It's really simple. Sure moto is a little white trash hillbilly, now do you want that to increase or decrease? Because your comments create more of it and the comments in this thread you're arguing against are a self-policing method that is necessary to reduce it. So what is your desired result?

You're right, we should all sit in the stands quietly with our warm tea and give equal cheer to each rider because they're all trying super hard out there... It's the way ALL sports fans are. Some good - some bad.

My point was people actually stating that they are embarrassed to be moto fans because of taunting fans need to understand what sport they are talking about. To be clear, I think those white trash hillbillies are just as big of douchebags as you do but, it's ridiculous to think motocross is a "high class" sport and above fans dishing out the bird.

Sorry my vital name is from 2011(ish) But glad you knew I owned a media company. It's not my profile name by the way...
Yes, some people suck. Some people are racists, some are bigots, some people just want to be jerks in hopes to fluster someone. No one is debating that.

I see it more as, this dude is painting a false picture of what I would assume your average American to be. So yes, it does make me feel a little embarrassed that some of the foreign riders that come over here to find success and put on a show for us are disrespected by a guy that salutes the same flag as me. Don’t let one bad apple spoil the bunch, I get it, but it still is embarrassing to be associated with them.

I was in staging with my rider when I saw Roczen getting heckled. He didn’t flinch but I’m positive he heard it. It’s honestly pretty disgusting.

My opinion on it is this; when I grew up in the late seventies early eighties we still had lots of fist fights. If you were a douche, you generally got beat up and after a few beatings you learned to keep your mouth shut or think before you spoke at least. Now, not only is fighting pretty much gone, but kids also are allowed to say whatever the hell they want on social media with zero consequence. And that bleeds over into real life eventually. It’s nothing a quick knuckle sandwich wouldn’t fix. Sadly those days are long gone.

To stay exactly the way it is. I've been to every round multiple times over the last 10 years and one thing is consistent. The hillbillies are the loudest, drunkest, and most entertaining. Like I said, I don't care for them personally but those drunk sister kissers have been a staple in motocross fan history and should keep doing their thing. Even as a photographer/filmer walking the sides of the track we get heckled from the same type of people...it's just part of it and lends to the excitement of it all.

My point is that the sport isn't going to change and it's silly to think motocross will set the standard for spectator etiquette.

Bit of a catch 22, because it's pretty ape-ish to punch someone over words. I DONT LIKE DAT SOUND, MUST PUNCH HOLE FROM WHERE SOUND COMES. I think the better method is for people to not care so much about what some random stranger says..

Unfortunately, I think you're illustrating how dumb we are because everything is apparently boring without conflict.

Has anyone in here ever been to any other sporting event? How about a pro football game? Have you seen/heard what the fans yell at opposing teams? Go sit court-side at a basketball game and listen to what gets said. Or even worse, go to a hockey game and literally sit anywhere...

Get off your high horse about being embarrassed to be a moto fan because a few people flipped off a rider. In case you forgot, motocross is a rough, dirty, slightly red neck sport. Don't get me wrong, I love the shit out of dirt bikes. But, you guys acting like this shouldn't happen in "our" sport need to learn how to have a little fun...

I was standing a bit more to the right just outside the pic.. the whole group was drunk, loud, and irritating, but it was mainly that one guy really going after James Stewart. I gave them dirty looks and wanted to punch the guy in the face but decided it was not wise with 1 of me and my 8 year old son vs. whole bunch of drunk guys. He didn't really respond to Stewart's mom yelling at him. If a physical fight broke out with the mom, I would have joined in, though. Finally a cop arrived to escort him off the premises but it took a long time as that part of the track was not easily accessible. I always wondered how his mother heard about what was going on and found them so quickly in this remote part of the track as I think she came over toward the end or right at the end of the race. I don't remember that girl there doing the same thing.. I was so focused on that big guy hanging on the fence and yelling at the top of his lungs. Ugliness of the human soul in its full grandeur for sure! To direct that much energy and hate towards someone/ some people you have never met and know absolutely nothing about is not only irrational, it shows how much ignorance and lack of intelligence is required to expend that much negative energy to maintain that irrationality.
That was actually during practice.

The so-called "fan", not so awesome. Dylan's response: epic. He's a stud...

I believe you are right that it was practice. It was a long time ago. The guy was not just giving the finger, he was yelling the N word every lap he came by.

Good or bad, I shot the photo. After the practice, I went to the pits and asked James what was going on. He said, "You saw that, huh?"

It was disgusting.

And no, this isn't limited to MX. I went to a NASCAR race a few years ago, and watched the guy in front of me flip off Kyle Busch...every single time he came by. That was a lot of energy wasted.

I’ve always liked Ferrandis, but have some class man. I get it, we all wanna look cool, and give zero F’s, but there’s kids watching the race ya know?

Think about the kids next time. Dry

Almost seems like karma that nobody from MA finished in the top 20 overall.
Its not just about people from MA. There are plenty people at Southwick disguised as Massholes from NJ to Maine.

There are quite a few people at Southwick (and I am sure other races) each year that are not fans and do not know the riders. They know just enough to cheer for Tomac or another popular US rider, and go bullsh*t on any foreign rider. Add alcohol to the mix and you have some complete sh*theads.

I was standing just beyond the finish line at the next curve before the start straight. Three guys were flipping off Marv with 2 laps to go yelling F-U at the top of their lungs. There were kids all around them. One lap to go I leaned over and whistled and shouted for Marv. All three looked at me and one guy said "...HE SUCKS.." I said.. "who are are you for.." The guy said "TOMAC"... I said... that's good. There is a lap to go and he is going backwards."

this has nothing to do with Massachusetts fans for just and obnoxious drunk.. The white redneck fan calling out a white NASCAR driver or a football or basketball fan calling out a particular player they don't like when >50% of the players are non-white, while it is still obnoxious and we don't like it, is not the same thing here and I feel requires a stronger reaction than looking the other way. With the Stewart situation, I think he was the only black rider in a field of white pro riders, with a white fan yelling the "N" word every lap that Stewart passed through that corner. I don't recall him calling out any other rider. Saying nothing and allowing no consequences only encourages their boldness as we have seen these past few years.

The Ferrandis support on here is awesome. I’ve seen him at pala, Perris and Cahuilla. He bumped me in a corner at Perris on accident in practice, i wasn’t even mad. I hope he’s champ outdoors.

So much white trash in this photo Shocked The troll in the back is wearing pajama pants. Maybe that part of the track is right outside their bedroom?

It's a shame a legendary track has such a shitty bunch of people attending. This video always sticks out in my mind. These pieces of shit were acting like a bunch of drunk morons then Dungey goes out and has the ride of his life. Fuck these guys.
