I don't think we'll see a "break out" from him; rather, a slow, methodical rise. He wasn't healthy going into the season and now doesn't have momentum on his side. He's fast, but the whoops were a major problem for him last week and he hasn't had the greatest starts.

Once he gets more comfortable and picks up momentum he'll be a consistent podium guy, and from there he'll have to reel in Kenny and Eli. It won't be easy.

Webb won last year because key riders had crap starts or were off their game. Cooper had great starts, a great bike...and was on his game. This year most (except ET3) are getting great starts, have great bikes...and are on their game again. Cooper doesn't have advantage this year.

IDK, how was he health wise last week (seriously asking as I dont know the answer)? He went backwards in every race, so that certainly wasn't good. Although I will admit I enjoyed it.

. Long season, but he's going to need to turn it around sooner than later if he's gonna make a run.

As with most recent years, depends on injuries. If the top guys stay healthy, I think he'll be a consistent podium threat, and might win one or two.

I at the very least expect him to improve on how he looks currently. Not saying he will regain last year's form. He may do that again too, but I would think (hope) that he at least can run up front a bit this year. Like mentioned above, he should get stronger as the series goes East.

The whoops KILLED him last week. He was so much slower through them than all the other top guys it was crazy.

JT$ mentioned that if he can get starts, then he can stay out front or ride a wide bike. If there's a whoop section, which seems to be his weak spot, he might only loose one or two spots. If he keeps starting in 3rd or 4th and struggles thru the whoops, we're going to see the same results as Glendale and 5ths and 6ths aren't going to win the championship.

I think this is a solid observation from JT$. If he can figure out his whoops, he's right there with Kenny and Eli.

This weekend should be good for him as I don't see the whoops holding up which plays into his favor.

He had a pretty bad race at STL, other than that he was pretty solid with 3-3-4. The whoops are killing him. And he needs his 2019 starts back if he wants to hang with KR and ET

I don’t see him winning the title again. Kenny and Eli are getting it done. Unless those two have DNF’s he’s not touching the trophy. Just seems so much more intense this year. He will be on the box many times but that’s about it. Outdoors forget about it, it’ll be another Tomac show

He just needs that one win and that sickness will be purged from his body. Then I think we will see him contending for wins almost every race. he gets real fast with confidence. He’s always been that way, even since minis.

Webb is interesting. It's never not weird for me to hear the announcers saying how the reining supercross champion struggles with the whoops. Webb also seems to live or die based on his start and either gets real racey up front or just rides around mid pack. All of that said, he wins by being consistent over an entire series and none of his rivals are known for consistency. He'll get some wins and keep it interesting imo. I think he'll need some luck to repeat as champ though.

What a load of shit, did you watch last season? He was incredible for the first half/three quarters of the season. Even when he had shocking starts or fell early on.

It’s pretty crazy that the SX champ can’t handle big whoops. Emig was the last SX champ to disdain them this bad and even he wasn’t getting passed by guys outside the top 10 in his prime. It’s odd hearing wait till we get to jumper whoops and then he will shine. IMO big whoops are needed in SX.

I would argue that he was also incredible in the last third Wink He kept his momentum and composure against Musquin and Tomac, he kept a good points margin all the way, which is not an easy task !

Did you read my post? Before you get your fanboy panties wadded, I said Cooper was on his game. But I also said some other major players were not. MC came on the scene on his Honda years ago, and pretty much smoked the field by getting great starts, having a great bike that was set up right...and he just shocked the shit out of the rest of the field, so much that they were all pretty much racing for second place. That reminds me of Coop last season. He was doing all the right things...and it paid off. This season, however might be another story.
