I hope it’s not true as well! I thought there has been a decent turn out each year. Why kick Minneapolis and keep Detroit, which is always a ghost town?

Probably has to do with how cheap they can rent the stadiums for. I bet Nashville was expensive

All for Salt Lake being back on the schedule but if Vegas isn't the final round its gonna feel weird. I used to do Salt Lake and then Vegas rounds back to back and (obviously) it's a whole different experience. I like the end feeling like a party and also not having to wear a coat.

With the amount of consternation of losing a few venues how are people going to feel when the less attended venues are removed altogether to make for true international rounds? A Euro swing in 2022 of 3 races or so will definitely put a few out to pasture.

I was at Detroit this year and it was a good turnout, even the upper deck was better than it had been in the years before it went away while the Lions renovated the seating and suites.

I don't know who told you that Houston was the first Super cross, But they are wrong!

"The event that paved the way for constructed, stadium-based motocross events was a 1972 race held in the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, promoted by Mike Goodwin and Terry Tiernan, then-president of the AMA, and won by 16-year-old Marty Tripes. It was billed as the "Super Bowl of Motocross" which led to the coining of the term "Supercross." The Super Bowl of Motocross II held the following year was an even greater success and, eventually evolved into the AMA Supercross championship held in stadiums across the United States and Canada."

Trust me on this one! I was there, working in the pits.
Pretty sure the history is this. The Superbowl of Motocross was in LA
The first officially titled "Supercross" was in Houston

I also think Daytona held races before LA and Houston

I believe the indoor super bowls of motocross in 72 and 73 were part of the inter-am or Trans-AMA series, not what we refer to today as the ‘Supercross’ series.

“The AMA started its first AMA Supercross tour in 1974, though at the time it was called the Yamaha Super Series, as the term supercross had yet to be coined. “ (The Vault, 1974)

While, yes they were the first indoor stadium races that we call Supercross today, the Houston Astrodome actually hosted the first ‘official’ indoor Supercross race. I think it was the second round of the inaugural Supercross series and Daytona was the first. I think Daytona was on the Motocross schedule until 1974, but they started racing there in 71.

So if we both drill down and get really exact, we’re both right and and both wrong at the same time Woohoo

But, the Super Bowl of Motocross did turn into Supercross as we know it today. I think that it is too cool that you worked the first one.

This. I believe there may have been more fans at Detroit than East Rutherford NJ, just eyeballing the 2 SX races I went to this year.

Amen...Vegas may be a decent venue, but the blue groove hardpack rarely leads to great racing (holeshot usually wins it seems like). U of U Stadium is spectacular....

Empty grandstands and unknown riders who are 15 seconds slower than the top riders, just like the MXGP of Indonesia.

I don’t think so. I would expect it would global races to use a Triple Crown format and top riders contracted to do them.

Anyone remember when they would hold double features in supercross at certain venues? Two nights of racing, one on Saturday and one on Sunday. That would lie be cool to bring back.

Not a fan at all of Vega$ not being the final round. As far as Nashville goes they must be rotating Nashville and St. Louis. Nashville seemed to be quite the hit and I was thinking about taking a road trip this year.
The area seems cool , but the Dirt needed Help , is this not something that they put any thought into , I'm sure better dirt is available somewhere in the immediate area ,
That dirt was Like cement.

Nashville is most likely the SX I would be interested in attending. The older I get (w/young kids) the more I prefer a good watch party at my house. You can even get some monster girls ordered off backpages if that's your thing.

They used to run a doubleheader at the Pontiac Silverdome. They used to run the amateur program before Saturdays pro races and after Sundays pro races. My first amateur race at the dome was Saturday morning before the pros even touched the track, it was probably 7:00 in the morning I raced. To say that I was not prepared for fresh stadium whoops is an understatement. Crashed every lap.

Will Sam Boyd stadium be torn down by May 2020? Probably the reason for not holding it there.
