I didn't see anything cryptic at all. It says he's gone plain as day.

Basically says his one year deal is up and is t signed for another year.

“Time to make that happen” to me seems like JGR has said they probably cant garauntee him what he wants without a title sponsor or something so he’ll be looking for potential sponsors he could bring on board.

His appearance on Thursday's Moto60 show dropped a few hints if one is able to read between the lines. To me it was interesting when he said that JGR's NASCAR effort hinders the Moto side, kind of a subtle jab at an employer who gave him a lifeline for 2019. This coupled with JGR only having Martin on a 250 and Hill on a 450 for outdoors makes me think we are seeing the last gasps of JGR as a SX/MX team. Suzuki might be able to take the money it's providing and hook up with another organization (HEP?) or maybe they start their own factory team again?

Ya I have feeling JGR will be calling Chisholm or ARay to fill in for hill by the 4th RD. Mainly due to results (made up injury)

If he doesn't go to JGR where does he go? Did he part any of the other teams in a positive manner? Seems like he isn't afraid to speak his mind after leaving somewhere. Maybe they forget.

Bandwagon-jumpers. Wink
Those aren't real fans.

His ego is too big for the few small teams he hasn't burned.

Yea I have to agree there. He literally shot down the idea of MCR on PulpMX Fly 60 show. As he said it I'm thinking why would you limit yourself. But he knows more than me..he has a few more commas in his bank account than me.

Shouldn’t team rides be for competitive riders? A bargain basement younger rider with room for improvement on a multi year contract would seem a better choice than a outdated novelty rider on the decline and one year contracts

Reed should have retired a few years ago and put his family first, instead of chasing this ego-fed last hurrah.
Has it occurred to you that the guy might just love racing ?? And his family seems to enjoy it just as much. For fucks-sake ,let the guy live his own life and go out on his own terms......I'd say he's earned that right.

Yeah, I really don't get this undying fascination with Reed some people have on this site. He "deserves a factory ride" garbage. No...he does not deserve a factory ride. He's a satellite team rider at best. Many say he's a great fan and sponsor draw. Yet, sponsor draw/money seems to be the exact problem for several years now and even when he ran his own team. He was a great rider at one time, but he's definitely at the end of his run. It's time he hung up the boots and just accepted the fact that other riders deserve a ride more than he does.

Reed has stated so many times in the past that he won't go racing unless it's on factory equipment and there's really no chance that any of the other 5 manufacturers factory teams will hire him for one reason or another so it's either JGR or not at all.

For me it sounds like JGR is scaling or shutting down after the season unless they get some big sponsors. Now, I do believe that JGR would want Chad on the team if they are racing and it sounds like Chad is doing what he can to find personal sponsors to bring in to help with that.

Can you name another 37 year old that has had a podium at the highest level of Supercross? Nope, because there isn’t anyone that has ever done that. With how it works these days most even don’t race anymore in their 30’s, let alone podium. He’s a fucking badass for it.

Oh, so as long as a guy gets LUCKY and hit's the podium a couple time s a year, that the standard for a factory ride? Now, add that he's the only 37 y/o to ever do that and it's supposed to impress people? If he was as good as he thinks or some of you think, he'd have a ride now wouldn't he?

There are a WHOLE bunch of riders that were on good rides this season who would have loved to have gotten "LUCKY" and landed on the podium this year. Top 10 in this field is pretty impressive, and I bet he didn't get paid making top 10 money.

How many factory riders podium-ed this year?

How do you get lucky landing on the podium of a 450 main, if you only need luck maybe ill skip buying a lotto ticket for 8 months, save up all my luck and race A1

If a team is willing to pay for his services, he belongs out there, if he qualifies for a night show he belongs out there, if he makes a main, he belongs out there, no matter what his age or where you think he is in his career right now.

There is what, 14 factory rides , two from each manufacture plus the Rocky Mountain KTM team,

He was running inside the top ten in the championship and half a chance at a top five before his injury, but does not deserve one of the 14 top rides? please explain.

You mean instead of earning a living competing in the (arguably) most prestigious series in the sport where he's known as an absolute legend? What do you suggest he does? Become a sales Rep? Mechanic? Customer service at chipotle? What Seriously..... Maybe he has the full support of his family? Perhaps the encourage him to live out his dreams for as long as possible while earning an income that affords them a very comfortable lifestyle.

What young rookie out there has 900k+ IG followers? Just curious, because I would think that alone is a huge contributor to JGR's ROI with respect to Reedy.

Then again - if vet riders are the ones keeping the Good Ship Lollipop afloat (being the single biggest consumer in the moto world), maybe that assumption is way off, given our general distaste for social media.

I think I just outed myself as an old guy....now get the eff off my lawn!

Honda has not won a 450 title in 15+ years and is fine with not doing so. I used to think like you but starting to think the riders are more about PR insta/fb/twit/etc advertising to the teams.

Looks to me like Reed is stating his contract at JGR is now up and is looking for a ride. Pretty clear to me that he’s just saying that it’s time to start negotiating for a ride, or helping get JGR a title sponsor to stay on board.

An overall podium with a format that is best out of 3 races is just lucky.and then to be getting top 5's.. I mean. Its gotta be luck, right?
For any rider who finished behind him at any of the races should retire and doesn't deserve there factory ride. Especially if there getting beat by a 37yr old who is an outdated novelty rider on the decline and one year contracts...

How many riders are capable of winning a title in the 450 class? 3? 4? Fighting to get one of those guys and paying the insane salaries they demand just isn't realistic for the majority of teams. They had stew.... RCH had roczen on a suzuki and he won an outdoor title for them... Then they folded... A championship isn't necessarily the magic dust that keeps a team going. Sponsorship is. While a championship could certainly help, it isn't the only factor in a race team surviving.

They admitted there goal was to perform to the best of their ability with what they have for as long as they can. They blew a lot of money on Stewart and Barcia with no championship. They went and spent probably half as much money on the Braytons and the Peicks of the world, Sponsorship and support dollars barely changed.

I'd take the JGR model over the RCH model anyday, its been much more sustainable so far. They're keeping plenty of people in work within the sport and supporting plenty of family's in the process. Only 1 team can win each year, somebody has to come 7th.

I see that JGR just picked up Pirelli as a sponsor for motocross this year. Obviously they're not dead yet...
