You do realize there is a customize camera slider, right? I like the closest cam zoomed in but with whatever 3rd person cam you choose you can zoom it on or out a lot to suit your tastes.

I love this feature since I like a real close third person camera.

Give it a shot!

I have been withholding my opinions until I got some solid "seat time". I am 3 days into it, just completed West/East on 250. The first night playing was extremely frustrating, dang I just wasted $85. By last night, I was truly enjoying the experience. The training is key, it does suck you have to play career mode to improve, but it makes a huge difference in the gameplay and handling of the bike. Patience Grasshopper!!!
It is much improved from MES1. The whoops are more realistic, the rhythm sections take practice and offer alternate lines. Makes for some really great racing. FYI- I play with all assists off. Started with realistic AI, but have since backed it down to Medium difficulty until I get faster. Last night I had some great battles with the AI, more so than I ever did on the last game.
My biggest complaint is the track editor, which was my addiction on the previous version. I like some of the track features they added, but to edit a section, you have to delete all the way back to that section, you cant just replace or remove an obstacle like you could before. I like to test the track, then change it up to improve the flow, etc..Now you will have to delete everything created after that section you want to alter, no bueno.
All in all, happy I purchased it. I definitely feel the game has improved. yes, a lot of it is copy/paste from MES1, but they put the development where it matters, the riding experience.

The Vital MX group on PS4 is still up and running. I created it not just for MX games but for all games so that Vital members could play online games together instead of playing with a bunch of randoms.

Anyone in the group can start a party and join. I can't remember the total amount of members but I think it's over 80 maybe more.

There's one for Xbox as well.

For PS4, just search Vital MX in the communities and it should appear. For anyone looking to join, just send a request along with your Vital screename and I'll eventually get around to it.

I haven't bought MES2 yet and I'm still debating if it's worth spending $110 CAD on it.

Edit: Forgot to mention, racing with the guys from Vital was a lot more enjoyable. Everyone raced clean and there was no intentional take outs.

Hope the zoom tweaks make it better for you, man. I know having the camera zoomed in where I want it makes a big difference to me.

Got a chance to play a bit last night and anyone saying this is a copy and paste from the first game hasn't played it. I started my career with all assists off on the hardest difficulty and it is tough. The biggest difference I noticed is how much more important it is to have rhythm and get through sections smoothly. There is no more of the case every jump and still fly through the section bullshit; I had one section in my heat where I fucked up and went from 2nd to 6th because it slowed me down so much, as it should.

In my one race, it took me until the end of qualifying to get a single decent lap in and I ended up 9th. In my heat I got a good start and led for about a lap before I crashed and ended up just making the main in 9th. In the main I ran 4th for damn near the entire thing before I crashed late and ended up 13th. It was tough as hell, but it is fun and rewarding. Just from my very limited time with it I felt like it was a big step from the last game.

im not at home but isn't it 3 starts per category?

Basic and Intermediate level have 3 stages of training in each category worth 3 stars each. The Advanced level has 4 stages worth 3 stars each. Totaling 30 stars per category. It is kind of odd that they do the phases by 10's with this setup.
I didn't realize there was more training after the initial 3 tiers

It's a blast dude. DirtMike and I had some damn good battles. ProKawi too. It was a good time on MES 1. If anyone wants to play MES1 I am absolutely horrible in Glendale!

I am sure I could find the answer in these pages somewhere, but can someone give me a summary of the differences between the standard and special editions? And is it worth the extra money for the special?

There have been about 5 pages added since I last looked at this thread and I'm not interested in catching myself up at the moment. However, since release, I've put about 13 hours into the game, maxed out all the training, and I've learned a few things that may be useful to you all.

First off, training does improve the experience of the game, however, it's not as significant as you would think. For example, I am still about the same pace on here as I was GP Pro as well as battle with the exact same individuals, most of which with zero training completion. So it's not as dramatic as it was in Pro, but I do notice a difference, personally.

If you are wanting to get the most significant results with as little time as possible, steer clear of the scrub and reflex categories. You would expect that maxing out the reflex category would result in Alessi performance off the line, but I've noticed no correlation between training and holeshots in online lobbies. The scrub category is a miss altogether for me as I historically don't use the wonky scrub in all of their games. This game is no different in that the scrub animation is just terrible. There are better ways to scrub jumps by leaning and turning than that shitty animation.

The categories that are useful: landing, cornering, and leaning. Leaning is perhaps the most useful category, with noticeable improvements with every 10 stars achieved. Cornering comes second with the improved breaking. Couple these two at max and you can finally keep up with realistic AI in those flat 180 turns. Without and it's almost impossible not to lose 4 seconds every time the track loops back onto the start straight. Landing is the next most useful with somewhat significant improvements on maneuverability in-air. All three combined gives the game a feeling similar to GP Pro with training maxed out as well.

