I'm not sure what more details you want, I highly doubt KTM would let anyone know the details of what they've actually done to the frames Herlings and Cairoli run.
Pretty much what I said Jorge, never said they did it for sure..I have no proof. But I wouldn't be surprised at all because the bikes are so different and for the limited time JH would have on an USA bike it might hurt his performance.

Oh and how would I know enough to throw something like this out there? Because I worked at KTM and we cheated back then. And we cheated with other teams I was on as well. Nothing big but small stuff that would never be caught.

So maybe I was on the only three teams in the history of the sport that skirted the rules or maybe, just maybe, other teams do it so I could throw out an idea or theory or a question out there and actually know what I'm talking about.

Or maybe, just maybe I've been overseas a lot and talked to some mechanics/ex-mechanics for KTM factory teams in my time and asked them about the differences in production/race frames?

But feel free to just run with whatever you think I said I guess.

Think Ping mentioned that Tickle might have (allegedly) done the same thing to him also actually?
The Tickle thing was some dispute between him and paul lindsey.

I don't know for sure but I believe it was an anti-inflammatory that you needed an RX for and he didn't have one.

So all the manufacturers are cheaters? Seriously? Thats sad if it’s true and I’ll never look at this sport the same.

Make sure you never look at Ford, Chevy, Toyota the same either then. NASCAR teams cheat all the time.

I can't remember who said it but it's been said before. Toradol is what was in his locker which is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug. Davi didn't have a prescription for it.

You need to listen to that show. He absolutely said that. That rant is epic.

Only thing I remember Mathes saying was that people have modified frames and removed material/added etc for years.
I'm sure lots of things slip by tech. Lets be honest, do they even know what they are looking at? Probably not.

Teams cheat in all forms of motorsports.

I've been told that Kawasaki doesn't want to/won't go to the MXDN this year regardless of what ET wants. We'll see though, the green claw has a lot of say over there and they title the MXDN. It could change.

Everybodies looking for an edge. Anyone who is surprised when an athlete pops or Nascar or F1 teams get caught is just naive.

I'm still shocked they don't weight test bikes AFTER the race and give them a variance for dirt buildup.

You can strip 50 lbs off a bike after tech. It's been done in road racing for years, until the tech people got smart.

Teams in other forms of motorsport worldwide may skirt close to the edge of what is allowed a' la Ducati in MotoGP with their swingarm aero, or Honda and the Moto3 rev limit saga (KTM accusing Honda of exceeding rev limits), but out and out cheating is met with firm penalties in whatever form they take, and the governing bodies usually clear up the regulations to (try to) ensure it doesn't happen again.

I am staggered that cheating is allowed to go unchecked in the world of professional motocross, it is a shame really.

Thanks for clarifying Steve.

You throw your engine in the garbage and replace it with a cardboard mockup painted silver. Big advantage on all the downhill sections.

I don't think Ping ranted just the once about it, pretty sure it was Seji.

At first I thought that as well, but when you think about all the AMA riders have going against them including the cost of getting over there it makes sense. It sucks for us fans though.

If you aren’t cheating you aren’t racing

It’s getting caught that defines cheater from winner.

So Mathes says Herlings was using stiffer frame than stock bike. Im pretty sure they did have run same geometry because that can be measured on tech but if they wanted stiffer frame they are allowed to add material to frame by rules. How much material is different from frame to frame when they make frames or was there really need to use thicker tubing for Herlings i doubt it. Sure his pegs are mounted different position but again that you can modify by rules as longer riders run pegs more rearward position. What was the illegal part would be nice to hear and how much that would have helped Herlings that could smoke most of the field with stock bike from shop floor. Im sure back in the day in 80' people did modify stuff but KTM has been making bikes better for rider likings year after year and they can get what they want following rules now.
