This Year:
A win
2 Second Place Podiums (Remember ATL?)
Top Ten in 15 out of 17 races.
5th in SX for 2020.

All the while, the hater-brain-trust in here rants on as if he's not worthy?
Wow.

Here's a thought: he DID struggle in SLC. Maybe he didn't do well in the 4600 feet of SLC?
Maybe he didn't recover well?
Dunno.

Here's what I do know: he's one of the VERY few to win a SX main for the last couple of seasons. Not to metnion he's podiumed the last...what...3 seasons?

So, for me, that ends any argument of "who" he is and "what" he's capable of.

Does Gas Gas have the 350? He could probably make that sing with JGR if they switch.

It looks like whatever KTM has...GasGas will have as an MC-F...in the beginning: MC350 F...for example.

For the record: I believe he'd do REALLY well on the 450 "GasGas" since it doesn't mind revving adn can be built for "Revvers"...

A Barcia with no ride on the table, is the FASTEST version of Barcia.... Look for Bam-Bam to be in terminator mode when the nationals start...

Since we are on this tangent, Baggett's line this year is definitely one of the craziest I've seen. Two of the only times he cracked the top 10 were victories, and he made every race:

First off his line above is event points, not finishes right? So he had one 3rd and two 4ths as his best finishes.

Baggett for sure has to be one of the most confusing guys out there. He has podium level speed every week, but man what a crazy year and only one podium. I will say though, JT$ has repeatedly said that he is having serious issues with his hands/arms going numb and if he's struggling with that kind of problem I'm amazed he can ride SX at all.

The wrist injury he suffered in 2013 was career changing for Blake. He's obviously won races since then, but that injury alone set him on a path below what he might have been able to do otherwise.

Barcia could have been in the same hof talk as Eli and Roczen. Sadly his clock is ticking and the window on a championship is definitely almost shut.

I would take Baggett over Barcia any day of the week.. Baggett is a solid Pro with a good attitude. You know he isn't doing or saying anything stupid, whatever happens... but Barcia, its always the bike, and not the fact the dumbass revs the shit out of it , so it wont do anything. As I have said before, Roczens piston only travels half the distance of Barcia's in any given race.

Can’t be bothered reading the all the comments, but Ferris cut his American trip short because he didn’t like the bike and he had won heaps on the Australian version.
He was answering questions on Instagram a while back and said the bike was no good and hew would love to see what he could do on his ktm

I honestly have no insight or opinion on how much the Yamaha design effects the top riders. I just wish they further developed their old frame design. Every bike is perimeter frame. I really like the old semi-perimeter design:

Edit: To be fair, the KTMs are semi... I was just thinking of the japanese aluminum frame designs since their inception. Yamaha went semi-perimeter on the YZ line as well.
Go back to steel. Aluminum frames suck.
Never understood the advantage of aluminium if it has to be made heavier than a chrome-moly frame to withstand the rigors.
Unless it's just another marketing ploy...💡

Maybe Yamaha needs to figure out why their 250 is consistently 2 seconds faster around a supercross track than their 450.

Yamaha from what i heard also didn't want any of their riders riding his CDR bike a well.
Yamaha US has an inherent problem with old out of date leadership. Time to clean out the closet of old farts and bring in some fresh ideas and ways of thinking.

How many Supercross races have you attended? I like how people watch SX/MX on TV and maybe watch one race at their local stadium but call the guy a dumbass for revving and riding his bike how he sees fit. That "dumbass" won a SX race this year.

Exactly! Better yet, what do you ride? At what level? I’m all for cranking on Barcia because he’s a squirrelly dude, but let’s not question his ability. The dude has won a race in back to back seasons. That’s not luck. Making the main is hard enough right now and he finished in the top 5 for points. Literally only 4 people beat him. I doubt those four people beat him because he over revs. Plenty of under reviving riders were behind him too. The only people qualified to judge how Barcia is riding his 450 are the 4 people who beat him this year and anyone else who’s raced a 450 to a top 4 or higher in Supercross in the past. That’s a pretty small list of god level talents.

There’s a ton of teams that would be stupid to not take a look at him. At this point I’d take him over Baggett, Bloss, Brayton, Davalos, all of JGR but maybe Joey and even that’s a toss up that is based on future potential for Joey. I’d take him over Friese, Hill, even Mookie is a toss up as he could improve from his 7th this year or he could get hurt. Even at Husky, As much as I love him, Barcia outperforms Wilson due to injury and consistency issues.

If he goes top 7 in the outdoors this season, there’s no reason a legit team won’t sign him for next season. I can’t imagine any world where he has to go to the GPs unless the payday is huge and again I don’t see that being the case in a post Rona world.

Barcia revs the shit out of his bike. He also hauls the fucking mail faster than only a handful of riders. He’ll be on a good team next year.

The reasons are many why a factory team would not hire Barcia in 2021. More reasons not to hire him than to hire him in my view. Especially when you consider younger/better riders coming up.

Chad made some good points in his Matthes interview. Until Yamaha gets the Japanese more involved in the race team the results will be more of the same. Think of how good factory teams have made bikes that suck as a production model.

Could the reason for not winning more races be the fault of the two Yamaha riders?

Or does it have to be the bike? Just asking!!!!!!

So if Barcia and AP7 were on the KTM they would be scoring wins and top-five results all day long???

That's a fair question; but, there's one glaring fact...

Copper wasn't good nor was he happy over there. Then, he signs with KTM...and...now...he's in it EVERY damn week.

No need to let him get to you like that....It’s just Phil being Phil all the way from GP land....and if Barcia does end up in the GP’s Phil will either be his biggest fan or use his failure to knock US racers and races....

I’m a Yamaha guy, I love Yamaha, but I am not a pro. I feel the bike is the problem, Webb is a perfect example, I love AP7 and JB51, JB51 is the only one to turn good results on the bike in a LONG time!! I’m not a Webb fan but Yamaha ruined him, I feel the same thing is happening with AP7, DF might be Yamahas shining light but I feel like he will be mediocre at best because of the bike. DF is a superstar and the Yamaha is going to do the same thing to him it did to Webb imo

Some of these teams are going to have to go to 3 or 4 guys or there will be several "top" guys without a ride next season. Maybe Yamaha goes with DF, JB, and AP? Kawi and Honda could also expand to 3. If Barcia puts in a solid outdoor season, he will not be without a ride next season.

Was looking for the Barcia thread started yesterday to post this as well. Very telling that he thanks all his sponsors and leaves out Yamaha. Lately there has been multiple social media posts as well as interviews where it seems he’s taking subtle digs at the team.
his contract has an auto renew option if he finished top 3.

Aplessinger has already signed back on for Yamaha and they are most likely signing Ferrandis for 2021.

At this point Barcia is the odd man out and there is already Sexton and Mclrath coming up looking for a ride.
