Some of this might have to do with the full development of the frontal lobe of the brain. It hapens to males at around roughly 25 years of age. The frontal lobe houses the sense of self preservation and self control. What do you Vital psychiatrists think?
We are psychologists. No member has prescribed drugs yet... apart from the occasional member who feels the need to self prescribe a few beers before posting...

On a serious note I don't think Tomacs issue is that he is not riding fast enough/taking enough risk.

I would give a little leeway on that just because Tomac has won so many SX races. His speed and ability to win races the last three years was at a championship level but the consistency was not there. That could change next year.

He actually was more consistent this year but a handful of races off the podium really hurt. He did not crash out of any race so far in 2019 which is a big improvement for him.

Webb is going to be very hard to beat though in 2020.
You people say the same shit every year. This is Tomac’s year to figure out consistency......and he never does. Guess what a leopard doesn’t change his spots, Tomac will never figure it out.

At the last SX I was at, I for some reason found myself rooting for Tomac.
Never been a huge fan and never will be.

He is awesome to watch though, loved it. Not a surgeon, he’s a sledge hammer.
Worth the price of admission. Outside berms are not safe when he is around.

I always wished that there was about a 5 pt. spread between 1st and 2nd.
To the winner goes the spoils.

It is fun when you just naturally start cheering for someone without knowing why.

Never is a long time, he should have plenty more chances.
But that isn't the trend.. think villo... Then dungey... Once everything is paid off and 7 digits are still n the bank- it is time to retire .... And not just Moto, many sports.... Et3 may sign one more dealio then ride off into the sunset....

Tomac's biggest issue is his homegrown / DIY training and testing program. If I were a team that was signing him to a big deal, I would put a stop to it. I would basically insist that from Oct to May, Tomac is based in SoCal, close to the team shop, test tracks, etc. Getting top performance from rider and bike at this level requires a lot of close cooperative work. Testing, communication, experimentation, development, they all take a hit when the rider is remote. It Factory Kawi had gotten the bike sorted a month earlier, Tomac probably wins the title.
The same program that yielded a maiden 250 national win, a 250SX title, 3 national titles and more SX wins than anyone else the last 3–4 years?

Agree about the bike issues... and if Kawi's record was as unblemished as when RV rode for them he'd likely have a couple SX titles to boot!

Eli says he sees himself racing three more years but Dungey sounded like that too until he hurt his neck then quit at 27 just like RV2 and RC. Eli will be 27 next season.

ET needs to get it done in the next two years or it is highly unlikely he wins one.

He came in with a bone broken in his back, missed a critical month of training and testing right before the season started, on a brand new bike, and ended up 2nd with half a dozen or so wins...

Big deal, Webb hasn’t done shit in 2 years and comes out and takes over the Championship. Tomac fans always have an excuse. 2017 Tomac couldn’t even beat a rider that didn’t even want to race anymore.

Eli has more wins and championships in professional 450 dirt bike racing than anyone of this era. He is also human and that seems to bug some people. He was up against a lot of adversity at the start of the season and if you take out the 8th where he crashed from 2nd he is still right in the points all things considered. Dude is a beast and NEVER makes excuses, which gets him roasted on here quite often somehow.

Never - I thought it was said he was blaming it on Williamson?

Never heard Eli saying that. He has always said he was having trouble getting comfortable on the bike and it was part him and part the bike.

you guys are trippers. Tomac is one of many who can win the title. He is finishing right were he belongs The reason he hasn't won is the same reason Bagget or Seeley hasn't won. Their not the best guys out there. No shame in that. Tomac is a second place rider, so what. There are plenty of guys in the top five. Tomac is just one of them. No big deal.

Funny how a few months back every one here was bashing supercross and how it was ruining our motox. Now since Tomac hasn't gotten a SX championship everyone wants to bag on him. What does vital want? MX or SX? I also disagree with most on Cooper Web as being the next 450 killer. I think that once they go outdoors, reality is going to set in for him like it did for Anderson last year, Tomac is fast outdoors.

I agree with that, the homegrown DIY training program seems to be a problem. Proof of the pudding is in the eating. I don't mean to sound like I know what I am talking about here, because I'd be the first to say, I don't, and you don't need to flame away at me for being an instant expert, because I would agree with you. But it seems to me, it is obvious there is something major and obvious missing in Tomac's training program. I'm not qualified to say what it is, but it is obvious something is missing. The guy is uber talented and he just keeps making the same mistake over and over, reacting to stressful situations by going quasar fast, and then overriding and falling off way too often. I was looking right at him at Anaheim 1 last year when he was leading and fell off, absolutely no reason for it, all alone and kersplat. Kind of hard to explain, when that keeps happening over and over again. Like, for instance, falling off twice in the main last night, in exactly the same place. Seems to me, his training program is obviously off, and doing it himself hasn't worked to get the last bit of achievement he so richly deserves. Seems to me, it is obvious that he needs a top notch and experienced trainer, one with a new approach, one with a demonstrated track record of success, one who can help him train for the races he needs to be prepared to run. Just as a for instance, it may be too late to teach an old dog new tricks, but wouldn't it be interesting if he, say, got on a KTM and went down to Florida and trained with Aldon Baker? Baker's not the only talented trainer, just one example, but the guy who is beating Tomac, Webb, just spent a winter turning his career around and reaching new highs after working with Baker. Just sayin'. You race the race you practice for, and maybe he is simply not practicing what he needs to, whatever that is.

Not sure if you tuned into MX last year when he became 2 time MX champion. Just because he doesn't win the sx title he needs to drop everything and ride at the baker's camp. Pretty sure outdoors is way more taxing and grueling than sx, and there was many times last year he was a man among boys. Im sure his program and training works for him. Copper admitted he didn't work hard enough at Yamaha to get the results. Im sure you won't get that same response from Eli on training hard.

My post from the what went wrong thread.

Everyone talks like he's about to retire. He's still got at least a few more seasons in him. It's not over till the fat lady sings. If he retires before winning an SX title I think it'll be because he feels fulfilled in his career/is over it. But I don't see that happening while he still has the speed to win an SX title still. I think we will be watching Eli for a while unless injuries start racking up or he starts a family sometime soon. He obviously (like everyone out there) still wants to win.

I'd also like to add that I think eveyrone's biggest threat is about to be Osborne here pretty quick. Who is also older, but still wants to win.

To be fair, I didn't think anyone looked particularly comfortable in the whoops.

Unless you're Rick Johnson, Jeff Ward, or Jeff Emig.
