Legend in my own mind compared to many of you, mediocre rider since the 70s, decided that since the factory contract wasn’t coming anytime soon I’d try to keep chasing the dream by wrenching.

Attended MMI and then headed to the promised land (CA). Ended up working for White Brothers as a suspension tech in the mid 80s. Got involved in some cool projects as building suspension for Hannah’s Superbiker ride. Suzuki at the time, and others.

Teamed up with a guy that bought a Pro Action Suspension franchise and did that for awhile. Went to George Quays house in PA and hung out getting trained in to the program.

Worked with a buddy of mine on his Professional Snocross team. (Judnick Motorsports). Started out as a semi-Pro team with his Son Matt trading wins with Tucker Hibbert, Levi Lavalle and such. Attedend XGames and the full tour. Currently it’s the Factory Polaris Team.

Met a lot of great people in our sport and tried my best to help them out with their suspension needs as they were chasing their dreams as well. I had a taste of the Big show in both Moto and Snocross.

While at MMI met a dude named Willy Musgrave, became great friends and we lived together with our new wives close to San Clemente and we both started Dream chasing. His story is well documented and continues on.

Great hearing all your stories. Moto On Guys!!

Went to state Spelling Bee in 5th Grade. Mom drove two hours and found out I was first alternate and everyone showed up. She didn't talk much on the way home...

Holeshot two motos in 80 Expert at Carlsbad on American Sports Cavalcade. Got passed by a bunch of Californians real quick. Broke my leg on the uphill before the Freeway in the 2nd moto... caught on TV. Slipdog missed my head and I thank him often! Jim and Anita Button brought me a signed George Holland Hondaline jersey to the hospital. Way too big for me but wore it often to match the Hondaline gear I wore.

I used to be a competitive skier and was in ski movies. Lucky timing had us on the forefront of the big mountain skiing revolution and fat ski evolution, and we got to open up a lot of previously unskied terrain in Alaska, Europe, South America and Canada. It was a time of heli-skiing exploration, huge advances in powder skis and attention from the ski industry. Helmet cams weighed about 5 lbs!

I got to work with some of the best photographers and filmers in the business and we had a blast figuring out what to do and pushing our limits. Unfortunately I have about 35 friends and cohorts who died doing the sport we loved. It was like F1 in the 60's, every year I knew several people who pushed too far or got unlucky.

I did some competitions, mostly big mountain stuff. Also did the first winter X-games in 1998(skiercross) and the NBC Gravity games in 2000(bronze medal in big mountain). In 2000 I was the U.S. freeskiing champion and in 1998 the Canadian freesking champ. Snowboarding stole a lot of skiing's thunder in the early part of my career but by the end of it skiing was becoming a big deal again.

In 1998 at the SIA ski industry show in Las Vegas I was walking the show and meeting with sponsors and I walked by the CTS booth. There was no one around but there was a guy sitting at a table and I noticed he had posters in front of him to sign... that guy was Jeff Emig. As I said no one at all was around and I struck up conversation with him. As a life-long fan of moto I was so stoked! Well we shot the shit for at least 30 minutes and he noticed I had my portfolio so he went through it and geeked on all the cliff shots. What a great guy and of course he was just coming off his SX championship the year before so I peppered him with questions about everything I could think of as a rabid MX fan. Great times!

I love to ski, but am moving to Florida in a month, so my ski trips will be to Colorado and stuff down the road. I hope one day to do some backcountry adventure skiing. Sounds so epic lol. (And yes I know since I have only skiid the east coast, I won’t be able to go straight to the backcountry Laughing )

All started for me when I jumped over 11 neighborhood kids. I mastered a few two-wheel disciplines. For a few that know who I am, well you already know my rise to fame in summer MTB and moto races and snowboard winter competitions. Doing freestyle, freeriding and racing sessions for summer and winter appearances for VHS moto and ski movies. I did too many disciplines so never stay focus to go glamorous spotlight pro stuff. But never looked back, so much fun and no regrets. Started family in my 30's with my high school sweetheart and still played on bikes and snowboard and ride with OG, just more reserved and control if that's a thing. My life insurance representative likes that feedback anyway. LOL

Hah... i maxed out at 11 too, to do more , you needed more speed than you could provide , or a bigger, steeper ramp, that you couldnt land without dying ... good times, great picture.

If you can find the episode of Bubbas World where he goes to that big party, you'll see me in the opening credits wearing a gray shirt with a red solo cup leaned up against a wall....just me in the shot. When the camera start "walking in" they speed the footage up for a second and it stops briefly with a shot of me smiling halfway shitfaced 😂.

Backstory, one of my best friends is Andy Bakkens older brother and he invited me out to the party at Nate Adam's house (the old one with the sort of barn structure in the backyard) it was on a monday night and I didnt have to work the next day so we went. When we got there, there were all these signs about filming for Bubbas World that would be going on .....what you see on the show and what really happened were way different and James was not having much fun at all. I on the other hand had a blast partying with a lot of the top 40 racers of the time and quite a few fmx dudes....end of story. 😎

I once hitched a ride on a G4 to Aspen, and conditions were too bad to land, so we diverted to Rifle (I think). The wind shears were crazy, and while coming in for landing there were all kind of alarms going off in cabin. One of the pilots was “auditioning” and didn’t have a lot of experience with mountain landings I guess, and I remember him trying land and the other pilot had to grab the controls as were were sideways 15’ above the runway. Everybody in the back was puking and crying and all I could think was, how cool would it be to crash and die on a private jet. (I was suuuuuper hammered as well)

I got stuck in Cuba when hurricane Irma hit, sat in the lobby of my hotel and watched the roof being torn off haha! Quite a crazy experience..
Even made it onto the news in the UK and America.

Flying into LaGuardia (sp?) a few years back on a United 737. We approached the runway at what seemed like 90°, and at the last second, we did a hard left turn just before touching down. Evidently the pilot misjudged a bit, and we touched down really crossed up. We hit hard on the right landing gear, and I heard the engines throttle up. Next thing I knew, we were airborne again. Kind of a commercial jet touch and go. I was thinking "THAT WAS COOL!", and in fact said so to the lady sitting beside me.
My wife was sitting several rows ahead of me, and happened to be taking a video of the landing from a window just aft of the wing. What I hadn't realized (and she got on video) was that the wing tip actually hit the runway hard enough to tear off the part that flips up at the end of the wing.
We circled for a while, with another plane flying just to the right of us for a few minutes. We landed, and did a VERY quick stop, surrounded by fire trucks.
As we got off of the plane, I was telling the flight crew what a cool landing that was, and jokingly asked if we could do that again. I didn't know about the wing hitting the runway until I found my wife in the terminal. Lol

- and the list went on until my metabolism caught up and I gained a little weight. Finally doubling guys like Giovanni Ribisi and recently Aaron Paul.
Hahaa, Dig it.. Alysa Milano though? I'd leave that one out of the Res. She's the def of "chicks gone crazy"

I thought of another one .. I was mountain biking in Rowlett, TX one day and had just come off the trail back to the parking lot for a short break. I was sitting on my buddies tailgate when 2 white panel vans pulled up and parked near us. Four guys got out and unloaded around 8 bikes. Shortly after a black Suburban pulled up and some more guys got out including former President George W Bush. Two of the guys stayed in the parking lot and the rest took off into the woods with W somewhere in the middle. I waited about 5 minutes and went in behind them thinking I would catch up to them fairly easy seeing as W was in his 70s. I rode my ass off on this trail, probably the hardest I've ever gone on a bicycle and when I made it back to the parking lot the vans and the suburban were gone. Apparently W hauls ass on a bicycle!
