That over the course in a series he’s not top 5. Which is true at this point. Amazing finish, but don’t caricature the main point. Rick Ryan won Daytona in 87, but it didn’t mean he was a contender for the title. Pointing out facts is not being a hater; if Reed continued to top three I’d be happy for him, but we all know it’s probably not going to happen.

Hes older today than he was in January and he's only getting better. He can race well into his 50s at this rate...

Seriously though. So pumped to see him on the podium. Apparently he wasnt a top 5 threat or a podium threat. Yet here he is busting his ass having fun. 10 years ago he would have been disappointed in the result. But today you can seehow proud he was to be on the podium. If he fave it away he wouldnt have experienced all these highs again. Good go see him going out with a decent season.

Remember when he went over to run in a couple MXGP races in 2016? People here were saying he'd run top 5 at Matterley Basin, maybe podium, as if he were gonna just drop in and mix it up with Gajser, Cairoli and Febvre. (Turns out Febvre was hurt and didn't run, but we didn't know that.) Reed ended up running 14th and 17th and I don't even know if he got any TV screen time.

I’m not moving any goal posts since it’s what I’ve said all along. At the start of the season, I said Reed needs to aim for top five because top three isn’t likely to happen. I also did not think Reed would be top ten overall at the end of the season, which remains to be seen if it will happen. But I’ve always maintained overall results as I’m aware any rider can have a good night. Of course some of you are going to take that as “hate” when it’s not, but that’s not my concern since the results at the end of the season will do the talking just like they have in previous seasons.

I did not think Reed would podium any race and I was wrong about that. He podiumed with, 3-5-7 results. Credit where credit is due, congratulations to Reed.

Part of the problem with this thread is the widely differing definition of "competitive" that folks have. I guess mine is a pretty low bar. Anyone that qualifies and earns points consistently in the premier Supercross series is "competitive". Obviously, others believe that only those vying for the championship are "competitive".
