I was in a few invite-only RedBull competitions (mtb, not moto). Those were really cool experiences since not many have been there.

I won a record on the Radio, they even said my name, way back in 1973.

In moto back to back holeshots at Ventura Fairgrounds in 93. Last race for me @lacr 10 years ago beat a friend and he's in a class above me! In life, settling down and trying to be a better person.

2.0 GPA in High School because I only cared about racing dirt bikes.

4.2 GPA / Valedictorian of my class at Columbia because I realized dirt bikes (and life) cost a lot of money.
How does one get into Columbia with a 2.0 gpa in high school?

I was school multiplication champ in fifth grade.

I farted during a science test in 7th grade and got a detention for it. I can't believe the teacher was the only one that heard it.
When I was in 8th grade, I would fart all the time in my science class.

One week I was on a streak. Like every single day Silly

She finally had enough, and after 2-3 that class period, she sent me to detention for the rest of the day.

I remember putting on the detention slip (Reason: Farting in class (natural gas)) Pinch Whistling Grinning

Almost forgot! Practice mechanic for a friend that won a Vet-X series in around 2011. My uncle could jump 1 ft over his head in the high jump! Haha!!

Some academic, some Moto-related. Won a few national high school journalism contests, and graduated high school second-in-class (4.7 GPA). Highest SAT score my school has seen in several years (1550). Won 125C at a Loretta’s area qualifier in 2019. But this picture is what I love showing off the most. Mammoth MX 2010 on Cobra 50s. Every kid in this picture except myself (#154) and #144 has raced 250/Open Pro Sport at Loretta’s in the last two years. Mumford (#122) and Brown (#63) were top 5 last year, Schwartz (#470) was top 5 this year, and Miller (#604, barely in photo on right side) was around 20th this year. Now I’m off to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo for college, engineering major, but this photo reminds me where I could be if I chased the dream instead.

I’ve swam in the Dead Sea, flown across the Atlantic at Mach 2 in the Concorde, shot a fifty cal machine gun from a Navy ship, whilst floating in the Mediterranean-these things matter not; I once wadded up a $18,000 Pitbike in a race at RedBud, whilst RC & Reedy were watching....

In 1984 I got 5th overall 250 pro in the CMC Goldenstate National Series and that same year, top true privateer, with I think was a 13th, in the last Saddleback 250 outdoor National race.
Then there was the time in 1986 when I won both the 250 AND the open pro class’s at DeAnza race park. It was a Yamaha contingent race and that same day Ryan Huges won the 125 novice class, Mike Young won the 125 intermediate class, Kenny Zahrt won the vet class and ”The King” Jeremy McGrath got 3rd in 80 novice! About 25 years later I saw Jeremy and Ryan at Mammoth and showed them the results....I jokingly asked Jeremy if I was his hero that day. He said he didn’t remember me but that he rarely missed pro races and that he was sure he was watching trackside...and I probably was his hero...that day.

Why in the world did that thing cost $18,000?!

Other notable names there that day: Gale Webb, Mercedes Gonzales, Joel Albrecht (J-Bone's bro), Alan Olson, Craig Davis....and my 2 buddies that I beat that day, Tony Spear and Luther French (who still kicks ass at REM every Saturday!)

Oh yeah...and Todd Campbell...he was the shit back then! (I was lucky he had issues that day)...whatever happened to that kid?

Really? He's in Moto XXX #3...we played a festival that Page n Plant played at and i waited 2+ hours for him to give me 15 seconds of his time..i got Jimmy Page too..as they walked to the stage. Then i hung out on stage and watched them play Led Zeppelin songs. That was incredible and i filmed it too. Have that tape around here somewhere!

UPDATE: I FOUND THE TAPE!!!

I had an in person meeting with Husqvarna's engineering team at the KTM/Husky factory in Mattighofen to figure out why they were having engines grenade on the test bench, among other things.

Couldn't figure it out over the phone over weeks of testing. I figured it out after about 10 minutes into the meeting. It turned out to be a pretty simple problem, which is why I never even considered it as a possibility when talking on the phone. Either way, the problem ceased to exist after that.

The possibly cooler part was they happened to be throwing a party for the Dakar team that day for Marc Coma's final Dakar title in 2015. I happened to run into him, and I think Jordi Viladoms, in the lobby as I was leaving.

Overall, awesome trip. I got a full tour of the factory/facility and it was incredibly cool.

In 2015 Mammoth Vet weekend, I was the winner of the weekend holeshot award with 4 holeshots. Everyone who got a holeshot that weekend got to have their picture taken on the podium with the holeshot sign. Whoever got the most holeshots for the weekend got to keep the sign. I also got a $50 Lucas Oil gift certificate for each one.

Yes, really.

I went to get the drinks when we arrived and my wife went to the beer garden. I returned with the beers and she’s sat at a bench talking to him. I sit down and pick up the conversation and we end up talking moto for a bit (Jason Bonham used to race with me in the schoolboys).

He then leaves and Mrs A says “How do you know that man then?”

I say, “Do you not know who he is?”

“No”, she replies. “I was talking to him about his dog.”

“Er, that’s Robert Plant”, I say.

Should’ve offered to buy him a pint I suppose. But then he didn’t offer to buy us one.

True story Bros.

(He lives not too far away and has been to our pub before, although I’ve never met him previously. Seemed a nice guy)

1. Holeshot master on 02 KX250. Love beating those new 450s!

2. Once stopped a 240 pound running back for a loss weighing only 130 pounds. He didn't run my way the rest of the game which is a good thing because I had a terrible headache.

3. All around shooting champ at the local gun range.

Unafuckindilla 2009, asked someone to hold my beer while I jumped my girlfriends pitbike off a 2x6 piece of lumber resting on a cooler. Sent that bad boy 30 ft into the flats on stock suspension, over a drunken teen and 50 gallon water drum. Upon landing I added another 10 degrees of rake to the forks but rode back to retrieve my beer. Jimmy Decotis turned pro that year and rode for Geico, pulled the holeshot his very first race. We stabbed and chugged a beer later that night before Amateur day and his girlfriend gave me a I Love Jimmy D shirt.

Aside from riding since I was 3 and am now a local A rider I can wheelie anything with wheels and a motor on it till it runs out of gas. My record is 23 miles. Had to stop cause the cops front number was literally almost touching my wheel. I’ve calmed down a lot since then I’m the last 5 or so years but I still do it sometimes.

That's me holding the pit board for my friend at the 97 Vegas Supercross. I was a senior in high school and convinced my parents to let me fly to Vegas with someone they didnt really know from a town 100 miles away. Took the redeye and got home at 7am the next Monday and drove straight to school to take my last high school finals. :D

I got lapped by Torsten Hallman twice at the Wilseyville Enduro 1966ish. Rained for 3 days. Hodaka 100.
Edit
Full disclosure: twice on the first lap.
