They call it real estate speculation for a reason, it's a gamble not a sure thing.
Same folks invest in real estate with a friend and lose--and the friend "stole muh munny".... smh
Moral of the Story: Don't do business with friends.
Looking forward to listening to the show later today. Albee's heyday was while I was in the Navy, so I don't know a whole lot about him. I missed the majority of it due to deployments.
Combine that with the general lack of advanced education, and I’d bet that most have been taken advantage of or invested poorly at a higher rate than the average person.
But one big gripe. Please for the love of God invest in proper desk microphones instead of those stupid head sets. Listening to you all breathe and lick your lips etc just winds me up so much. Reminds me of that one friend we all have that eats with their mouth open ! Grrrrr
Albee DNF'd 3 motos that year, Everts 5, including two in the opener, another later, and the two with the collarbone which clearly killed him the rest of the year thereafter... whilst Demaria crushed them both towards the end of the season.
I've argued before Everts doesn't win 10 with Albee and Tortelli staying home, and I believe that, but that didn't sound like a fair representation of the 94 season. 93 he did stomp them though.
Pit Row
Great to hear Langston’s admiration for his countryman and Ping’s recollections of that time period. A lot of folks(me included) experienced investment struggles(Arizona for me too Ping) during that time. Certainly was an experience a lot of us homeowners/investors will never forget.
Keep up the great work gentlemen. Whiskey Throttle and you two are a true asset to the moto community. 👍
Just goes to show, if you are corrupt, you’re never safe from the story being told one day.
I’ve got both season reviews and have worn them out. It’s no contest 93 Albee was on the better bike and a better rider, it’s an amazing season to watch and cool tracks also.
94 you could argue it had flipped, but Stefan compared didn’t get the breaks except the bad ones.
Glad to hear he’s doing well. I get annoyed by overly preachy people too, but Greg’s classy about it and not doesn’t over do it. I didn’t think twice about it. I enjoyed his story about his mother’s dream.
Great podcast! Thanks GL and Ping!
Also, Ping, is there somewhere we can find info on the music you play during the intro/outro’s?
One DNF in Ernee with busted radiator (Rider error to crash)
I can't remember the other two reasons at the season opener.
My point is, even if you say Everts would've won if he didn't DNF- well it was his fault he DNF'd, no-one else's.
Was it rider error he crashed and did the radiator or collarbone? Did Albee also not crash throughout the year and have nothing happen? Hence... what if.
The reason I brought it up was the way Albee dismissed their DNFs as cancelling each other out. Stefan had two more and a hangover from an injury. Albee rightly should have walked the title given the circumstances from 2/3s of the way through the series.
I can't remember his next couple years but it seemed at the end of 94 you'd think he's next. He didn't start great but he was a beast later on – obviously particularly on the hardpack.
His 94 MXdN first moto was also scaldingly fast.
