last year he was leading the pack after round 5 with 106 points , round 6 and 7 he messed up .and dropped to 4th

he is super fast at times like we all know he can be , in control at other times
so far no mistakes and thats important , cant finish outside top 5 in this class or 12th like he did last season
Points wise he’s probably similar to last year but the difference is in the riding in my opinion. He has two convincing wins already whereas when he took the points lead last year he had one triple crown main win and a win at a complete mudder.

He could absolutely throw this away as he has done in the past but I believe this is the best things have looked for him this early in the season.

Yep, gotta love the guys discrediting him, he just past rj for sx wins. Best rider in the world last 3 years, sx,mx wins, titles. . But dont let stats, facts get in the way. Oh he hasnt won a sx title, neither has musquin, kroc. Etc. And tomac still has titles and more wins to show for it.
You mean best rider in America, right??
Since the title of the subject is Tomac got this and we are talking sx/mx I would say we are talking ama USA racing.

Tomac has only had 2 races outside the top ten since 2018 supercross. DNF at Red Bud moto 1 in 2018 and a 12th at Arlington last season. That’s a 70+ moto/race stretch where he has been incredibly consistent. I think it’s safe to say that the idea that he will just throw it away is an outdated and lazy term that Eli haters use.

Well, no. The facts are, Cooper Webb was the best rider in SX last year. Do not understand your logic there. Anderson was the best in 2018. He has no SX title to show for it yet. He has been the best outdoors for sure.

It's true that Webb was the SX champ last year. It doesn't follow though that everyone thinks he is therefore the 'best' rider.
My definition of the best rider is the guy who through the season consistently sets the fastest single lap time of the day.

Tomac has his Arlingtons, just like Napoleon had his Waterloo. We are 5 races in with 12 to go. Its kind of dumb to predict that Tomac 'got this' at this point of the season when the field is closer in qualifying this year, including the 2019 and 2018 champs. Three of his last six 450 seasons he finished down off of the red plate by 38 points or more. Tomac can have a bad night at anytime. Huh

Maybe? We’ll all know for sure when the final checkered flag of the season is waved.

I think Webb is going to get back to the front and give Tomac all he can handle. I hope they take it to the final round.

Here is what I think will happen. Tomac gets 2-3 terrible starts during the remaining rounds and only makes it back up to around 4th-8th during those races. Webb consistently gets better starts, finishing on the podium regularly, and taking a few wins or more. The points tighten up.

I was meaning, total.wins mx,sx and 3 titles in a row. No rider in the world has had those stats in the last 3 years. Mxgp guys dont race sx. But nobody has 3 in a row in mxgp racing. Or the amount of wins.

Tomac and Roczen are the undisputed heavyweight stars of this series. Nobody else in the series is really even close to them. Nobody really tunes in to see what Webb will do. They plop their asses down looking for Tomac's charge and to a bit lesser degree Roczen. Tomac is the fan favorite to win this series. If he rides to his ability, he simply can't be beat. Problem is, he doesn't always do this. It's going to be a great series.

Does Tomac ride with anyone else at the Kawi track while he's in Cali? I'm guessing he hasn't been riding in Colorado for a while. AC has been in Florida most of the time right? Does PC practice with him? He seems so rusty to race with other guys the first month of SX every year. Seems like he's been super careful to not get mixed up with anyone early in the season this year to not go down and damage the bike or himself.

I think both of them were in California quite a bit since mid-December. Tomac because he will have episodes of winter in Cortez, and AC because he's training with Nick Wey. Not sure how much they rode together but I do remember seeing AC's IG stories showing them doing starts together.

Yeah, I never understand that thinking either.

1960 World Series:

New York Yankees = 55 runs
Pittsburgh Pirates = 27 runs

Champion was Pittsburgh 4-3 in the series. Go figure.

Why does stewarts sx win totals come up then? Dungey, Rv. Have more titles than him. Of course titles mean more. But when no rider has a sx title, kroc, musquin. Wins count after titles was my point. Ask the warriors in the nba. Best record ever, lost to the cavs in the finals.

I think what mxb2 was trying to say is that over the course of the last three years no one has consistently been better than Tomac. No he hasn’t won every title but he has won more than anyone else in the sport during that time and has only missed one race due to injury over those three years.

Anyone else who would be in this conversation has missed multiple races with injury over the past few years and has not won races and titles as often as Tomac.

If this goes to Salt lake within a few points between Roczen and Eli.. I have to put my money on KR. His starts are just dialed and KR seems to thrive under massive pressure where something always happens to Eli

“no one has consistently been better than Tomac.”

I don’t get it!

In terms of SX..
Dungey was consistently better than Tomac in 2017
Anderson was consistently better than Tomac in ‘18
Webb was consistently better than Tomac in ‘19.

If I’m not mistaken..

Having more of the quote might help you understand. Over the past 3-4 years who has racked up more race wins or titles than Tomac? No one. He has not won every race or every title but who could you say has legitimately been better than him overall the past few seasons? I'm not speaking about one season in particular, I'm talking about the span of the last 3-4 years.

The original reference was SX and MX. The entirety of the US season. 3 outdoor championships, more wins SX and MX than anyone else.

Each of those is one year of the 3-4 years being commented on... What don't you Tomac haters get?

'16 SX 4 - '17 SX 2 - '18 SX 3 - '19 SX 2

'16 MX 2 - '17 MX 1 - '18 MX 1 - '19 MX 1

That's an exact average points finish of 2nd for the last 4 years of SX and MX. Can anyone else touch that?

Webb over that same period?

'16 SX 1 - '17 SX 13 - '18 SX 9 - '19 SX 1

'16 MX 1 - '17 MX 8 - '18 MX 9 - '19 MX 6

Average points finish over the last 4 years? 6th...

And I'm not even a huge Tomac fan.... Sheesh.
