Thinking of putting this up for sale to fund my son a YZ125. Original 1995 CR250. Runs great.

the real question is, how much money do you need to mask the regret you will have?

I've been looking at getting this exact bike but the values keep rising making it not worth it to me personally. I would say asking $2,500 wouldn't be unreasonable and you could get that from someone that wants that specific bike. However, I see a bunch of current gen YZ250's for $2,800 and up so if someone is looking for a cheap 2 stroke that's probably where they'll land. However, for someone that has an emotional connection to the bike that wouldn't matter as much.

My buddy had one completely rebuilt and it took him a long time to try and sell it for around $2000.

$1500 seems like the usual minimum of what most 95/96 CR250's are selling for.. the right buyer will pay closer to $2000+ for a clean well sorted bike.

I'm thinking $1,500-$1,700. Unless you're strapped for cash, I'd just keep it as a backup.

Going for about $1800 in Seattle area. I’d hang onto it if possible. Sold a CR 500 a few years ago. Still one of my biggest regrets.

I'd be happy to get $2k in SoCal. I'd list it at $2,4k and would expect to sell it within a week or two of listing it.
I'd want to add some more shine to the seat before I listed it thought, ha!

I'd pay up to $2,000 if it was truly legit in person.

Get rid of one of those Yamahas in the background. Throw $500 in modern showa forks, Honda of Troy graphics and keep that bike forever. You'll regret the $1300 to $2400 your going to get for that bike.

There’s one on eBay right now super low hour for 3500. If that thing is original like it looks 2500 all day long To the right guy, if you were close to Cleveland I’d buy it right now . Compared to modern bikes it’s just another bike but they are awesome bikes in general and I vintage race which is really popular right now. I paid 1850 for this bike but I couldn’t find another one to restore. Honestly I should have only paid 900 cuz it was F***ed up.

This thread makes me wonder why CamP doesn't post here anymore. He had a super low hour 95 CR...thing was mint. Cool guy as well.

Hell, makes me wonder why so many of the quality people/posters don't hang out here anymore.

Geography plays a part... in the northeast, where decent older bikes are few & far between it’s a 2500.00 all day long... I just paid 1300.00 for a 94 that is pretty much original but needs a full going through.

I'd say asking price of $1700-1900. There seem to be a lot of them floating around. It's a testament to what solid bikes they were, but it also hurts the value.

As some have suggested don’t do it. I sold a 2nd 93 model owned in 2007 all original down to the tires & grips for $1,800.
I’ve been looking for another one to replace it the last 5 yrs. with no success.
The 92-96 CR2’s are some of the most sought after dirt bikes. I regret ever selling mine.

Man, no kidding. I'm looking for another project bike and I'm going "You want WHAT for that?!"
The funny thing is they are still for sale at that price months later. Make me think they
hit the bong too much and are just sorta sitting on it.

Cam moved to the country and not sure if he does much riding anymore.

You'd get $2000-2400 here in Saint Petersburg for that bike I'd imagine

Might be a silly question but why doesn't your kid ride the CR? I get its an older 250 and having a newer YZ125 would be great but that CR is a hell of an amazing bike. Like someone before said maybe spend the funds on suspension and fresh graphics, that bike will look and ride killer and I guarantee your kid will be having people crowding your pit to check it out.

I do have a CRF 450 frontend for it. Just haven’t gotten around to installing. I’ve looked for one to resto since this is mostly original. But honestly I never ride it.

The 250 motor from 92 to 2002 were in my opinion the best 250 race engine you could buy..... man they were fun to ride when you were fresh......way better than the engines in the 2000's cr 250's with the electric power valve....

Mine was $2000 and I was going to pay that if it was straight.....but it was not, and as soon as I pointed out to the seller that half the spokes were gone and the other half were loose and anyone riding that bike like that was on his way to the hospital.......I ended up paying 1200 for it......but probably have 2500 into it.......the wheels were so bad I thought I had two flat tires when I test rode it......but it was complete and I bought it....glad I did......
