It would be interesting to know what information was learned from Westons accident. Is there room for improvement? Did it beat expectations? Fly could turn that negative into a positive going forward from a real world accident. I think its a move in the right direction.

What about VICIS football helmet tech? The helmets are 1500 but theyre like the most concussion proof ever created in history so far.

You mad bro? I said I'm sure it's a great helmet. Just not sure what the big deal is when it's quite literally the same tech...

Not even remotely the same tech - no idea where you see all that video - and put that together...
The a stars is a nice helmet - but it's the SAME tech the fly f2 is - TLD, Fox, etc.

No helmet would have worked for weston.

Helmets aren't designed and cant' be designed to take the impact of a 230 lb bike and 150 lb rider falling at speed from a height - at least not if they will do anything to save your head in a normal type crash.

Weston didn't suffer a concussion....but the impact force crushed his face.

Basic physics apply to all helmet technology. It's why it's a hard segment to improve on. If we had no OTHER requirements - helmets need to be 5 feet around....and a softer foam. But we DO have other requirements.

Show me the data. Test all the heavy hitters and show me the data.
I've seen some of it, vs every helmet sold today.

They wont publish it - out of respect and core values to all other companies on the market.

And for that reason I as well WONT comment on the surprise dud of the testing.

This helmet wasn't a quick 1 year project, it's been an ongoing desire from the staff to improve where they could - and they hired some really smart people to be involved. The video you say - with the "fake lab coats' aren't fake lab coats or people.

I WILL SAY - if I ride - i WILL be riding in one of these. If it wasnt this - it would be a 6d.

Now that looks like it could really work well for dirtbikes, probably phenomenally well for trials riders.

Cant comment. I like the company and some of their offerings are on par with the others.

Lol I’m with this guy. At clearance time $400 helmets go for $180. I live in the clearance section at RMATV and Motosport.

Looks like a really sweet helmet. Too bad they won't publish the test data, I'd like to see it. I hope the Astar SM10 helmet is not the dud as I just bought one...

Snell is required by road race courses... if it was as bad as you say it wouldnt be required. Also bell was able to get mips and a snell rating..

Thats unfortunate that a lot of people could be risking serious injury by buying the “dud” and never know.

Trust me it isn’t. There is a new FIM test that is for rotational impacts and it was twice as absorbative as it needed to be to pass the test.

We should make a go fund me to send off the 5 best helmets, plus a $100 polycarb helmet to Act Labs to get the data for ourselves.

Agree. How about for the safety of the people we publish the results so they can take every precaution possible.

People will stilll continue to buy all the brands. Budgets, style, brand loyalty, and other factors will still be important. Post the results and benchmark to what is acceptable.

Auto makers do it all the time. Crash test safety rating.

Only in moto do we keep secrets.

I just wish these new helmets, boots, goggles, etc weren't so expensive. Yeah most of the adults and kids racing amateur nationals can probably afford it, but when I go to my local track I seen a lot of people there who don't have much money and the kids are wearing used gear or the cheapest gear they can get. Not many of your local riders can afford to pay $650 for a helmet and $600 for boots on top of paying 9 grand for a bike. I have a $500 6D and I'm not gonna shelf it and pay $650 for a helmet that is potentially a little better.

$650... phew.

Id like to know how this helmet is better than a bell moto9. Decided on the $400 one from bell. Why pay $250 more for this one? The hi-viz looks badass but damn are they expensive.
colintrax wrote:
It's a better helmet, not even a question. Is it worth $250? That's up to your wallet and brain
How do you know it's a better helmet? Lets see some proof.
This. There are a bunch of helmet makes & models out there who all meet the same certifications (dot/snell etc.) that range in price from $100 to $600+. But i can't find any data or proof that the $600 helmet is better then the $100 one

And no this is not me trying to save some bucks (i have a eur 600 arai helmet)

I don't know why Weston keeps being brought up. If you watch the crash his head is right on the top of a lip when another bike 50/50s that lip causing there engine case to bottom out/smash Westons head. No helmet is built for that kind of impact. I feel like most haven't even seen the crash and assume the guy just rolled over Westons head with there tires and that's just not the case (no pun intended)
