P.S The bike feels like I'm dragging an anchor about and the scaling on the jumps is poor. How can some of you be pumped on this?
Have you upgraded your bike yet? Makes a big difference.

is there any noticeable difference between a bought 450 that’s modded and a factory team 450?

I think it's easily the best yet but will concede the the scaling of things seems a step backwards. Played Pietamautura last nite and it was noticeable.

I gotta say I'm enjoying it way more than MXGP Pro. I feel like this one you really have to mess with bike setup and fine tune things which is what i've been messing with, but I like the way the bikes handle and the riding characteristics, the cornering feels better and your not crashing out every 2 minutes. The tracks look awesome and the super rutty tracks do play a factor, especially when it's raining and the bikes struggling through them. It's not perfect but I'm enjoying it.

Preach it, Resolute. You can see how cool this could be if Milestone would expand upon it.

https://youtu.be/96CYNB6SCvU

Awesome. Yeah, I knew when I saw the little red arrows (which look like the ones they use at The Iron Giant (Erzberg) that this would be my favorite section of the game. 100% agree that we need more Waypoint markers to slow it down plus creeks, rock beds, uphill streams and bigger and seriously steep ascents and descents. There should be uphills you struggle to make or have to zigzag up as well as descents that you must ride the back brake. Also some denser forest sections for areas like Die Grune Holle (The Green Hell) in Erzberg. Like seriously, this is the reason I am keeping this game Milestone. The rest is good but it's still kinda the same so let's open it up a bit or better yet look at Enduro or better yet Hard Enduro as a new IP. WESS is growing. But for now, please expand upon what you can do here in the playground in the enduro type section. Thanks, Resolute.

Resolute, if we could get Milestone to open this area up to have unlimited waypoint markers or at least triple the amount you could also take the track into the forests and zigzag between trees and really slow the game down a lot plus incorporate some of those real tricky rock piles to navigate. The key to this being great though is to get them to give us more waypoints. Unlimited, preferaily.

I also just ran the enduro course at night in the rain and it gave it a Hell's Gate, or The Tough One kinda vibe. Really hard to do the zigzag part in wet terrain. But the harder the sections the better for this aspect of it. It opens up a whole new game basically but it needs more checkpoints and some harder sections. Still real cool, though.

Game is awesome once you upgrade your bike. However I gave up (too early) on advanced physics. I'm content with standard physics, manual rider, and both brakes. What's the consensus on suspension setups? I remember one of the top guys saying on mxgp pro that he used the stock settings. Any tips?

Also, I was hoping for MXoN for Redbud! Is it possibly going to be DLC?

I go with standard physics too. "Advanced" physics are trash. The game is made unrealistic to make it harder and it basically just takes away traction to the rear tire. Standard physics open the game up and make it usable and fun. I haven't messed with any setup settings yet. Just keeping them at stock for now.

Anyone else LUCKY to get anything else other than 22nd in qualifying but then go out and go 1-1 in the motos? I play on realistic with advanced settings (except semi auto transmission... I hate shifting down haha) and it seems like the AI sets these whack lap times in qualifying but then I smoke them in the races. I just don't get it.

Except Matterly... F that track.

So far I've only played about an hour or so but i like it. The ruts do seem to grab better than previous Milestone games. When I try and hit a rut though I usually ride over multiple ruts before actually turning. I may have to try the standard physics at least for now until I get better. I don't know if I need a better bike setup or what but I tend to loose the rear end and spin out fairly often also. I'm sure I just need some more time but if anyone has any tips, I'd appreciate it. I've been playing All Out and I'm a little rusty with the Milestone games.

Enjoying this, haven't played video games in years, but this has me hooked for now.

Quick question, on a PS3 controller, is anyone actually talented enough to ride using separate brakes, manual shifting, while also being able to steer and shift the rider weight? I'm having to be a hack and run joint brakes and auto shifting. Any tips on button setup?

Ps3 (or ps4 in my case) I have front brake :L1 and rear brake L2, clutch R1, shift is Square and Triangle but I use the semi auto transmission because manual would drive me nuts

My Shifting is set up by clicking the analog sticks in, done it with every milestone game and it works for me.

Kind of tired of the Bike + Rider on a turntable style of MX games these days. Theres like no connection between the tires and the ground. You're just floating along on a turntable, sliding around corners etc. There's very little skill required to simply get around the track, most of my scrub attempts result in the rider ejecting, etc.

How can some of you guys call this the best mx game ever? What are you smoking?

I use L2 rear brake, L1 clutch, R1 front brake, R2 gas and shift down with left analog stick and up with right stick.

