Do you even see how flawed your logic is?

In many of those sports people are referring to, people are representing their national team, which itself invokes a certain degree of nationalism. Dylan wasn't representing France on the weekend, he was representing himself. It wasn't a France v US thing

Dylan got booed because AC crashed. In what world is that a logical thing to do. Dylan didnt marvin or osborne him, his team mate didnt take him out, he didnt flip him off or even rub it in AC's face. He just roder quietly rode into the sunset then got booed for it.

If that was Colt Nicols that won instead of Dylan do you think he gets booed? If the answer is no then its a nationality thing in my opinion, which is pretty uncool given the type of event it was
Why does Lebron get bood? Why did Kolbe? Why does everyone boo the Patriots? Why did everyone outside of San Francisco boo Barry Bonds when he was approaching the home run record?

Why? Because they are fans of their team, America is their team so they boo when a foreigner wins their title. It’s not the first, won’t be the last.

No, Colt wouldn’t have been bood because he is on their team.

Damn, it’s like a bunch of pussies took over.

If Kobe or Lebron or Barry Bonds got booed by white people because they were black is that ok because they're not on the same team? Extreme example but not that far from the same situation. If its not racism it's in the same ball park.

Boo Marvin, or Anderson or even Osborne all you like for their riding. Don't boo them for something out of their control like the country they were born in or the accent they have.

But maybe i'm just a pussy who doesn't understand what people get out of booing athletes in the first place.

Booing has been around forever and its just a modern snowflake thing that people "feel uncomfortable" or 'offended" by. These guys get paid big bucks by their teams to represent their brands to the FANS who boo and cheer.

Man up and move on. Dylan has to put on his big boy pants and realize he only needs to worry about his inner circle, his riding, and his team, the people that pay him. He rode well and was on the right side of luck this year. Good for him.

If a few boobirds can ruin his moment then he can take his Frenchy souffle self back to his safe place, but I dont really think he is worried about it, mostly the uber-liberal Vitards on here worried about it.

I remember Jay Cutler getting booed by the Bears fans and he just gave them the bird. That guy has made millions since then, wrecked the Dolphins and has a hot wife and a reality show. Poor guy.....

This has always bugged me a bit. He writes for RacerX where he interviews Monster athletes. It is published as journalism but really it is just PR for Monster and I wish DC would just leave this stuff out, but I'm guessing if EJ doesn't do the interview then Monster will tell its athletes not to do RacerX. One particular interview a couple of years ago (with Barcia maybe), I called him out in the comments on RacerX because his questions were total softball, and of course he came back at me just bragging about how long he'd been a journalist.
Eric is by far one of the better writers that Racer X publishes. In his history there he has written many stories and not all about Monster athletes, many some of the best that have ever been in the magazine.

Yes, you are correct...

Basically it went down like this, the cliff notes version....Dylan posted an approx 45 second Instagram video on 4/15/19 that Bell Helmets put together for him. A few weeks later, and a couple days before the Vegas SX, EJ commented on that video and it said, Go AC or maybe it was Go Adam. Dylan went out, won Vegas and the championship, while AC crashed, got back on his bike, persevered and fought thru to a 20th place finish with a bent up bike, ultimately ending 2nd in the championship. At the media center after the race a French reporter asked Ferrandis if he enjoyed beating Americans on their soil. Dylan gave a great answer, at the same time he brought up the fact he thought it was strange a big named guy within the industry went on his Instagram a few days before the Vegas SX and wrote “Go AC.”. Since then, that IG video is still up on Ferrandis account, but the EJ comment Go AC has disappeared. And now we have this thread and another one that have touched upon racism, nationalism, patriotism, and every other -ism you can think of ad nauseam.

Not sure, that’s the missing piece, and a question for someone with insider information and direct knowledge about the situation. As per usual, this will never get answered...

Another example of why Monster is second rate compared to Red Bull. Monster Army....when you can't beat em, just go and try to buy market share.

Dylan posted a video that FMF put together and Eric commented on it saying "Go AC!" and I think it was right around Seattle.

