You just pull a lever and the train takes off (from what I seen from one of the beginning missions)

Are you guys taking the honorable route or dishonorable?

I’m long past that mission. This is actually driving it. As for the other I’m going honorable mostly.

What’s the difference? Like, being a nice guy or a dick?

Yes. Your behavior with other people have an impact on your reputation and how people react when they see you.

This game is nuts. Because of the insane amount of detail, its cool to just slow down and play at a more natural pace.

I have PS4 pro and 4k, I'm assuming it picks the highest res? Didn't see anywhere in the settings.. Regardless what setting it is on, for an open world game, it's stunning at times.

The mission where you get drunk as a skunk with Lenny is awesome.
The kill cam (final shot animation) will also change depending on your honorable/dishonorable. My greetings to people have gotten savage as fuck haha

I see where its suggested to change controls in accessibility from "push to run" to "toggle to run" to help some clunky handling. Great game.
Been staying honorable then I will play less honorable next time through if i do it again.

i put in another 3 hours last night (up to about 12 hrs and early in Chapter 2) and didn't do a single mission. i've just been messing around trying to get used to the game because gameplay wise it's very different than RDR. here's a couple things i've changed/done...

in the "Control Settings" change it to "1st person standard" and "toggle to run". mashing the A/X button to run is clunky and a pain in the ass. this change allows you to click in the left thumbstick to run and keeps running. probably the best setting change in the game. the horse "run" will still be the A/X button.

change the "Control Setting" button press to 2x or 3x. what this does is make it so in the moments when you have to mash a button (opening a chest or getting out of a grapple in a fist fight) you don't have to mash it as much, it basically 1 button press will equal 2/3.

hold the Options button (pause) to quick-open the map.

if you have a waypoint set or are riding to a mission with your gang, you can hold the "change view" button to enter cinematic mode. doing this the horse will follow the route automatically and all you have to do is hold the run button. i do this so that i can get a drink of my whiskey while traveling.

with a gun unholstered and aiming, push the directional pad Up and then fire. this will aim in the sky and fire a warning shot.

upgrade the medicine, food, and ammo tents at your camp right off the bat. then you can load up with everything you need for free before leaving the camp. also upgrade Dutch's tent so that you can add the map to yours. adding the map to yours will give you the ability to fast travel.

progress through the story to get the "Fence" vendor available. i had a ton of jewelry i couldn't sell because it was stolen, but the Fence vendor will pay handsomely.

use your binoculars to "Study" before hunting. after you study you can hit R1 to show the info for the prey and there will be some stars associated with it. 1 star prey is "Poor", 3 star is "Perfect". don't settle for any less than 2 stars.

for hunting, always use "Scent Cover Up". this will allow you to get close enough for a one-shot kill which will net you a cleaner body/pelt.

your horse can hold up to 3 outfits at all times. i store a summer outfit, a winter outfit, and a random outfit in there. that way if i start a mission that takes me into the mountains i can change to a cold-weather outfit. the weather actually affects your health and stamina, so keep an eye on it.

brush and feed your horse often to build the bond level as well as it helps the horses health and stamina levels.

always carry at least one "Horse Revival" with you. the horses have perma-death, so if one gets killed then you have to start over with a new horse.

i'm still trying to learn how to be faster with multiple enemies around me. if you get yourself into the middle of them they will take you down quick. one place in particular is an abandoned house just outside of St. Denis, i've tried multiple times to clear them out and they whoop my ass. i'm wondering if it's something for down the line in the game so it's max fortified?

i've tried the dual wielding with 2 Schofield revolvers and it's helping but sometimes it's just better to turn-tail and run.

i'm also still trying to learn what foods to eat and tonics to drink, that's probably where i'm struggling the most. there's so many different items and affects that i get overwhelmed. then i get into a fight and am low on stamina or dead-eye.

love this game.

Great tips there - some of those I didn't know, like the scouting with binoculars when hunting etc. Luckily I happened to have a revival kit on me when I totalled my horse one time... I know it sounds utterly absurd but Iv'e grown really attached to my $15 (I think it was) horse. Would be gutted to lose her.

The game is fantastic but also very overwhelming, especially upon the beginning of chapter 2. I'm at ease with it now but there's so much to do, so many menus and things to learn once you get down from the mountains. You can't really charge into it otherwise you're going to burn out. It's very much more an rpg than the original and so I treat it more along the lines of a sort of life simulator, going at my own pace and doing what I fancy.

