Other features:
-We'll be a able to make the HUD display/mini-map bigger or turn it off completely. There's also the option of just having the compass.
-In first person view you'll be able to examine individual items when you're in a store or simply buy things from a menu. Some of the stores will have more illicit secret businesses in the back rooms.
-Unlike some other games all the weapons you carry will appear on your character. We'll be limited to carrying two long guns (or 1 long gun and a bow), two sidearms, a knife, a lasso, and a bunch of throwables.
-There's a kill cam that changes depending on your honor. When you kill the final person in a gun fight the kill cam will frame the final blow. If you've been an upstanding and honorable they'll be framed in a heroic fashion. If you've been less honorable and not a model citizen the kill cam will be gorier.
-We'll be able to shoot weapons out of enemy hand or break them completely if you hit it dead on.
-Dead eye mode now has five level. Level 1 allows you to slowdown, Level 2 allows you to paint targets over your enemies, Level 3 allows you to manually pick your shooting points. No info on the other levels but Rockstar said that we'll have the ability to highlight critical hit points in the higher levels.
-We'll be able to craft weapons like molotovs.
-We'll have to take care/clean our weapons on the regular because they can rust and jam due to disrepair and environmental conditions.
-We'll be able to intimidate people, scare off animals, etc. by firing warning shots in the air.
-We'll be able to have conversations. If you aim your weapon at someone a contextual menu will appear where you'll be able to verbally defuse a situation or agitate it.
-The eyewitness system returns however in RDR2 instead of killing them or bribing them we'll be able to talk to them in different tones to intimidate them, try and convince them not to report you or beat the crap out of them.
-The melee combat system has been expanded. This time around once you're in a fight you'll be able to grapple, block and throw a variety of punches.
-Hunting will be more realistic. Once you kill an animal you'll see the character get on his hands and knees, plunge his knife into it, carve the pelt from its flesh, peel it off the body, and roll it up into a bundle. The character actually carries the pelt around with him so you'll have to store it on the horse in order to free up his hands. Also, in order to get the meat off the animal you'll have to manually pick up the carcass and carry it to a butcher. Once there we'll have the option to sell it as a whole or have it cut up in cookable components. Time will also play a part in this. If you wait too long to do anything with the pelts or the meat it will start to rot reducing its value and attract vermin's.
-Personal grooming. With time your hair and beard will grow. We'll be able to shave and style the characters hair once it's grown but we will not be able to add length to it if it's short. We'll have to wait for it to grow again.
-Time. Over the course of the game while you're exploring you might come across buildings that are being constructed and over days those will become new stores.
-Hygiene. Hygiene will play a role in the game. Every once in a while your character will have to take a bath and change outfits or townspeople may refuse to talk or serve him based on his appearance.
-Clothes customization. Each character will have different sets to coincide with weather conditions, while customization would allow layering and minor adjustments, like the option to roll up your sleeves or tuck your pants into your boots. The type of clothes you wear will affect your character's performance. For example, if you wear a weighty jacket during a hot summer day, your running stamina will take a big hit.
-Camera. We'll have a camera to take pictures and self-portraits.
-Eating. Your character has 3 core meters (health, stamina & dead eye) and will have to eat in order to keep his well-being topped up.If the character's health falls below a certain level he'll start experiencing dizziness and have trouble walking and will have blurry vision. We'll be able to carry snack around for a quick boost but eating full meals in towns or at camp will be more effective.
-Weight gain and weight loss. Not sure if this will have any effect on your character but if you eat to much you'll gain weight. In order to lose weight you'll more than likely have to run from place to place.
-Skills. In order to raise your stamina level you'll have to run, The more you do certain activities the better your skills will become.
-Horse. Your horse will have its own set of health and stamina meters, and just like your character you'll need to keep it fed as well. You'll also need to keep it clean and brushed, since it can become less effective. You'll also be able to pet your horse, which acts as a mechanism to calm it down after it's been spooked. You'll have to bond with your horse by caring for it and riding it regularly. By doing that you can unlock additional skills and improve its responsiveness. We'll be able to bond with multiple horses and stable them in different locations around the world. There's different breeds to choose from and some will be more suitable for certain task. For example a Clydesdale will be more effective in battle than a Tennessee which is more of an all-arounder. Again with the minor details, the horses will also take shits.
-Horse saddlebags. Your character can only carry a limited amount of weapons so your horse acts as your storage. If you stay in close proximity to your horse you'll have access to your entire arsenal but you'll need to transfer guns onto your character if you decide to stray away from it. We'll be able to move the horse without mounting it by grabbing the reins and leading it on foot. We'll also be able to rob other people's saddlebags.
-Side missions. Side missions will potentially be more involved. Some or all will have multi-part as oppose to one location like the first one.
-Camping will be affected by time. Your crew will not wait for you. Members of your gang who reside at camp will come and go, and finding out where exactly they've gone from others will be the basis of a number of quests and side quests. Day and night cycle will affect who you're able to interact with at camp. For example, You might return to camp and feel the need to eat but your gang's cook might be sleeping.
-Gang members. Gang members will offer to join you on free-roam activities so you'll have access to them just like the story missions. We'll also be able to talk to the gang members at camp including John Marston.
-Swimming. This time around our character will be able to swim.
-Instinct vision. When you're tracking and hunting animals, you can activate what's called the Eagle Eye system. This will display key details in the environment that can help you close in on nearby animals. It can also be used to see the scent coming off your body, a handy detail you can use to determine whether or not you should approach animals who might catch onto your presence.
-Hat. You can easily lose your hat while you're in a gun fight but if someone else loses their hat you can simply pick up one and wear it. What's a cowboy without a hat?

