a little more on the ball then the rest of the moto industry and the roost thrown around here. But as many of you have pointed out AC sat out some SX and ET finally brought it home. Now the Green Meanies are in position to take it all in America's premier class. Damn productive if you ask around.

Congrats to AC... he sure is fun to watch ride!

With Eli... curious of anything happened between Ironman and Red Bud... injury? More fence work?

Anyway... as shitty as 2020 has been in the real world... SX/MX has really delivered... just awesome racing.

Wasn't it just Eli and Bagget who did every round (technically, Sexton, too)?

I agree that he's just burned out on the season. If he doesn't come out swinging for SX next year, then I'll start to think he's over racing.

I would not be surprised to see AC win out and take the title.

Have we forgotten he was the golden child? Some injuries and growing tall just got in his way for a while.

I thought he might be better too, but i'd also say I don't think that was really typically as rough

Eli got 12 points in the first moto so a 3rd would give him 8 more. Another 3rd in the second moto would give him another 20. He's currently down 39 points so two 3rds would make him 11 down. Two 4ths and he's down 15 points.
You are correct.
I was wrong.

With two 3rds at LL#2 Tomac would have 224 points. (-11)
With two 4ths he would have 220-points. (-15)
With two wins he would have 232-points. (-3)

Osborne has 235 points.

I recently saw an interview with Bob Hannah, and he was saying the worst thing Rick Johnson ever did, was let Stanton around him so he could see what it took. Just something to ponder in this situation.

Of course AC isn't hanging out with Tomac at his place, but back in the 80's you could see Stanton had potential, just didn't think he had THAT much potential. I'm also not sure if Tomac and AC are together during Kawi testing all the time or not either. Still, up and coming speedsters always seem to want it pretty damn badly.

This is why teams hire two riders. In case the #1 prospect has some bad luck (DNFs, anyone?) or a few bad motos, there is another guy to potentially podium. In this case, Adam started winning. That's not a bad thing, but he doesn't automatically become the "#1" guy.

When his salary and win bonuses outpace Eli's for 2 seasons, then he is the #1 guy.
