There is nobody that comes even close to covering the weekly happenings of the sport like Steve on his Pulp MX Show. Watching the races on the weekend and listening to his Monday show makes it feel like you have an inside source to a lot of whats happening on the inside. When you add in the race reviews (Sundays) and previews (Thursdays) there isnt much that isnt covered. I like almost all of the hypothetical situations Steve puts out there for debate. I've often thought of his show almost like having the ability to go through Vital, pick out a handful of threads, and get the most connected guys in the sport's opinion.

The Whiskey Throttle seems like the place to go if you want to learn about a given riders story. I get a tad annoyed with Ping or GL interrupting etc like everyone but they do a good job and have great guests. With that said, Steve has his own show where he gets guests and goes through their story almost weekly as well.

That being said, I’m glad the Whiskey Throttle Show doesn’t spend a lot of time speculating on quads, talking to some baseball guy, discussing e-bikes and hot tubs, or critique Darkside’s performances. Love the Pulp Show, but if it was condensed with less fluff, it would be even better.

Over the past year Steve has spent a ludicrous amount of time doing sponsor reads or weaving ads into the show. The e bike talk is all about selling intense bikes. His guests ...at least one every show is about a sponsor plug and I feel like the opinion unbiased that got him to where he is has been very diluted. 20min commercial breaks and easily another 3-5mins of sponsor reads soon as he comes back in, not to mention show guests and intermittent sponsor reads have become WAY too much.

I get it, he has to pay the Bill's but jesus it seems to have become very excessive like his Canadian pharmacy insulin reads lately.

Whiskey throttle is much more content filled at the moment, I'm not hating on steve but dam the show has certainly changed.
Yeah I get paying the bills also, but 20 minute commercial breaks are a little much. Do sponsors get much coverage when everyone FF thru them?

To me it’s like the top 10 at American idol, at this point we all know it’s good... but only one great!

Two, 12 minute commercial breaks in a nearly 5 hour show. Is it really that crazy?

And it's mostly a podcast, so it's not like he can rely on banners or product placement. Also, working for 5 straight hours with no break would be ridiculous.

Another thing about the intense complainer, Steve has lost a ton of weight and looks to be really enjoying every minute on that bike. No wonder he plugs them so often, they've literally improved his life.

Really enjoy Steves one on ones. The PulpMx is too much sponsorship these days. The quality of the show last year has really slipped.

This 100% ^^^
Even though it's free, we are the end consumer and the balance of legitimate content v paid/influenced is definitely swayed to, I guess, Steve trying to cash out soon?
Again to add, I never miss his interviews.

I like them both, but you won't usually find me sitting for hours to listen so I listen to a bit here, and a bit there.

Mathes's rant of the week this week about ping was so good, I know there is two sides to every story but ping came across like an absolute douche. Lying about figures and saying steve greases his pockets for the live shows was a low blow.

You act like you can’t pass the spam. You’re not listening to AM radio. The the Tire guy comes on I scroll past it. Whiskey will run out of MX icons to interview.

I can only take so much Matthes.

Growing up my family was very casually into trail riding. I was obsessed with moto, but could only convince my parents to take me to race once a year. Then cops started cracking down on dirtbikes where we rode, so we quit and I sold my CR80. Eventually, I started watching races again. I started listening to DMXS and then Pulp, and after a 24-year hiatus I bought another bike not knowing a single other person who rode. This wouldn't have happened without Steve. Since I was just a kid the last time I rode I didn't pay attention to maintenance or setup, but I've learned a ton listening to 423 episodes of Steve, Keefer, Berluti, etc.

Ive never sat through a youtube podcast of pulpmx tho but I have listened to every show since mid 200s in the traditional podcast format from start to finish for the most part.
I do miss a privateer island every now and then.

THE BEST way is to listen in the car while youre driving to and from work or pretty much anywhere. I connect my phone to my car speakers (through a $20 amazon fm transmitter because my car doesnt have bluetooth)

I just start where I left off everytime I get in the car and stop when I turn off my car and carry on. For the most part I drive enough that I finish PulpShow everyweek in time for the next its great! I get caught laughing in my car all the time by passer bys lol

A more accurate comparison is the RacerX pulp history pods that Steve does with riders... PulpMX is modelled on Stern. Whiskey Throttle is a live interview.

I actually enjoy front end chatter the most out of their show. I've enjoyed quite a few whiskey pods but also knew the majority of the stories from Steve's older stuff... But hearing bench racing, opinions and gossip is always interesting.

They're both good though, and there's plenty to go around. Pretty disappointed in both of them that they're carrying on like this though, because we all miss out on their interaction and entertainment.

It just sounds like they're both being a bit retarded. Asking for 400 bucks to shit talk moto for a night when others are being paid 100? And the shot about greasing pockets, come on bro... and then bickering over downloads vs this or that. It's not a famine, we're all listening to both. Who gives a fuck who gets more?

I like them both equally. They are #1a and #1b for the moto podcasts I listen to, along with the RacerX/Matthes race reviews and miscellaneous RacerX pods that Weigandt puts out. After that I listen to a reasonable amount of DMXS and Swapmoto but not everything.

I used to like Main Event Moto a lot but Blair has kind of driven that show downhill from its original days. The bits with Hobo Nick and Ginolfi were great in the early years, now neither of them ever come on and Daniel mostly just wants to talk about things he doesn't know anything about (infectious disease for example). Since the COVID-19 arrival I've just had to go clippy-clippy on MEM which is sad because I was there from episode 1.

Regarding Ping and Matthes, it is really too bad they had such a massive falling out. Some of the Pulp shows with Ping in studio were absolutely hilarious. I mean, "I'm pulling the car over to the side of the road because I'm laughing too hard" kind of funny. I'm sure 20 years from now these guys will cross paths and realize it was just ridiculous to kill a friendship over political views. Anyway, I love 'em both.

I work in a job that requires me to wear earmuffs all day, so it's perfect for listening to pod casts, I never miss a Pulp show pod, I love the variety of Pulp Its got a bit of everything. With the Whiskey Throttle I pick and choose depending on the guest, so far I've only listened to two that have really interested me, Hart and RC and I enjoyed both of those interviews.

Neither, main event Moto is #1
There was a time I’d have been right there with you. But that show has been really disappointing since they went to RacerX. Love me some Hobo, and the better, funnier Blair brother.

That’s really cool, welcome back to the sport!

The Podcast/YouTube era has really created a sense of community in lots of different communities and they are also a great source for information. I like it.

Ping makes Ryno look sane.

PulpMX, not even close, even if some WTS are good, depends heavily of the guest. I used to like Electronic Ping back in the day, but his recent behaviour is just too much to take for me. That said, he does OK on his show, compared to GL. Each time a rider tries to tell a story, GL is like "One Time at Band Camp". It's sooo annoying !

Would you rather pay to listen or listen for free and suffer through some ads?

Honest question.

Agree! Step away from Vital for a bit and come back, it’s a wow moment. This place is indeed something!

I feel pulp is still must-listen, and feel like WT is very well done and a great way to learn a lot more about someone in the industry. I don’t see them as competition at all. Very different format, content, style, etc.

How can anyone complain about the breaks in Pulp? Is he supposed to do a 4-5 hour live show with no breaks?

I do appreciate Ping keeping his political ideas off the show, I wish Steve would get better at it. Everything is so fucking political these days I just want to escape it.

Pulp is 99.999% moto though so this is just nitpicking
