I think Ralph does a great job and he actually knows a lot. I do think it’s time to change it up though.

This was the first time I ever muted a race, and I did it right after Ralph said that Daytona "is THE biggest dirt bike race in the WORLD"

Couldnt believe what I heard.

Anyone catch Ralph talking about Sexton's "man-body" and how chase is "filling out". My wife looked at me and asked me if this announcer really just said that. I said yes dear.....Ralph throws out some bizarre shit. Hahaha
I heard him getting awkward and pausing before he uttered that and knew he would say something ridiculous, and it was way worse than I thought it would be. Literally did a facepalm. You cant just say he's been putting on muscle/weight? "His mmmmmmmmmaaaaan body."

The man body comment was cringe worthy and laugh out loud all at the same time. I thought I heard him say “tail piece” or some stupid shit when someone’s rear wheel kicked, maybe it was the Red Barron? The incoherent yelling, stupid stories, gibberish mixed with homosexual innuendo and treating viewers like they’ve never even heard of mx/sx racing is downright awful. If NBC doesn’t figure it out this year there’s no hope for a change.

I liked when he said marchbanks likes to pack up his 4 by 4 and go 4 by 4ing but that he was doing good 2 wheeling tonight. My wife was like “I didn’t want to say anything but these commentators are really bad. You don’t think they’re doing a good job do you”

She’s right. They’re both bad.

Best one of the night:

Come back from commercial break before 450 heat 1 to see the dozer rolling off the whoops, RC and Ralph discuss it. Race starts, on first lap as riders are coming over the finish line jump, Ralph says something like “and now we get to see how rolled down these whoops are now.” I’m thinking “a bit early there Ralph, those dont come up for a few sections,” assuming he’s just made the mistake of forgetting where they are on the track but will realize it when he sees them. Then as the riders go down the choppy straight before the turn after the finish line, I hear from Ralph “wow those whoops are really smoothed out.” He saw that straight and genuinely thought it was just whoops that had been rolled over. Forgetting that it’s the completely wrong section of the track, I actually laughed to myself at the idea that the play by play guy for the sport could somehow think what he was seeing on screen were smoothed out whoops Grinning

I’ve found that if you take a shot of tequila at every gate drop, and another shot at every checkered flag, pretty soon it’s just 3 drunk guys watching the race with one guy that likes to talk a lot.

Ralph looked hot last night, wonder what his health program is? Hair was perfect. RC is thinking about how he would smoke the field back in the day. Must be hard to not say shit like " I would have launched that whole fuk in section and passed everyone in front of me, my bad..ain't nobody in front of me "

BTW, I think the goal is to speak a bit to people familiar with SX while entertaining and educating new fans that are giving it a look.

I'm still trying to figure out how TWO guys can be 1,2, and 3 in the championship.

Barcia gets slightly off balance over the triple, throws his right leg out a bit. Ralph says" there must be something wrong with his bike, he's trying to kick something in the air"

Eventually it will get so bad that all we will hear is Ralph randomly barking out colors and numbers.

About 10 minutes in my 13 year old asked “who is that talking?” I told him Ralph. He said “he doesn’t know what he is talking about” then spent the rest of the evening tearing Ralph a new one. It was not a good night for Ralph.

Easy to rag on Ralph. When you watch the post-race recap he's not under pressure and does a good job. I've said it before, but when he commentates in other motorsports it's like he doesn't take his spaz pills, and is the equivalent of a Langston or Weege. No joke.

Ralph's best comment was "Blake Bagget got tossed off" after he crashed on the 450 main start

Then we had RC with "he grew up there, his entire life!".... And not once, but twice last night....

That was hilarious when RC went silent mode for a couple of minutes after Chad's holeshot. Was so amazed that he didn't believe what he just saw, or completely missed it? Or both

Well, at least he didn't call the end of the race a lap early.

Sure loves the Seven Deuce Deuce, though.

Ralph was in fine form last night. The "Man Body" and "2-wheelin" bits along with slobbering all over DAAAAYTONA THE BIGGEST RACE OF THE YEAR (it's not) were causing my ears to bleed.

Which was nice, because my eyes were also bleeding from the show director once again choosing to show :30-40 seconds of a rider who crashed on the first lap, and is sitting off-track staring at his downed machine, instead of you know, sticking with the action on the most action packed lap of the race: LAP ONE. (this happened more than once last night)

Or having the cameras following the 6th place rider, who's all alone, instead of the developing battle for a podium spot up ahead.

No please, I like watching the boring stuff, who wants to see the action?

Once again, masterful show calling.

Always love when he calls the race winner one lap early because he doesn't pay attention to the white flag.

Barcia had dirt stuck under his peg from his tip-over. He kicked his peg up.. being a racer surely you have had that happen many times and would know that. Ralph obviously is smarter than you.

Do you guys all sit in front of the TV set and think about things to bitch about? Is this the cry baby thread of machoism next day keyboard commentators?

RC does a superb job and Ralph does great. I have a suggestion for all of you, turn the volume off if you don’t like it.
