Just listened to Racer X podcast and they mentioned Jmart is probably out for SX. So with AP and ZO moving up to the 4fiddys, there will be a new SX champion in the 250 class. Any word on rookies making their pro debut?

Ac and forkner have it. Throw ferrandis in the mix if you want.

Marchbanks will be making his pro sx debut

AC 92 and Ferrandis. Jordan Smith as well in my opinion. Not sure Forkner can stay off the ground.

Jmart should take the entire year off and make sure he is 100%. He is already a title champion. Nothing more to prove in that class.

No way bro. He points out after this year and then retires.

Can you blame him though? He’d be another unemployed 450 rider.

One of the worst career moves in Supercross is winning a 250 Supercross title or pointing out.

Ask Broc Tickle, Malcolm Stewart, Justin Bogle, Wil Hahn, and the numerous other riders that were booted out of the class after winning a regional title that had to take low to no pay 450 rides due to having limited options in the 450 class. Forced to take a pay cut after winning their titles.

It would suck winning the 250SX title for sure...You're better off winning D-16 +40B title..(career-wise that is)..

Jmart doesn't have an SX title. So if he races or not shouldn't change if there will be a new 250 SX champ

Haven't you guys learned anything, Justin Cooper will dominate. (According to NY Motocross is something like that)

I personally would like to see Craig win a W or E SX Championship.

Broc Tickle won his title in his 5th season on a 250. How many years did he have left? He earned a spot on RCH then eventually Red Bull KTM. Would he be given Dungey's spot at KTM had he gotten 2nd in points that year?

Malcolm Stewart turned pro in 2011 and won his title in 2014. Malcolm was lucky to land himself a spot on GEICO after struggling to find a ride after racing nationals the season prior for TLD. If he didn't land himself a spot on GEICO, he probably would have been a privateer in the 450 class the following year but instead won a title with GEICO and earned a spot on JGR. I doubt he would have got the opportunity to ride for JGR had he not won his title.

Justin Bogle turned pro at the end of 2011 and won his title in 2015. How many years left did he have in 250s? He landed himself a spot at RCH. Do you think his career would have gone differently if he lost the title to Davalos, stayed in 250s another year, then move up? There's no way of knowing if a 450 spot would have been available the following year... especially if he didn't win a title in 250s.

Wil Hahn turned pro in 2008 and didn't win a title until 2013. Unfortunately Wil suffered a few really bad injuries, but do you think his career would be any different had he lost to Musquin in 2013? Would he land himself a spot on a factory team if he went 8-9 years without winning a title, let alone a race up until that season?

It's a shame that these guys work their asses off for years to finally achieve a goal they've been working forwards their entire life, only to be forced to move up and land themselves on factory rides. Career suicide they say...

Probably? I wasn't aware anyone was expecting him to. He's just barely out road biking, there's no rushing this injury even he knows this.

Actually Malcolm did not get a ride and had to privateer it in 2017. Was looking like the same for 2018 until Bogle Bogle’d.

And Bogle rode a 450 for Geico in 16 after winning his 250 title in 15.

And yet, Marty has a good salary on a 250 ride, so does JMart who won his first 250 National title in 2014, and most of these guys do not.

Most of the 450 rides these guys got were worth less money than the 250 rides they had before. Just because they are under the awning doesn't mean they are getting good money to ride there.

How many of the contenders the 250 class that if they won would get a guaranteed 450 Factory ride?

Where does McElrath land if he wins a title and is bumped out? Factory KTM? Both Marvin and Cooper aren't going anywhere in 2020. Or Hampshire? Does he unseat Roczen and Seely? If Davalos did win the title and point out, it'd basically be a championship and retirement party at the same time.

Yes the accolade of winning the title is important, but for the potential top 10 450 guy, winning that regional title puts you in a point of no return.

Also look at how well davalos did on the 450s outdoors when he rode for husky. He crushed it. Still no ride available. Back to 250s. It isnt for a lack of trying or talent or speed from him.

How many titles did Pieck and Phil get before going to JGR???

So your argument is that riders should purposely lose races and championships to further their career in the 250 class? I see your side of it, but I must say idiots come in all shapes and sizes. Your argument should be that the point out system should be revoked, not that winning an AMA Supercross Championship is career suicide.

Broc Tickles best 450 contract wasn't even half of what he made his last year on a 250.

Mookie has never had a paying 450 ride, bonus only. He was offered two 450 rides the year prior to his 250 title, but chose to stay 250 because of money.

Bogles only has one year of actually getting paid, he has been riding for free with bonuses.

Wil Hahn made good money his first year on a 450 because he was under contract and Geico honored it. His Kawasaki contracts weren't even half.

Meanwhile, Davalos makes 350 a year winning qualifiers and getting on tv. Still think they are better off?

I like what Osborne said, "why would I move to a 450 and struggle to make a 60 to 100k when I can stay on a 250 and make 350 to 400? "

Making the 250 SX class one series would solve these sandbagging/pay discrepency problems, it would also improve the competition in both classes.

It would also cost a lot of riders their jobs too.

In my opinion, they need to get rid of the point out rule all together. It's a professional class, how in the world can they sandbag? Having Riders point out is absolutely stupid.