I feel like there is a good connection feel with the ground. I agree about the back tire sliding. It's so easy to powerslide every corner. But you don't have to. More front brake less rear brake and slow down more and you can track the corner and ruts better. Also when in first person you don't really realize the back end is sliding around.

If you YouTube mxgp2019 first look game play the guy is riding a couple tracks and rarely sliding around corners. Windham151 is the channel or whatever you call it

When your in front of the AI and block their line they slow right down . Because bikes are more spread out in qualifying it doesn’t have an as bad affect

Am I the only one that's bummed about how little all the jumps are? It seems to be recurring with every MXGP game so far. Big jumps in real life (like the step down in Valkenswaard or the uphill triple and that quad in Matterly) are so tiny in the games. Maybe I'm nitpicking but that alone makes me never appreciate the MXGP games fully.
I think if you put it into goggle view the jumps look a bit more to scale. If you had a drone follow you around in a similar position to the 3rd person view the jumps would look smaller in real life too

Not it at all. Every single MXGP game has had difficult qualifying and easy races. The qualifying times are completely faked, so the AI has really good times

i think bike tuning is crucial in this particular game. i get the bike feeling ok on one track and then it feels completely different on the next. which is love hate for me. overall, idk....it just doesn’t feel right. the game doesn’t have the fun factor. the cornering is bad, it’s just bad. entering a corner is the worst part of the game. the rear end sliding out when exiting (not in the apex of the corner) and the rider animation is good, i like that...but the sliding in the apex of the corner and the corner entry just doesn’t work. the rear end slide exiting some corners i can see, but it’s too much. my problem isn’t crashing and sliding out, it’s just simply making a corner look and feel proper. you can surely play the game without the rear end sliding out, but you’re not on the gas like you should/could be. if they want to keep the touchy rear end sliding, they have to re do the acceleration trigger input and transmission/power delivery.

they completely fucked up the FPV. whipping in FPV is an improvement but everywhere else is off. i see what they are going for, as previous FPV cam was too high, but now it may be too low and it just doesn’t work. i can appreciate the effort but it’s wrong. you also can’t start in any gear but first (to my knowledge) we need to be able to do second gear starts.

they still have the same horrendous jersey lettering and numbers and shitty sizing too. there’s so much that was bad about previous titles that they just rolled over into this one. the track editor is really really bad. i was ok with no elevation but the rollers are bad, the rhythm sections are bad....it was all just created and put in the game with zero testing. the orange contrast to each track piece doesn’t show appropriate size of the obsticle which shows they spent zero time on the specifics that allow the user to know what they’re building. you can’t even reverse some of the obstacles. the turns you get to use are absolute shit and offer zero originality. bottom line is, and you can tell by the completely white background to the menu screens, this game was thrown together after they focused on their “2019 season” and the after messing with the physics some. since when was jorge prado’s name “jorge prado garcia”?

there is some good to the game tho. i like the feeling the bike has connected to the ground. many think it feels like theirs a magnet holding you down, but in my opinion, motocross games have been too floaty over the years and we’ve gotten used to a false sense of gravity. i truly believe the gravity in this game is more towards real then not. specifically, going up a hill and hitting an inside line with a roller in it, the way the bike rolls up and over the mound feels real, where in other moto games you might catch some airtime on that inside hump instead of staying glued to the ground, going up and over and then accelerating through the turn. the ability to check up in turns and pivot is a pro to the game. the rider animation when you do so is well done IMO, it feels right, but normal cornering like i said, is way off. also, the downsizing of the jumps imo really make the gravity seem more than it is, if you find a large jump, i think the “airtime” and gravity is correct. the problem is a lot of the jump faces are just too small. with that being said, i would be careful complaining about the gravity of the game because they could make the bike more floaty and imo that’s not the problem. so be careful what you ask for.

and you’re telling me that they haven’t learned the importance of being able to load your saved bike settings when playing online? you give me a few seconds to set my bike up and expect that to be enough time? imo this complete fail and miss for online players is one of the single biggest indicators that Milestone has their head in there ass. it is absolutely essential that online players can load saved bike settings while playing online. to some extent it ruins online racing completely. once you get specific bike settings and you get used to how the bike feels on specific tracks, and then you can’t race online with those settings...it ruins the experience. people take online racing pretty serious. this fail is baffling to me.

i want to like this game and im not even mad about the money. i’m fine with funding them, but they better start putting out some updates and the next game better start feeling like motogp19, cause that game is killer

their are some sick graphics for the honda 450 tho...

Good review. They just can’t seem to get these games right. They take too long to get the hang of and get decent at. It’s too technical with the bike settings as well.
Make it fun !
