I've seen JS, RC, AC, RV and I believe this guy tops them all, I guess it's progression but he really is something else.
You've seen them all so in what way does he top RC? Doesn't win more than him by bigger gaps and RC never got hurt except the ACL

How can you hate a guy or a guy like Cairoli who just shows up at a track, anywhere, anytime, and with minimal bike bullshit just puts their head down and hauls ass?

Last year, Herlings didnt even have his own bike!

Of course he's being cocky! He earned it!
Is everyone going to like that attitude? Hell no, but who gives a rip. Until someone beats him, he is the FMOTP. This weekend, there was only one guy that had anything for him, and that was his teammate.
Let him have his day of sunshine, because as we know, the next FMOTP is no more than a few years behind him.

Calling himself that (even if he's right) is more sad than cocky.

I like a quote I read from Mariano Rivera, the best relief pitcher in baseball history. He said "act like you've done it before, act like you're gonna do it again".

There is only one correct response to Herlings:

"Next year, your place. We return the favor."

Say it. Mean it. And actually do it.

He's a throwback on personality! Bob Hannah gave him his playbook I believe............

I like the talk and he backs it up. Just like the hurricane or the greatest of all time, Ali!

Stating facts to be honest I’m American. USA took a hard L, their is no denying it. Assen might even be worse. But Ernee we’ll have a solid chance. That track is legendary. Coldenhoff was incredible this weekend

It's one thing if everyone else calls you the FMOTP, but to call yourself the FMOTP? Different story.

Besides, didn't he get beat by his teammate in the last moto?
Exactly!! Humility is a trait not often enough expressed or appreciated. I’ve said this before that there will come a day when he is on the downside of this ride where he’ll wish he used some of that humility. I’d venture to say it’ll be as soon as Prado moves up and is doing the same thing to him that he’s been doing to AC. he acts like a classless punk when he talks like that....I was all for how he rode until I read his post. Now eff that dude and come ride Supercross

I love how Vital is all pompous and uppity about "humility and grace" all of a sudden Huh Maybe some of y'all should reread your own post history.

Just saw this on his Instagram. Is he being cocky or does he deserve the title, “Fastest Man on the planet.” ? No one on Earth can blame him for feeling on top of the world and celebrating it! His incredible drive to win reminds of of the other greats who have come before himself. You may or may not like his cockiness, but Jesus give him a break! He just turned 24 and rides motocross for a living, is at the peak of human athletic performance, is on a factory 450, and is a millionaire.

In this world that seems to be condemning young men more and more, let's recognize his greatness and let him be his young fighter-pilot self. One who after working hard his whole life, with some tough injuries along the way, has won some great victories.

Please don't put him in the same class as those who kept his grandparents, parents and himself from becoming German.

He rides a dirt bike, just like us, except he is great at it. He is as great at riding a dirt bike as he is poorly at being humble.

At a very basic level, saying something this self absorbed does not make anyone happy for you and your accomplishments.

So he got beat by a 28 year old? Is that what we consider old now?

He won, together with his teammate Hoff jr. Is that what you're trying to say?

Buthurt... it fantastic how sore losers Americans like you are. First they are classless anmd arrogant about all non-Americans riders for about 2 months before the MXoN and now that their asses got whooped you're crying like little bitches.

We were there. Is it cocky and classless? I think a little. Is he the fastest man in outdoor motocross right now. YES!

I never got to interact with him as a fan or even observe how he is with the fans and volunteers of the event(s). I'm not making my mind up on him until I see that. If hes as fast as he is on the track and cool with his fans/general public he can post/run his mouth all he wants. He earned it. If hes a d!ck.. screw him

Young man who is on top of the world right now. Who wouldn't be a little cocky in his position (other than aforementioned Ryan Dungey)?

Just the way he is at this place and time. It will probably change within a couple of years from now.
I mean, Kenny has given a thousand classy and entertaining speeches without being labelled a braggart etc... James, Chad and RV too... There's a wide spectrum between that and mid-2010 Dunge.

Like I said, I don't particularly care, Aussies talk a lot of shit, but it's not that surprising people think he's a dick.

The American motocross community is a fickle bunch. All the old guys pine for a new Hannah to come along and the younger guys complain that there is no personality in riders today, you both get what you want in this kid but you can't stand him because he doesn't race here.

Could you imagine the crap that guys like Hannah, Tripes Wienert or Johnson would post on Instagram? Herlings would seem humble compared to them.

That kid works his ass off to be the best in the world and doesn't care one bit what people think of him, how can you not like him?