My favourite thing is how you can mark an area on your map with the sole intention of going somewhere specially to do something, but then find yourself distracted along the way into something completely different. That's the mark of a very well made game. Some of these side distractions/quests/moments can end up being just as memorable as the main missions.

same on intentions of heading somewhere only to get distracted and do something else. i was headed to the lumber yard for a stranger quest and 2 hours later i still hadn't made it.

i had one encounter that i came across a guy that was rambling on about stalking some girl that appeared to live alone in a cabin. he mentioned he would peek in the windows and shit. was pretty wild. anyway i responded with an "antagonize" and he got all offended and got on his horse and left. i was looking around his camp and he had like 20 pictures of naked women strung up in his tent. totally caught me off guard. it ended up being a tip to a home-robbery, i haven't made it over to the house yet but now i'm interested in seeing what the deal is. there is so much detail to this game.

also... anyone make it to the swamps yet? the mud and muck is similar to the snow but has a heavier weight/feel to it. i threw a dead guy in and he got completely covered under the mud. like the water filled in around the mud hole and over top of him. the mud/snow physics are just amazing. kept making me think of a moto game using these mud physics, would be rad.

also, St.Denis is a sprawling city. unreal the detail in every building, road, alley, sidewalk, park, etc.

Glad you guys are all enjoying playing the game. Me on the other hand, I'm still trying to track down my copy. The delivery company is fucking clueless. I called them on Monday and they told me that the other office/terminal was going to give me a call shortly. They never did and they didn't call yesterday either.

I called them up again about 10 minutes ago and the guy tells me it's at the other office and asked for my number. I gave it to him and told him they were supposed to call me on Monday and they didn't. I then asked him if I could get the number to the other office so I could call them myself, his response was I'm sorry but we don't have their number we just have the old one. Then he tells me he sent them an urgent email to call me ASAP and hung up. So now I'm waiting for a call, again.

I got my other package (Collector's Edition Guide Book) from them just fine on Friday and yesterday the tracking number for that was still showing out for delivery.

Like I said, clueless.

The only positive is that shipping was free so I didn't have to pay for that. Good thing or I'd be even more pissed off.

man that sucks to get burned like that. especially when you ordered the upgraded edition and the guide to get the most of the game. fuckin' bummer.

to be honest i would have already caved in and bought the damn game either at a store or online then made the company you bought it from pay for it.

Agree with peelout. Buy the game somewhere else, use your time to get your money back on the first game. I thought you said you bought directly from Rockstar. Send them an email and explain the situation.

I more than likely would have done that if I had pre-ordered the regular edition but I pre-ordered the ultimate edition for $120 CAD.

I bought it directly from Rockstar. Bought other games from them before with no issues. I'm not sure how the game got to Canada but since they turned it over to these guys it's been a shit show.

I know there's Canadians on this board so if you ever need to ship something or buy something and it needs to be delivered and there's an option with these guys listed, stay away from TForce Integrated Solutions.

Oh, and I'm still waiting for that phone call.

I follow the story from the camp but I mostly just aim toward highlighted people of interest and any direction that looks good and take long ways to see more and encounter more little missions, hunting is fun. Have only used dead eye a couple times. I don't know if it's my Battlefield experience but have had no trouble mowing down all groups of posses, thugs, lawmen, bounty hunters etc for the most part. Have a few grand and never upgraded my camp, headed there now.
Weirdest encounter just now in swamp area. I saw a bunch of torches in the woods and came up on ... the KKK. Yep. A group of whitehooded people listening to the grand wizard talking about supremacy and lit a huge cross on fire. They told me to stay hushed if I wanted to listen to what the grand wizard had to say. Right then one of their sheets caught on fire and I mowed them down doublefisted and double tapped the wizard. Mumbled that I'd kill every last one of the hooded rats. Lol. Probably an unnecessary addition. Crazy game.
Found a Chelydra serpentina, Big old snapping turtle walking by. Big fan. Lol I'm on the 12th treasure map. And found some fossils and other collectable for tasks. Good times.

Should have left the KKK guys alone. At one point they set themselves on fire by leaning against the cross.

it's actually not the KKK, it's the religious group the Chelonians but yeah they are clearly a nod towards that. you meet them on a mission for Mary.

i was down south and came across a guy hanging in a tree with some stuff under him. so i get off my horse and go over and am looting when i get surrounded by 6 guys wearing body/face paint like voodoo fuckers and they stab my ass to death before i can realize what's happening. it was pretty wild.

really loving all the random encounters.

Those guys scared me so bad but I somehow killed them. The serial killer sites are neatly disturbing to if you’ve found any yet.

No I dealt with the chelonians already and their whole deal. The funny part is I am in a few chelonian clubs and donate a ton of money to their conservation so I thought that part was funny but no this was clearly the kkkooks and the grand wizard it was portraying.

Good times.

i was down south and came across a guy hanging in a tree with some stuff under him. so i get off my horse and go over and am looting when i get surrounded by 6 guys wearing body/face paint like voodoo fuckers and they stab my ass to death before i can realize what's happening. it was pretty wild.

really loving all the random encounters.

I just finally changed horses. I loved my original Walker but just going to try some others. This Shire is huge compared to my other horse. I think the smaller cuts through the obstacles and little ledges better.

No I dealt with the chelonians already and their whole deal. The funny part is I am in a few chelonian clubs and donate a ton of money to their conservation so I thought that part was funny but no this was clearly the kkkooks and the grand wizard it was portraying.
