Those 450 titles are before the major redesign in 2010 when they turned the head around ....the 2006 - 2009 bike was REALLY good. I think they (Yamaha) would've had more success adding efi to that generation model

Not many teams rely on Japanese parts to the extent that they used to. Most race teams can manufacture most all they need right here in the US...of course there sre some things still supplied by Japan (or Austria in the case of KTM). The mass of the motor on the 2020 YZ450F is right between your legs. Right at the center point of the bike. It's a weird feeling but once you get used to it the bike feels extremely agile. It's definitely a weird feeling but you grow to like it pretty quickly. I think it's a great design but feels very different than all the other brands.
