Said this in the race day thread, but heaven forbid the riders have to actually slow down for an obstacle instead of the track builders making it easier for them. It's BS. Like Reed said about the dragon's back, there's this thing on the right side of the handlebar that controls how fast you go.

I remember when whoops were so big the back of the pack literally had to roll through them.

Maybe the riders spoke up and said that section is too sketchy. Or maybe they saw in the first two races of the night 15 riders got claimed by them in the first lap.

Track crew can’t win with you guys.

No riders complain about dragons back - track crew idiots for not fixing it.

Whoops claim 15 riders in two laps - track crew idiots for reshaping them.

No sense in taking out half the field on the first lap. We always complain about trying to keep the riders safe. They did what was best for the safety of the riders...

Like reed said, that thing on the right doesn’t always need to be cracked wide open. It’s almost like this is a highly skilled sport that has dangerous consequences...

If it doesn't feel safe, slow down. Nobody is forcing them to go any faster than their ability allows.

I mean, as we just saw, even the GOAT almost went down in the whoops earlier tonight. I think they made the right decision, lol

No, just pointing out the contradictory nature of a lot of the users here.

The best thing for the safety of the riders is for them to stay home. If they want to race, figure out how to race the track, not cry because it takes skill to go fast.

If you can’t skim the whoops, don’t.
Back in 04, 05, 06 ..... it was common that some nights, lots(maybe most)of the lites riders would jump the whoops from practice through the main.
Like Vegas 06, it was clear RC would be fine because even the lites riders were skimming the whoops that night.

The whoops were so tough that even a medical guy wiped out running next to them. Cool

Coming from Reed, who was the biggest whiner about track design and safety when he was fast, it’s pretty ironic. 🙄

By the time they changed the whoops, Roczen and Tomac looked like they were riding on flat ground. Also did anyone else notice how little passing there was? The track seemed it was ser up too fast, with the exception of the one off camber the riders looked like they were riding a trials course. Wink

Was the track too narrow or something.? Whatever it was, it was sketchy in some sections like the whoops and straight up bizarre in others.

What do you guys do at your local track when there’s an obstacle that’s out of your skill level? Personally I slow down.

Fair call to tame the whoops if everyone is piledriving themselves in them............but if two 250 riders get loose and cause two pile-ups, take notice and wait just ten minutes longer and see how the 450 riders, you know, the best supercross riders on the planet, handle them.
If there's still a problem, knock em down. If not, leave it be.

Soft C#%k onion. This is SUPERCROSS. Its supposed to be the gnarliest of obstacles. If they pussify the obstacles then they should drop SUPER out of the name.

All for big whoops - but having them enter after a jump brings the speed up for sure.

I was about to comment on this, the track looked super tight in the whoops and the rhythm section afterwards may be a couple of other areas. Not sure if this contributed to the one lined racing or not but couldn’t have helped.

I remember a few years back, Ricky saying that if one of the riders on his team (Tickle?) went any slower that he was just going to fall over.
All of the riders looked like that last night in a couple of places on the track. It was like "follow the leader" through a trials section, rather than a supercross race in those spots.

Corners were way to wide. No one is gonna take the outsides when you have to cover 4 X the distance.

The whoops weren't the problem, hitting them in 4th gear was. Track design in that area was poor. There WAS another sand whoops section they eliminated after practice. Why?

Yeah they were a bit peaky and just about killed a few 250 riders that was hard to watch, they needed to round them up a bit. Woohoo