I still have a bone to pick with Milestone regarding this whole "training" thing in the first place. I can deal if it's implemented like GP Pro, where you can knock all of them out in sequence in about 30 min. This whole "scheduling your week" bullshit is exactly that, bullshit. It's like they couldn't make the game challenging enough and had to rig the system against the player to keep them interested. It's just a bummer to me when I beat the realistic AI on my first race yet had to grind out 4 seasons of career just to do training. Real big miss on that one, Milestone.

Other notes: the online multiplayer and collisions have improved tremendously from their previous 3 games. You can actually race hard in lobbies without having to worry about collisions destroying other riders without your intentions. So once you finish your training and have finally reached your limit on headstart races with the realistic AI, go ahead and hop into a multiplayer lobby where the real competition is and you can truly enjoy the game.

BTW, for my fellow Vitards gaming on XB1, add me @scrallex and join my lobbies. The more the merrier!

They need to unlock the training. I get modifying the bikes and leveling up to make them faster but making the physics worse unless you train is just stupid. This should be a function you can turn off. I like everything about the games except this and the turning. Maybe it gets better when you unlock the training but I don’t want to try to scrub a jump 20 times till I land it right. I just want to race the championship.

I did the 250 west then into the 450. Wondering if I should have stayed for the 250 east. On 450 training I have to beat tomac in a time trial. He's hitting 1:19 and I'm around a 10 second difference. Are the time trials easier on the 250s? I feel I'm never going to open up the intermediate training levels. The one on one's I already have the max, but TT I suck at. There's gotta be somewhere on that compound track to pick up time, I just can figure out where.

It is really cool that adjusting the suspension makes it turn and handle better or worse too lol and 1st lap lines or ruts are crucial to setting up the rest of the moto. Just like in real life the ruts are needed to go the fastest through the turns and they need to be on the correct lines.

Already over the training gimmick, hopefully they update at some point to make it an option. Hamstringing the physics to force you to hit some turns and jump some doubles in a training mode is weak. Just let me shred. Its all I ask.

i dont post much on vital but if anybody looking for another racer to add, ps4 twentythreemx .. i was against ordering til yesterday so amazon will be delivering tomorrow... hoping its tolerable. i sold sx1 right after because mx atv all out came out and i thought it was more fun at the time. then i realized how bad the game play was there and just didnt touch a console mx game again til yesterday. all out got a lot better with recent patches but still plays like shit, its just fun to whip. looking forward to sx2.

Have a question hoping someone can answer for me... my biggest complaint with all SX/MX games I’ve played is how unrealistic the rythem through the jumps are. In real life it’s obviously critical to not case or over jump but in every game I’ve played not only do you not fall when you don’t hit your mark(landing on downside of jump face) but it’s the fastest method as well.

So i was initially excited when i checked out this video when the reviewer spoke about “how critical it was not to case over shoot jumps or you’ll be thrown off the bike immediately”. That was until i noticed the entire time he’s talking he’s literally casing jump after jump and/or landing 30 ft past the landing spot sometimes coming down on top of the bowl turns yet would continue on like nothing happened? Haven’t played the game yet but have pretty low expectations this issue has been addressed based on the online gameplay I’ve viewed.

1) Do my eyes deceive me or is he not doing exactly what he’s saying you can’t do in the game without crashing?

2) Why can’t they make a game(aka Madskills MX) where you’re actually rewarded for hitting your marks? Surely it can’t be that difficult...

Thanks in advance for the enlightenment...

just did my first few races. that 250 is possessed. I cant keep it on the track.slow no handling etc. I agree on making you suffer through bad physics is lame. just make the ai faster. I like building the bike as you go but the riding is so bad. hopefully everything unlocked and a built bike will change the game. a couple of times I can see the potential. whoops and ruts are a big plus.

Could be the physics setup??? I run advanced physics with no rider aides other than semi-trans and I routinely get thrown from the bike when I case the big triple or if I try to send it in a rhythm section and case my landing. I was in a total mudder last night and the last 3 laps I just double everything cus I was losing too much time crashing when coming up short.

Did they fix the lag when the gate drops on the older consoles? That pissed me off the most about the last one

Also, I know a lot of people talking about getting their bike leveled up. Different strokes, but just like in other sports games, I just pick my favorite rider and play championship mode. Correct graphics, gear, all bikes leveled up.

That's my preference of play in sports games anyway. To create my slow ass to race against Tomac is the ultimate in hypocrisy as far as wanting to be realistic. Smile So I just play thru seasons as my favorite rider/team just like I would in NHL, etc.

So if I got this right ( even in PC version ) if you decide to just race single events or championship mode as one of the factory guy's , physic's are all unlocked correct?

There’s a penalty for casing jumps in this game, but it doesn’t seem like flat landings have an impact.
