Is anyone currently using a steering damper to help with the twitchy front on higher speed acceleration chop? Tried tightening down the steering head nut some and my sag is around 103-105. I know showa makes some, wondering if anyone has used them or another brand?

Hey everyone thanks for all the good info. Im new to the party. Picked up a 2019 on December 4 th. Already wanted the new 450 but the info in this fourm helped me make the decision to go ahead with purchase.

Just finished up my 2020. It hasn't even touched dirt yet as I'm still healing up from two shattered ankles, hence the Jackass logo on the airbox haha. I went with the holographic finish from D'Cor Visuals and it looks sweet, even better in person.

I was a bit surprised actually at this as my ‘17 never needed one. But after a couple sketchy moments I just put a GPR v4 on it. Get the one with under bar mount and then a “universal low” bar bend (I forget if mine is fat bar or pro taper) and the bars will be at same height as stock.

That’s exactly what I went with. Didn’t want the bar to raise much more. Thanks for the info. Which setting did you decide on?

You might try getting a 116L chain and move the rear wheel back... helped a lot with that for me.

Actually the settings can be a little different for each damper due to manufacturing tolerances but for MX I generally have it around 2-3. I have used the GPR dampers since about 2008 and have had like 5 of them lol. The one I am using at the moment even on "1" was pretty stiff so I had them replace the oil with a lighter weight and now the 3 setting feels good. I set them up so that on the stand I can easily notice/feel the damping but I wouldn't characterize it as "stiff."

Not yet, but will. I picked up my 19' a little over a month ago. I grew up racing desert, eventually getting more serious and switching to worcs racing, and only raced local motocross the past few years but plan on getting back into the worcs scene this next season. This bike will be very good for this type of racing once I build up some upper body strength to handle the power.. Zach Bell, Jacob Argubright. and others have had plenty of success with this bike offroad and you can find lots of tech and info on their set ups.

I have a second set of suspension that was re-valved by Precision Concepts for off-road. It is unreal. Best off road set up I have ever ridden.
