I highly doubt this has anything to do with it but when Chase win the title if you look at him while his mechanic was holding his bike look underneath the frame and it’s smoking

He said it in the post you quoted, that he doesn't think they're protesting over nothing, therefore the protest is the smoke. No point in everyone getting all spun up until the results are back. The validity of the decision to protest will be determined in hindsight, not in advance here on the forum.

Unless they had reason to believe the fuel was illegal (that's smoke), the protest is a random dart thrown in the dark, hoping to hit something

We don't know what it is, so if you're concerned about the other poster being accurate as to what constitues "smoke", then you kinda need to take your own advice and acknowledge that you have no idea that the protest is a random dart thrown in the dark hoping to hit something. You could be right, but you/we have no idea, so that's not how it works either get a clue blah blah blah. Let's just wait and see what the result is.
I didn't call the smoke bro... Asking someone who said there was smoke, what that smoke is, is a legit question. I'm sorry that this has become so difficult for you to understand.

I have said nothing about the protest being legit or not. You're a bit dense...

We'll just wait and see. If it turns into something, then smoke was valid, even if the word bothers you. Stop putting so much emphasis on words you read and life gets a lot easier.

Because Chase laid the bike down to celebrate, so overflow coolant was probably spilling out.

It's not Wilbur. Brad Hoffman is a fucking asshole who is grasping at straws to save his job. Same dude who fucked Matthes and Keefer when it came to the bike test.

If Star is right do you blame them?

I dont, you race to win and you should try to do it fairly. If someone else is cheating I'd be pissed.

Ppl say Sexton waxed Mcelrath and there is no denying the last 2 rounds Sexton pulled away. But McElrath had some great rides too and he had two golden opportunities slip away from red flags. I think theres a lot of hate on McElrath for his podium speeches but the guy has his right to believe whatever he wants, just like anyone else.
What are the chances star knew they were most likely not going to win the East and their plan was to protest at the last race. They could have been running different fuel all along. Either way if fuel was that serious the race organization should provide the fuel to all teams period.

It's been the most exciting and bizarre season in a while so I'm not surprised there is a protest too.

Has KTM thought of protesting Tomac for oxygenated blood from living at altitude?

Great series. So cool they pulled off all 7 extra rounds.

If they've known, I wish they had protested sooner just to hear RC comment about fuel protests.

Maybe star thought Geico was cheating when they saw Sexton jumping the triple from the inside. Shane said in one of the interviews that their bike was the only 250 that could do that 🤷‍♂️

Probably both. A and B samples I'm guessing.

Geico is a solid and reputable team with great riders, so for Star to protest they (Star) must be pretty confident that Geico may have run something out of the fuel parameters.

Which ever way this goes someone will be embarrassed.

We're just hearing about it now, so we naturally think this is all happening "now", but for all we know, they've known about something going on and kept it in their back pocket. If it turns out to be false, then it was probably just a chicken shit move. If it turns out to be true, then I'd guess they've known for a bit and were hoping to win without having to play the card.
It’s still a chicken shit move IMO. If Star thought Geico was running illegal fuel then they should’ve protested from the beginning. How are you going to hope to win without playing that card, then when your rider can’t pull it off you go and protest to try and get your rider the title. That’s super wack lol either protest right when you suspected it, or go and beat him and don’t say shit and if you don’t win then you don’t win. Thats super lame.

Shane's just gonna have to accept that the lord didnt have a championship for him this year but im sure it's all a part of his plan and he's really working some things out for him.

What does a riders beliefs have to do with fuel protest? Pretty ignorant comment...

It has to do with the fact that he and his team can't accept the fact that they got their doors blown off by Sexton in these last 3 races and are now making meritless accusations on the opposing team.

All I'm saying is he should accept that this championship wasn't meant to be.

Neither fuel nor red flags cost Shane the title,
being slower than Chase Sexton is what cost him the title.

I read some of these replies and I shake my head.

The rules are set up specifically to address any concerns or questions competitors might have about legalities of others equipment.

What are the options to this system?

The accuser starts a whisper campaign, "you know they only won because the knobs on their front tire were .00000237 too deep." THAT is the punk ass way to handle something like this.

Mandatory testing at a considerable expense that results in less for the riders in the long run?

No, the right system is in place. If you feel someone is cheating, you pony up the fee and it is checked.

It isn't whining. It isn't poor sportsmenship. It is playing by the rules and making sure that the rules were followed.

If it is found to be illegal then the penalty should be applied and if it changes the results then that is official. No freaking lame-ass, no-score little league trophies, everyboy's a winner asterisk.

Be kind of ironic if Star protested out of spite for Sexton ending Nichols’ night.

Protests are available and part of the process for a reason. What are you getting so emotional about? They either cheated or they didn't. If they did cheat they deserve a penalties they get.

How did red flags cost him the title? The red flag got thrown at the beginning of the race lol it’s not like it was thrown right before the white flag lol he should’ve made it happen again. Instead Sexton beat him. End of story.

What is the penalty to Star if the fuel passes?

I think it should work like a challenge call in the NFL. If you make the claim and it’s wrong you get penalized for it(NFL loses a timeout). This way a team thinks much harder about doing it.

Either way, we will see where this goes.