I agree, I know what it takes to get there so I have to much respect to boo, but I know guys who did. They didn’t boo because they hated Bayle, it was because they love America and wanted an American to win.

Watch a World Cup game, holy crap do they take their nationalism serious, they boo like mad, to me it’s no big deal and it’s pride, not ignorance or fear.

I think you probably know me enough to know I have nothing but respect for all the riders, but I get why some boo. Just my 2 cents.

Never understand the whole booing mentality personally. I'll cheer the people I want to cheer for and hand out a restrained clap for those that I don't.
The fact I'm standing watching and not out there with them in the race means they are doing something that I cant (despite a lot of attempts haha) so they all get the respect.

The thing is that Nationalism is pride about ones country, wheras racism is hatred of another race.

Their needs to be a word that describes 'Hatred of anyone from another country, culture or religion than what I consider American'

What is that word? Because thats what he felt and meant, nationalism has a kind of psuedo positive context as 'love for america' and he did not feel 'love for america' he felt 'hate for not being american'. Nationalism or Racism does not describe. I do think the actions and feeling of racism does more closely resemble it 'Hatred of anything that is not my tribe'.

He didnt feel nationalism, what did he feel?
As a us navy guy in in Toulan France I can relate to how he felt, as I never felt more unwelcome in more then 20 foreign countries i have had the privlidge to vist then i did in france, ironcially my heritage is french. I would not call it racism, or nationalism, just pricks being pricks. But, all the eldery were very friendly and spoke their best English when approached, something about wwII i think.

There's no excuse for booing someone who won something 100 percent fair and square. Maybe they were AC fans who were booing simply because AC didn't win, or maybe they were just Americans booing because an American didn't win. Either way, its just a way of throwing a tantrum and crying because you didn't get what you want. Fit throwing and crying because your guy lost and therefor you lost. It's a clear display of a lack of immaturity and class. I want to see the best man win, and in this case the nationality of the guy made me no difference since they're both good, classy guys. There have been times Ive wanted an American to win over a foreigner for whatever reason, but I still wanted the best to win. I just hoped that it was the American who was the best. If not, then so be it. There's no pride or joy I feel if an American wins and I know he wasn't the better rider or whatever. If Ferrandis had trash talked America or won in some unethical way, that would be a little different . He didn't do that.
You know who should've had their ass booed out of the stadium? The French reporter who asked that idiot question. A question that could only stir up a nationality conflict if not answered the right way. Fortunately Ferrandis handled it intelligently and with class.
When I was in high school and playing football in a small town, we had a rival town/team just 30 miles away. Hating them was a tradition and booing them when they played us at home was just something you did because they had been doing it for generations. No doubt it was the same in their town because they booed us every time we played there. That's just a team rivalry that wasn't personal.to any specific player and it added excitement to the games. That's high school team stuff. Not grown, individual, professional stuff. Booing someone only because they won is just a way of making sure they hear your crying tantrum. Anyone who booed Ferrandis is a straight up immature idiot regardless of whether it had to do with Ferrandis being French and beating an American or just him being a guy that beat the guy they were rooting for. Its still crying and throwing a hissy fit. No way around it. They are embarrassments to this country. And yes...other countries have their idiot fit throwers. They need to be condemned by their own countrymen anywhere it happens.

Toulon is a shithole, that's why ;-)))

And didn't "we" already stated there was no booing, just a bunch of DF's friends singing the French national anthem?

I find the french to be either the nicest types of persons (think Musquin) you'll ever meet or to be very douchy and tricky, there's no inbetween. I've had the same typ of experience as you in France. If you don't speak french some will make you their enemy

It is true that Toulon is not the place to be at night, it is pretty dangerous a bit like Marseille ..., but it is quite good during the day and not that many people are pricks I think. Outside of Toulon is 10x better though, it remains one of the best departments in france, with Le Castellet, Ile de Port Cros, Ile de Porquerolles, Saint Tropez, etc ...
