Exactly what I was thinking. Broc got shafted and has served his time. Let him race.

The absolute definition of bush league. Who in the moto media has the reach, and the balls, to bum rush Giuseppe, TMZ style with cameras running, demanding answers on how such a delayed reaction to such critical issue is considered acceptable??

No, he crashed in practice I believe.

This entire FIM process needs to be trashed! With that said, I was very suspicious when I saw his HR at 215 during the triple crown at Anaheim last year... Just saying. I don't care if he used everything available in the BALCO labs, it's stupid to test riders who are paid so little prize money.

WADA and USADA operate under the same code. The big problem in all these cases (James, Clason, Tickle and now Craig) is the FIM. They are not doing their job to communicate the positive test in an expedient fashion. 10 months to get notification is a total joke. Contrast to cycling where the UCI and the rider's national federation communicate much much more quickly. The FIM is just an old-boys aristocratic society where they sit around and smoke cigars, drink cognac, and talk about Joel Robert. They do nothing for modern motorcycle sport IMO, except screw it up.

Time for Feld to completely dump the FIM and run its anti-doping like MX Sports, via USADA and the AMA. F*** the FIM, those stodgy old farts need Supercross more than SX needs them. Well maybe not, but f*** them anyway.

No sort of doping is going to help a racer win a sx or Mx race imo. There’s so much more to it then that.

HRM straps are subject to noise. I'm way past my moto days but I've worn every brand out there in cycling and at some point all of them have given me erroneous HR data, and the Garmin ones always seem to go to HR between 212 and 232 when they are acting up (and Garmin was a sponsor of Geico).

Oh my, I read right over this the first time. This happened in 2018??!! This is crazy, the OEMs have to stand up for the riders, no more racing until this is fixed.

Exactly. Aldon said it best with his podcast with Matthes. They’re only doing 2 x 30 minute motos. There is absolutely no need for supplements compared to athletes that are doing 4-6 hours of high intensity activity who require nutrient replenishment. Baker said everything should be available purely from their diet

I remember seeing the adverse result, I was told by someone in a very high place his AAF "Adverse Analytical Finding" was caused by a substance the rider had a TUE excemption to use. Apparently that wasn't accurate....

FIM's thinking:

Protein supplements contain whey, whey comes from cows, happy cows come from California, California grows pot.... he did drugs.

the problem (well, one of them) is when he is slid to the side, like tickle/stewart/etc, there is a nearly infinite list of riders to fill the spot, backed up all the way to amateur hopefuls. how does it hurt feld? if the top guy gets popped and a smaller percent show up for a sx, maybe. other than that, they have the motivation of calling it 'world sx', with the negative of these instances. the motivation (as shown by response/change the past few years) isn't very high.

He told me it was normal and while he regularly gets his HR that high. I think it was Sexton who called him a hummingbird.

If a suspension comes down on this, they likely will not penalize him for the 17 months he’s been riding. I.E. a 24 month penalty will begin in March of 2018 and end in March of 2020, he won’t be able to compete from the date the penalty was given, in this case sometime in 2019.

If they had a test at San Diego and notified Tickle 3 months layer and then Craig at the next test in March and was notified in January, can we assume another rider will probably get popped for 1 picogram of nasal spray sometime next year when the results from this year's testing?
System is completely ineffective in doing its job.

This is not a thing Giuseppe is in control of, he is only a promoter.

The person that is over the Motocross division of the FIM is Antonio Alia Portela, he is the director. At the time of Christian’s test, Tony Skillington was in charge. Skillington was promoted within the FIM this year to CEO.

Also, it’s totally possible Christian’s heart rate is in 200-220 range when racing.

I just realized something; why was the FIM involved with Daytona? It's not a Feld event.

It's still an F.I.M. sanctioned event.

He did not receive the letter till like 8-9 months after the test. What an absolute shit show. I cant believe the AMA, FELD, DC or any other of these people tolerate this.

Why can't they just tell WADA and FIM "Fuck off, we will handle our own testing and punishment"???

Feld only loses by ditching the FIM. By doing so they lose the "World Championship" title and official international status & recognition of their series.

In Feld's (the promoter, the money maker) eyes, what do they themselves gain by ditching the FIM? Fan satisfaction? Not losing a couple of riders (that, as mentioned above, are unfortunately easily replaced)?

The riders don't have a union, and need to ride to get paid. They're not going to boycott. The teams won't boycott, they have sponsor obligations to fill. The AMA won't ditch Feld - the series is a screaming success. No one with any power is going to boycott, so what entity has any kind of influence that will make things change?

None.

I noticed he used to be a Ryno Power athlete and now he’s switched to Arma. Could it be that the supplement from Ryno Power was contaminated?
Highly unlikely - nearly every guy on the gate uses Ryno Power and although they cannot know for sure that cross-contamination happens higher up the food chain, you would see guys getting popped left and right. RP is actually WADA safe and keeps an extremely close eye on anything that shows up on their list (no matter the tier). Craig started using stuff from Ben Bostrom a while back and so was Tickle when he got popped which would make more sense considering that guy has bragged about using stuff that WADA hasn't caught up to yet.

So if they did ditch the FIM who’s gonna stop them from call it the “World Championship”?

They own the Supercross series and it’s a professional race series, I’m pretty sure they can call it what ever they want.

That’s not how it works. Every single race series in the world can’t start calling themselves world or european or asian or national or whatever championship just because they feel like it.

I am surprised that anyone is even game enough to take any supplements at all these days.
We have all seen it could happen to anyone...

Not that anyone cares, I think it's entirely possible for a rider to have no clue or even bother to do due diligence, ensuring there is no banned ingredients or contamination in everything

These are kids/young adults who can hardly manage their own money and lives and who depend on others to "train" them and handle their lives away from the track (not pointing out Craig, just in general)

As for contamination, it stands to reason that an elite athlete should not take or trust any over the counter "GNC" type of protein or supplement drink/bar/food/mix, and if contaminated, other athletes using the same stuff would also be getting popped. They're not making one jar a batch. Also, if you are, you should be saving every bottle/can/tub of every product because it has a batch code, so the athlete can go back to the manufacturer and ask a sample be tested.

I do agree with GuyB though, the FIM needs to get a better handle on the testing and be more timely on notifications

Some medal winning Olympic athletes know enough to do this and don’t need supplements, neither do these guys although I’m sure it makes life a little easier.
