125 2 stroke amateur class rocking it with the most entries!

The thing is, the kids class are the key to future. If the kids dont come in, they are the ones that come and go from the sport, and over a lifetime. The majority of Dirt Bike racers and riders pick it up as a kid. If the kids dont come in, the sport will suffer.

Some events, like the Jday and GNCC are doing really, really well, while the local MX scene seems really hit or miss.

Is the US economy on the improve? I wondered if that would transpire into more people being able to get back into the sport. Interested Aussie!

Completely ridiculous. A,b,c is enough (mixed engine size on non status races). 50+ can always race c.

One class per small bikes, 50, 65, 80.

LTM in Casey IL had over 700 bikes over the Labor day weekend. That's counting Sat practice, Sunday race and Monday open ride.
He always gets good turnout's and his track is awesome.

Offroad is big here as well. But that success has led to other issues.
We now have 4 different offroad series, all competing for the same riders. So what used to be huge rider counts are now down drastically. They're all trying to cash in. That will have to sort itself out over time.

Doing great up here in New England from what I’ve seen. Practice tracks have been packed every time I go and NESC pulls 20 to 30 450 Pro/A every weekend.

421 is one of my boys favorite tracks when we come to NC in the winter. East Bend usually pulls good numbers for it's races. Center Road is a Fun track in the area also. Havent been to Silver Valley but it looks like a big fast place.

I wouldn't even consider entering a day with that many races, how can you even run through that many races in a day??

I went to a smaller night track once. They do it by having super short moto’s. I went to a race one night and my first moto was less than three minutes. I parked on the finish line tabletop at scoring until the owner came out and talked to me. He told me I was full of crap so I showed him my heart rate monitor on my wrist.
I got my money returned for the two classes I signed up for and have never been back.
What a joke it was.

I get why there are so many classes, I get we need kids to have a future, but all the classes is the reason almost every one I know has quit racing. Does everyone think the need a trophy?

I been to races with 30 + classes and you could have just put all them classes in to 3 or 4 races and everyone just lined up on the same gate. We would have better racing and less time sitting waiting on one guy to run 5 laps in a class with one guy.

I believe there were 20 classes at the race I did yesterday. They were done by 4:30. Fine with me. Had a great time and I’m sure almost everyone else that showed up did as well. The biggest problem is that people treat racing like it’s a chore these days instead of enjoying it for what it is. I left after work on Friday and got home from the double header around 7:30 Sunday after stopping for supper on the way home. I’ve got no issues with that.

Local HS here in and around IA we get upwards of 200 riders. Enduro is a bit less as I think people are still a bit hesitant. At our last Enduro we had 124 riders.

Leadbelt, this past weekend, had more than 500 riders. Great trail & event. I started in the pouring rain and lightning. Not so hot on the lightning part though!

Not as involved in the Moto side as I was at one point a couple years ago when I worked at a local track and raced Moto occasionally but I feel like Missouri (at least the KC area) is doing fairly well comparatively to other parts of the country on the Moto side. I race hare scramble exclusively and all the local series seem to be pulling decent turnouts. I race FMHSC but I've heard from others that MHSC and MORE are getting solid turnouts too, 150+ entries is regular right now, 30+ in my class(sportsman) some races. There's been alot of rainouts this year but I definitely feel lucky to live where I do when it comes to racing and the number of people involved. It's not as good of a scene as when my grandpa was racing in the 70's but I don't that it's that good anywhere anymore really.

Our racing scene is at the point of no return. No more than 5 Pros (including myself) and 10 Intermediates showing up at the races. Less than a handful of riders will graduate to the Intermediate class each year and we’ll be lucky if 1 of those riders stays committed to the sport. Typically when you get to that level your in you’re mid-late teens and mom and dad stop funding/got to school/a job/can’t get hurt/etc.

The hare scramble circuit has absolutely blown up the last few years.

Jobs in Indiana are plentiful and wages are way up. Six years ago jobs started at 7.00 an hour to 12.00 skilled. Now you see non skilled starting at 12.00-15.00

Do they have Classes for Mazda RX8's and are they a good car for this type of racing ?
I just got this one in a trade , and I was wondering if people use them for any kind of auto cross , when I drive it , it reminds me of a two stroke power band.
Will be for sale soon , 2005 with 86k Miles. 6 speed manual.

I've only gone to watch one local race this year. Turnout was about half to 1/3 what it used to be 15 years ago.

Yeah it seems like people , myself included always thought money was the biggest issue, and right now I dont think that's the case anymore, people are spending money.
Look at the side by sides, The E-Bikes, The utility quads,
And lots and lots of other ways.

I get your point, however it does seem like recreation is up with new boats, ATVs etc selling well. I think this has more to do with people not wanting to race and really put the time in. Same argument could be said for sportbike racing. Plenty of riders on the street, but the races aren't what they used to be. Chalk it up to millennials being a softer generation, playing video games and E-sports, who knows

I don't think money has anything to do with it either. Almost everyone I know has a new 1000 rzr. I can buy tons of dirt bike stuff for what they cost.

The US economy is great. In Colorado if you are not making money then you are either stupid or lazy and there is so much work that you can pick and choose. Now if you work the counter at Burger king or Taco bell you might not be making money but those are after school and house wife jobs anyway unless you go into management or ownership but over all the economy is great. Cool Now I doubt that it will have any effect on MX coming back because I think MX has priced itself out of the market. I could get new bikes every year and go race every weekend, but what fun is 6 guys in your class.

No we are not in dept up to our eyeballs, maybe that's what you like to think but maybe you need to change your job/career and go where the money is so you can prosper too.

All I know is everyone I know that got a side by side. Got a loan to go with it. Not many people have $30,000.00 laying around for a toy.

The club I race with seems to have pretty good numbers but it does seem down a little. Now my racing is very casual vet racer kind of stuff but I'm going to step away a little next year. Big thing is the down time between moto's make for long days combined with the travel. I've seen some guys get broken off pretty bad over the past 2 seasons as well and I'm a little over watching that on what is supposed to be my fun time.

I sold my 450 earlier this year and picked up a YZ125. Still going to moto down at practice days almost every weekend and will probably run 5-6 of hare scrambles. Throw in 2-3 mx's at my fav tracks and that's a wrap. No more full seasons for me.

Everyone seems to know that local MX races having 20 classes is not doing anyone any favors, so why aren't any promoters cutting back the classes and offering more racing with less waiting?

Money, is the only reason I see. When I first started I remember them only have like one mini class, one vet class and then bike size classes. That was it. but you would get 2 long practices and 2 long motos per class. Hell most of the tracks I been to in the last 10 years don't even give you 2 moto's

Nothing wrong with getting a loan, but just because you finance something does not mean you are up to your eyeballs in debt. Sometimes its better to use the banks money when they have special rates form excellent credit and pay off in the allotted time but even then times are good and toys are affordable to lots of people. Nice thing about getting older is learning how to make money to be comfortable and be able to buy the fun stuff in life, My dad told me when I was about 21 that its would be easier for him to make 70k than it would be for me to make 7k and I didnt understand why until I got older.

Glad I grew up racing in the 70s and 80s when it was easy to afford and most could do it but now its not the hip cool thing that's easy and cheap to get involved with, and very few local tracks etc so people are spending their extra income on other fun things like SXS and Cars boats etc. MX isn't easy to do anymore unfortunately.

My gripe wasn't with you as much as with vtec who makes it sound like people cant afford what they are buying and how bad things are where he is at and then he is over in the day trader thread telling everyone why day trading is bad and how to do it or its dead etc and learning to code is the way to go, I bet he isn't even 21 years old but thinks he knows how everything works.
