Team Target/Wheaties/HRC?

I think it's great news that RD is looking for a good way to come back into racing. Can't wait to see where he lands.

If Dungey can get his own sponsors he can go wherever he wants. He has to be the most marketable guy for a sponsor out there.
He would have the best storyline going into 2021.

4 time SX champ comes out of retirement. Guaranteed eyeballs on him all season long.

Under the HRC tent if he can get his own sponsors.

As for K-Roc...

So, Roczen is out and HRC sees this as the 5 coming in to mentor and guide Chase Sexton. Chase is already working with JS7. And I seem to remember a young Ryan Dungey training with the Stewarts as a 250 rider.

Are we talking about Dungey and Sexton pounding motos at the Stewart compound with JS7 on a bullhorn and stopwatch?

The rebirth of HRC.

I would be very selective. He has less to gain than lose coming back IMO.
Maybe you don't remember him winning on Suzuki's? Woohoo

Does the Roczen Retires theory have any weight to it? I haven't seen anything leaning towards that.

I just know Roczen's not out at HRC.

No clue what he's doing. Retirement?

Same thing happens to Stu Baylor and everyone wants to blame his style.

Every year is tough after the budgets are already set, 2020 is a MF.
Theres one Team that dont seem to have any budget problems!! Lets start the Dungey to Star Yamaha Rumour.
He can join DF, AP, stewart, Bam Bam & Thrasher & half the paddock 🤣

I really doubt it, everyone has gotten faster since he left. The sport hasn't stood still since he retired. He'll still do well but I'd put him in the 4-7 range most races, which is still badass.

Kenny is going slower now than he was in '16-17 in both SX & MX. Everybody else is floating around the level they've always been at. Dunge may well score 4th-7th upon his return, but thats not because the others are going faster.

Next you'll be telling us the bike tech is far better now than it was in 2017..
AC, Sexton, Osborne, Webb have all improved. It's not easy to take that time off and pick it back up where you left off

As much as I would love to see him back racing, I kind of agree with Matthes viewpoint. Dungey left while on top and a big reason was his neck injury. I have no doubt he's in great shape and would quickly be contending for wins or podiums but he can't be worrying about injury. If he goes out there with the fear of a major injury lingering in his head that's no good. You have to be 100% focused on going full speed and willing to risk it all. That said - I really want to see him back. This 450 class is so stacked I can't wait to see how well he fares.

Sure, it won't be easy. I'm just saying I would not be surprised.
Also I don't think he would come out of retirement if he thinks that P4-7 is all he's got. He's only 30 as well

Or under his own tent with leased bikes from HRC - like Two Two back in their Honda days

We really can't have Ralph Sheheen calling the races if Dungey does comeback. He'll remind us every single lap that Dungey has not raced in years! Scary times we live in.

Working 7 days a week , I had to watch the races this evening. Was really cool to hear him say it. Have no idea what will happen in the future , but it sure would be cool seeing Ryan back out there.

Probably not. But i'm sure he'll be able to pick the number 5, unless Ferrandis wins the title and wants it.

What if Dungey comes to a MX race and scores a few points?

It's weird to hear him say it as I remember the language he was using in his last year (In that behind the scenes red bull Adamitis series) He seemed really worried about racing SX and like his last season couldn't have ended quick enough for him..
I understand that was a while ago and he's prob forgotten those fears... Still

If anyone could come back and win it is probably Dungey. Hope he gives it a go.

30 is ancient in moto. How many guys in the field are over 30 right now?

This. 100% reason why he should not come back. Damn, he has milion, kids, a wife.
Just race at "amateur" level, open up a riding school or a big ranch like JS7 does.
Crazy shit to come back and risk it all after you already retired once, especially with kids at home. Same story for the other Ryan.

So Honda not a done deal. Let the bidding begin! Who's got an extra million laying around? JGR?

I'm sure he isn't going to. I'm sure he will only do it if he basically has the equivalent of a factory bike and a substantial paycheck.
