why is everyone convinced his immune system is compromised... that wreck was 3 years ago and what is a few more months of, giant air quotes...rest, going to gain him? I had a similar left elbow and arm injury with multiple surgeries in 1996 and none of my doctors ever mentioned anything about immediate or long term immune system compromise, compartment syndrome and potential amputation yes, immune compromise no.

I wish him well and hope he heals from whatever is ailing him... whatever it may be.

How many surgeries? He had fucking 11 on one arm in the matter of a couple months. Not to mention the other arm. Everyone's body is different. Maybe his immune system issues are a deeper seeded problem and you'd all feel like dick bags for hating on this dude if that turned out to be the case. Stop comparing yourself with him and have a little empathy.
How did you get hate from my question? I am a fan and as stated before I hope he heals from whatever he is ailing from... that’s hate in your view, that’s a strange response?

I can sympathize with what he has gone through and I do as I have been through something similar in my lifetime by destroying the same arm as he has... I even broke my right hand requiring surgery similar to his in 2001.

Thankfully I have not had an immunity issue like he seems to have, All I was asking was why is everyone so sure?

..... and you pushed your body to the physical extreme every day training as hard as Kroc did following your injury, to get back to one of the best in the world right? And then you stuck your other arm inside the spinning wheel of a 450 in a supercross race right ? And then you faught and pushed your body to the physical extreme again day after day fighting for a championship right ?
I can see the similarities.

I expected this response.
the answer to this is yes, my chosen career over the past nearly thirty years required me to be ready as quickly as possible to insert myself into extreme areas of the globe, surviving under sustained direct fire, long foot movements to contact with the addition of extreme lack of sleep and proper nutrition under austere conditions in all environments. In addition I have been a competitive athlete most of my life and have had the opportunity to train with some of the best olympic level trainers and nutritional scientist to assist in preparation for our missions. just because I don’t get paid to ride a dirt bike doesn’t mean I or anyone else on here hasnt had similar life experiences or pushed our body to extremes like Kenny has.
Well said.

Remember Kenny when you head to the ER and ask for antibiotics for your viral illness. Antibiotics kill

Even with him in rough shape he is the only challenger to Tomac. Can not blame the guy one bit though, he’s dealt with a lot, and we are lucky to see him back winning races. But, However many wins you thought Tomac was gonna have, just add more. Webb and Osborne are not on there level.
I think if Webb is healthy, he can challenge Tomac.
Tomac will walk webb week after week with zero problems getting around him outdoors!!

You really think he would have been worse in 2020 outdoors than last year? I remember Ken not getting a win in SX last year while winning 3 overalls outdoors and finishing second in the championship. This year he won 4 SX races while beeing a lot more consistent (until salt like) and we all know that outdoors is where Ken really shines. To say Ken Roczen wouldn't be a threat outdoors is one of the dumbest things I've seen in a long time.

Not the same guy he was last year. I appreciate his comeback but he's become a headcase. Hope he has his tires mounted in the right direction when he does decide to race again.

Was a Roczen fan until 2016 when he started blaming 'setup' every SX race. Then he just quit at the finale cuz his glove was dirty. Some of you guys have short memories. lol

2016 was the year where he found his setup at the end of sx? When he started beating Dungey and well, we all know how the '16 outdoor season went Wink

This might be the best decision for him and Honda to make, how much it sucks to not see him in the outdoors this season. If Kenny get his health on track he could go for the SX title and that would make this more than justified.

Because he's stated so. Mostly from the excess amount of antibiotics from the lime burns last year I believe, after already being on tons of antibiotics from his surgeries. Congrats on being a superior human being!

Edit: I misread his post above thinking he worked near fire, not under direct gunfire. Apologies for my salty last line, leaving it up because I was in the wrong and don't want to pretend it didn't happen.

I think Webb will win a couple and maybe Zach too. You never know with Baggett either. But when push comes to shove Tomac and Roczen are on a different level outdoors then Webb and Zach at least and the stats back that up to a huge degree. Musquin was the only other one I think with the consistency to stay with Tomac and he’s coming in cold. Webb will be better, the guy that finished second last year is out and the guy right behind him hasn’t raced in a year so he has too. Last year Matthes and co gave him so much slack like SX champs come into the MX season cold... outside of Anderson which champs did that? MC in 94? I just feel people are putting to much stock in Webb as a title threat. I maybe wrong, but Webb has always been a better SX rider Plus Tomacs biggest fault is his starts, now he has 15 extra minutes outdoors than SX.

I’m sure he’s taking a pay cut to sit out. So calm down “honor the contract” ers
His agent came on the Pulp show a while ago and proudly stated that he negotiated Kenny’s contract to pay in full whether he rides or not, so if Kenny doesn’t think he’s capable of winning and earning bonus money, why bother and risk further injury? He’s probably made 8 figures since 2017 working part-time, so I’m sure he isn’t riding for a new contract in the future. Whatever percentage he’s paying Astephen, his agent has earned!
Kenny has zero motivation to get back on his bike unless the thinks he can compete for win bonuses. Based on his performance in SX, he has to know he won’t be able to hang with Eli all moto long outdoors this summer, so why bother?

I thought his immune system was compromised from the antibiotics given to him from the Lyme issue a year or so back. Apparently it "wiped out his immune system and he had to build it back" or something similar. At least that's what I thought I heard on Pulp. I don't believe it was due to his injuries (although I'm sure that doesn't help fatigue). He also has shingles. Shingles can cause a huge mess of issues on it's own. Just my $.02 lol

I mean I get it- he must be in a bad way.
The hotter rounds were going to be a challenge but then the cooler rounds in the back half might have been ok?
Wish he would of gave it a go for a few rounds to see how it shook out.
But also he already has 2x Outdoor titles so the motivation probably isn’t there.. prob best to rest and wait 4 months til SX starts again.

He got lapped in salt late, and Supercross is quite obviously less demanding than outdoors so I don’t see how it could have went well.

Maybe he just doesn’t want to catch Covid crisscrossing the country all Fall?

I’m cool with it and clearly his employer is too, not sure what the big deal is?

Because Kenny has said his immune system isn't what it was pre injury. That's how I'm sure.

Clearly neither you nor his employer have the level of insider knowledge and medical expertise that some vital experts have

Tomac didn’t do Mxon and got mad hate for his decision.
Roczen is praises for skipping a whole series.

Tomac s reasoning was to prep and win a sx title which he did.

Hope it works out for Kenny but his window is really closing on him now.

Take the summer off, get paid, and get to be around for your 1st born, being born - id say he is doing it right. Hopefully (for him and us as fans) he will come back stronger than ever. If he doesn't, that's his choice - but id say he is playing the cards right this time. When their life has been nothing but moto from very early on, i would imagine being able to take a break and focus on family is pretty damn special..... I don't care what my job or career is/was, Im not missing the birth of my child. Im sure any dads on here will agree....

You really think another couple months off is going to magically help him out. He has had tons of time off this year. I remember him saying “we finally got this illness figured out”. Well it doesn’t seem like you do. Seem to be more excuses. He had problems last year with antibiotics then won a couple outdoor overalls. Hasn’t had an injury since and has had a bunch off time off this year and still isn’t ready to go. Too many guys give him a pass for whatever reason. Doesn’t seem like he has the motivation to want it. Can’t go from winning overalls to not riding a year later with no injuries in between. I think he came into Salt Lake underprepared and got whipped. Now another illness. His arm injury was 4 years ago either he is back or he will never be from that.
