The last KDX220 would be $5800 today if left completely unchanged from 2005. Still would be a nice bike to have at that price, but no estart, no autolube, no counterbalancer, conventional forks, ancient handling. With that said, I'd likely still line up to buy one of those new if Kawi still made them. Probably one of the best pure trail bikes ever made and one they never should have stopped making.
Msrp for the 2006 kdx 200 was 4200, and they were typically available under that. Thats 5000 cpi adjusted to 2018.

Yeah, I get that, but the closer comparison is the 220. From all the reports I've heard, the GPX bike makes very similar power to what the KDX220 did.

Just to be clear, the 220 was the milder tuned, less powerful model of the two.

Not sure I would call it less powerful, it was just all bottom and midrange like the GPX. The 200 reved out a bit more. The 200 is a good bike, I have one in the garage, but the 220 was the better bike for riding the gnar. The KDX was 218cc, the GPX is 224cc. A current owner changed his jetting a bit and added a different CDI and he says it's incredible now. Bills Pipes is also working on a single walled pipe to do away with the double walled version. The double walled version on the KDX robbed lots of power. We replaced ours with an FMF gnarly and couldn't believe how much heavier the stock pipe was. The stock GPX pipe is built the same way now as it was when the engine was in a Yamaha dual sport so there is lots to gain there as well.

I’m going to buy Austrian. Which means I support a ktm plant in Amherst, Ohio. Who employs men and women that support families and love motorcycling.

China why don’t you come up with your own ideas you thieving asshats. I’m not supporting your slave labor, and not supporting your economy anymore than im already forced to.

Quiet, they all think that Japanese samurais hand build their dirt bikes using the same care and craftsmanship as their ancient sword makers.

The Japanese would never outsource manufacturing to a foreign nation, even if they have newer factories and better technology.

Nobody better ever tell them where the parts are made for their beloved Harley Davidson's.

My dad and his friends used to laugh at what they called Jap Junk. They rode Harleys, Ossas, Bultacos, Maicos, CZs, BSAs, etc. Since this is an old thread I've probably already said it but fugit, there will be a day when you will be riding Chinese/Indian/Vietnamese/who knows where bikes. They may say Honda on them or they may say Tao Tao.