They're still making $400-$500 million a year off GTA V and that was released 5 years ago. I'm not necessarily a fan of micro transactions but from a business point of view I totally get it. It's very profitable. They have a similar plan for the online portion of the game with RDR2.
From what I've read the online portion of the game will only be released/up and running in November and even then it'll be in beta version. Personally I don't really mind since I know I'll be enjoying a lot of hours in story mode. That's where the game will shine the most. I mean why go the extra mile to have horse testicles shrink in the cold if they were simply going to concentrate on the online part where those kinds of details don't really matter. There's no doubt online will be solid, they've had years to perfect it with GTA V.
Game of The Year. Stamp It!
Valentine, The Heartlands, New Hanover
A raucous, rough-and-tumble town in the Heartlands, Valentine’s livestock auctions attract traders, ranchers, cowboys, gamblers, outlaws and prostitutes from far and wide, all looking to make some money, raise some hell, and have a good time.
Annesburg, Roanoke Ridge, New Hanover
Life isn’t easy for the miners and their families in Annesburg, which has been providing coal up and down the Lannahechee River for almost a century. Working conditions are terrible for little pay, and many men have lost their lives down the pit.
Saint Denis, Bayou NWA, Lemoyne
A key gateway into North America with a trade route that runs the length of the country, the bustling city of Saint Denis is a melting pot of cultures and people where businessmen, socialites, sailors, laborers, beggars and thieves all live side by side.
Mount Hagen, Grizzlies, Ambarino
One of the more well-known peaks in the snowy Grizzlies of Ambarino, Mount Hagen towers above Lake Isabella to the west and Beartooth Beck to the east, which provides the main pass through the western mountain range and joins up with the Dakota River further south.
Rhodes, Scarlett Meadows, Lemoyne
Prim and proper on the surface, tensions and corruption run deep in the Southern town of Rhodes, which for years has been caught in the crossfire between the Braithwaites and the Grays, two warring plantation families.
Stawberry, Big Valley, West Elizabeth
Strawberry was little more than a small logging town until the arrival of its new mayor, an East Coast eccentric, who is obsessed with transforming it into a cultural beacon for wealthy tourists, much to the bemusement of the locals.
Lagras, Bayou NWA, Lemoyne
A small, remote settlement out in the swamps of Bayou Nwa, Lemoyne, the people of Lagras live self-sufficiently for the most part, making a little money here and there from fishing and acting as guides for travelers wishing to navigate the region.
I read the game will take up 100 gigs of space and will be the first game of both consoles to do so.
Ps4 players will have access to red dead online mode 30 days before Xbox one players. Also, the “beta” online mode doesn’t start until November (December for Xbox?). Safe to bet it’ll be similar to gta Online.

Some New articles. The one above mentions if your minimap is turned off the npcs will try to help guide you in the right directions. Sounds rad.
The one below mentions There’s 1,000 different voice actors used for the npc’s. And none of them have canned dialogue besides in the cutscenes, they repsond depending on how you interact with them. This article focuses on the fact that every action in this game has consequences. 17 days till release

Me- "Yup"
Here's some gaming stats for RDR2.
- 2,700 actors, all represented by the acting union SAG-AFTRA.
- 2,000 pages of script.
- 1,200 people doing motion-capture.
- 300,000 animations.
- 500,000 lines of dialogues.
- 19 realistic horse breeds.
- Over 200 different animals.
- 50 weapons, all customizable with a variety of barrels, grips, sights, and scopes, all with metals, woods, varnishes, and engravings.
- Online will be 2 to 32 players.
- Full campaign/Story will be around 65 hours and could have been longer. Apparently Rockstar cut five hours from the game, one part of which was scaling back a love interest for main character Arthur Morgan who had 2 love interests. On top of that there's much more to do than the campaign.
- PS4 Pro will need 105 GB of space. About the same for Xbox One X.
- PS4 & Xbox One will need around 90 GB of space.
The best part, the co-founder of Rockstar Games said that Rockstar might make Red Dead Redemption 3, but he isn't committing to it yet. They will only do it "if Red Dead Redemption 2 does well enough and we think we have other interesting things to say."
I'm not sure what he means by "we have other interesting things to say." Just knowing that Red Dead Redemption 3 is a big possiblity is awesome. Not sure how he can top that information.
I think it's pretty safe to say there's going to be a Red Dead Redemption 3.

i can't decide whether to get the physical copy or the digital...
I pre-ordered a special edition and I got an email yesterday letting me know they were getting my order ready. I'll receive a tracking number 1 or 2 days before release day. There's a chance that it shows up on the 25th but guaranteed it'll be at my place the 26th. I pre-ordered a physical copy because I like the contents that comes with it.
Either way the game will still take up 90GB of space or 105GB of space on PS4 pro. Since it pre-downloads it doesn't really matter if you have a slow internet connection as I believe they usually start pre-installing a day or 2 before it's released.
If you go that route don't forget to check your PS4 settings to make sure that your downloads can continue downloading when you put your PS4 in sleep mode.
I just pre-ordered the Red Dead Redemption 2 Complete Official Guide. Bought the collector's edition. I think it's also available on Amazon & Gamestop/EB Games.

My first PS4 died after a couple of months, and I lost all progress, even though I could log on to my account when I got new PS4. I just don’t trust the system enough to work if something happens and I’m 100% digital...
