Is there really much of a difference between the different bikes at the factory level? Aren't they getting the best of everything at that point?

Barcia seems to be able to make the YZF450 go pretty fast, but just can't do it consistently.

Yamahas 450 effort has not been good until this year. They hired Sergio to help with chassis, as well as another big name guy who really knows his shit will be joining the team for next year. Yamaha is making the necessary moves.

Sooo...let's go back to Daytona. How was he there?

Personally, I like riders who are aware of where the leaders are, and if they're a non-factor in a race, they know not to interfere in it. It beats the option.

So far I see Bogle calling it a day. Frustrating because I think he could be top 5 top 8 but the big crash while someone cross jumped him unintentionnally killed his momentum and it seems he didn't recover. I really wish him well because concussions should be taken seriously.

Maybe the salary won't be great and a trade with Barcia's ride is not impossible. I still think it would be a better deal to sign with RMATV because there are more probabilities to score results than on the yzf. I am yam fan but that is just painful to watch their 450 effort. DV would be a huge asset to this team.

Then I think Cooper is on the top of list to replace Musquin the day he retires.

I personally think Ferrandis will be on a factory bike. I don't see him riding for a factory supported team like RMATVMC.

I'm with you on Bogle. I wouldn't be surprised to see him call it a career and move on to other things.

Yamaha would be smart to keep Cooper. Younger and more upside than McElrath.
Mac does REALLY well on a 450. I could see Yamaha putting him on 1 if he tests well.

But AP's defense, that track played to none of his strengths. No ruts, no mud, not rough. It was the last place in the world you'd expect him to shine. I hope the tracks get better for the next 6 rounds.
someone have to be the 8-12 place guy aswell, who should he really be faster than? not the top 5 just yet.

GNCC XC3 2021 champ. A lot of the reason RV has been putting in time on the YZ125, give AP a good base to work with.

Him being an Ohio guy, I root for him! I want to see him succeed on a 450. Even going back to 250 days, he was never a great starter and never blitzed through the field to make passes. When you take those things into account, his results don’t surprise me. He has shown flashes on a 450, maybe being at the goat farm helps him! The track yesterday was far from something he excels on!

I don’t think Cooper is a solid comparison personally! Webb showed some amazing flashes during 250 days, his ride at 2015 MXofN and beating Herlings at Charlotte. AP never had those kind of performances. As much as I want to see AP succeed, I just don’t see him as a championship level guy on a 450. That’s okay, far more guys aren’t than are!

You do realize that Yamaha extended his contract through 2021 right? AP didn’t force them to do that. Yamaha wanted to extend his contract so I don’t see how McElrath or Ferrandis eyeing that spot would change anything. Plus you’ll see Ferrandis on Orange next year.

Plessinger is not awful. The bike he is riding is awful for supercross. Plessinger ruled on the 250. It's the bike.

See Cooper Webb for example.

Rinse and repeat.

Though somewhat of a unpopular opinion I think this statement has merit. The big blue bike seems behind and has made great riders look not so much. In the 250’s give me a blue bike all day long, those Star Racing bikes haul ass!

It’s all chassis driven on the 450. That and boingers. Any team can produce broad useable power. It’s how the bike handles that makes a difference. The Yamaha turns well, and handles things well. When you start putting gobs of power and stiffening everything up like crazy it struggles. Here’s to hoping they sort it out at the factory level and get Ferrandis. With KTM basically having 4 teams next year that’s a bit ridiculous. Hoping for some parity with manufacturers
