I just can't wait for the tax increases ... gonna be ridiculous. As for opening up... I see both sides, I haven't stopped working at all... well 'cept for today the truck is in the shop, so I would like to see as much as possible opened back up as quickly as possible. If anyone thinks this is the first and last time government is going to go this extreme you're an idiot. When certain individuals see how much power they can wield upon others it will be too much to resist.

It's time, here in CA we're an order of magnitude under what they expected case wise and hospitals are absolute ghost towns. Yet, despite the numbers, they're still tightening restrictions and violating individuals rights on a daily basis, going the complete opposite direction as we should be. The bottom line is this is going to have to make its rounds, we can't just sit around with our thumbs up our ass and wait a year + for a vaccine, this is not at all turning out to be nearly as deadly or overwhelming as they initially thought and our approach needs to reflect that. Maybe stay away from huge gatherings of 10k or more, but there's absolutely no reason we need mandatory masks or restaurant closures at this point, we're just prolonging the inevitable with no endgame plan in sight.

Hell the Air Force cadets graduated today. they figured it out. Figure it out.
They figured it out by not letting family and friends (fans) attend at all. And spaced all the cadets 8 feet apart. And didn't call them up individually to get their diplomas.

You could almost do that sort of thing in an auto racing event, but not too many other types of "sports". In nearly every other type of sport it would be impossible to keep all the competitors 8 feet apart like the AF Academy did for their participants.

This is going to be a difficult transition, no matter how we look at it.

My county has had one death and less than 30 cases, but the economic devastation will be much worse than the virus. They should at least start breaking it down locally in terms of restrictions, because what we need out in the Sierras is way different than what they need in downtown LA of San Francisco in terms of social distancing etc.
I can't but feel there is a little zeal in the authoritarian crackdown as they consider how to apply it to other "problematic" human activities in relation to things like climate change, fossil-fuel consumption etc. There are people that want everything shut down to save the plants and animals and they sure got their wish with this one.

I live in Southwest Utah. There has actually been very little change here. The schools are closed, but most other businesses have stayed open the entire time. Restaurants are open for take out but no dining inside. If you listen to the "experts," there should be dead bodies in the streets by now, but as of yesterday, there were only two people hospitalized for CV in the entire 5 counties that are being grouped together statistically. The hardest hit business in my town has been the hospital. They have stopped doing "elective procedures" and there haven't been enough sick people to keep them busy. Lots of nurses and support staff laid off. Despite the lack of a lockdown the medical disaster never happened. But the economic one did. Most of the people I know, including myself, believe we all had the virus back in December and January, before we knew that we were supposed to be scared of it. We are the "gateway to Zion National Park" and the place is usually crawling with Chinese tour groups that were still coming after the outbreak started in Wuhan. I guess we'll find out when antibody tests are available.

Funny how you can buy flowers at a big store with a garden center but your local florist is shut down. Playing God and picking winners and losers shouldn't be left to politicians.
To add to what 7said ^^^ I was in the ER last Tues with a friend and the place was practically empty! With minimal staff.
Oh now the headline in yesterday's paper "Brown county sees massive surge in covid19 cases" ... that's convenient timing for the Gov... hmmmm I smell something.

ER rooms are empty all across the US. And yet there are people preaching to riders that you shouldn’t be on your bike just in case you get hurt because you don’t want to be a burden on the poor overworked hospitals. Bullshit. Unless you are riding in Central Park your local hospital is as empty as they’ve ever been. Our tenant who rents from us just got furloughed here in San Diego county due to lack of patients.

Everyone wearing gloves that isn’t taking care of a patient pisses me off. the mask In public is ridiculous too. Mandate everyone wear a mask because people can’t stay home and cough all over others. DUMB.

Hold your sneezes. Cough into your shoulder. Wash your hands. How hard is this concept ? Can’t fix stupid.

My favorite is when a patient sensationalizes themselves being sick. Can sit outside the room for 20 minutes charting. Walk in and when you get 1 foot away from them to push a med they look at you and COOIUGGHHHH HAAAACCKKK and moan.

Really? I just sat out here while you been finger bangin your phone / taking selfies / calling everyone to tell them you’re clearly dieing and was tested for the rona. And everytime a caregiver walks in then you wanna cough and hack all over ? WHY?!
I had the same experience from my 1st and only visit to a pain center after back surgery. A group of 20-50 year old people moaning and grunting at every move, then almost skip out of the office with their scrip.

One of the reasons your rural county, although your profile says you live in Sacramento, has so few cases is because of the the restrictions that have been put in place to keep you isolated. From personal experience, having lived and worked in the Sonora area for the last 10 years, the local economies in those areas are driven by tourism. All those Sportsmen who camp and hike and fish and raft the rivers not to mention the hordes of tourists who visit the big trees and Yosemite are what sustains your restaurants, hotels and local businesses. Are you willing to embrace the very people who will likely infect the local population? That may not be what you need to keep you safe in the Sierra. Be careful what you wish for.

I follow auctions on govdeals.com and the trend right now is to restrict auctions to residents of the state that the assets is in. Looked at stuff in ky, ia, and nb that had that restriction.

You have to send them a photo of your driver's license showing residency to complete the transaction.

A bunch of stuff in paducah, ky I would be interested in bidding on, but can't because tn is 30 miles from them. Missouri is about the same, and Arkansas is about 50.

Hell they probably have people from out of state working there.

Just can't believe that they would limit the bidder pool which has to lower money made on the items when social distancing would be pretty easy.

I just want our outdoor stuff opened up. Such as beech's , boat ramps , parks , trails , ECT..... I could go without everything else for a while , but God damn it , some of us need outdoor activities.

Utah opened back up state parks. last week i couldn't go to a lake 5 miles from my house because it's located in a different county. but that's been lifted.

in my opinion it's very important that the government allows it's citizens to be able to enjoy their outdoor freedoms albeit with some obviously necessary tighter guidelines. when i drive by parks people are out enjoying the warm April weather safely and distanced from other people.

Texas Parks are back open. My local Chik Fil A had a couple employees test positive last week so they shut two locations down for sanitizing and employee testing and quarantine....dammit. They had their drive through set up and rocking doing all the right things. Now 114 employees are sitting on the sidelines.

I live in Nevada County. I read a front page story that said all the Bay area people are filling up the Airbnbs out here because they are all trying to escape their homes and turn this into a vacation. So the lockdown has actually had the opposite effect, since nobody is working and they are sick of being at home, they actually want to come out here.
I have no idea if the lockdown reduced the spread out here. I assume it did, but we don't know for certain. My neighbor had an emergency operation and said the hospital is barren of people.
Personally, I think the lockdown is extreme overkill, but I am obeying it. I don't want to get sick either. But my main concern is how many of my friends that work in service industry of have local businesses are going to survive.California was already extremely tough economically.

There is someone over in moto related who will tell you that they were non essentials.

Blows me away at how short sighted some people are. Best of luck to all of them, hope they get hired back.

We've got over a million vehicles just sitting doing nothing. Amazing how things can be going so great one minute and how prepared you can be for any natural disaster you could imagine, and the next minute bam! The smartest guy in our shop was about to hit his 20 year anniversary in the company in a couple more weeks, gone. My boss and my boss's boss, gone. Several other good coworkers, gone, along with many many other people across the company. Not sure how I made the cut, had to be selection by darts. I'm getting a pay cut which I don't mind but it's not going to be fun around here any time soon.
