Tell that to Chris Alldredge and see what he thinks.

I did see that. Apparently you didn’t understand my original post about needing a better job.

So you are implying that people should spend every dollar they make on moto just so they can be in the fooper club? You're even dumber than I originally thought.

Just because someone doesn't want to piss away 100K go race foopers for 12 National rounds doesn't mean they need a new job, it means they're smart with their hard earned money.

Considering he is scoring points on a box stock bike and having the time of his life I think he made the right choice.

But go ahead and keep digging...

Where does the "2 strokes are cheaper to maintain argument" come from? I've only ever ridden two strokes but I hate these posts so much, if were talking about average weekend warrior riders, you can get 100+ hours on a 450 top end vs 50 or less on a 125/250 top end. The price of the top end kits is nearly identical. You also don't have to spend $50 on premix every month. What about them is so much cheaper? Please enlighten me. If you're talking about the top pro's then it would be more understandable, but they don't give two shits about how much a rebuild costs.

I have both and love both... but I hate to admit I enjoy a full day at the track on my 450 more than my 250!

Get over it, Ride what you like and STFU!

I'm not sure, I was just quoting Chris.

No, I’m not implying that, you are. You should read this though. https://www.latlmes.com/breaking/chris-alldredge-hates-his-2-stroke-1

Pretty sure Chad Reed disagrees so I'm going to go with that.

With pliers, a hammer and $50.

Not too sure on that..i had this argument on here before. I was looking at getting a well used 2012 yz 250 f.
added up the cost of genuine yamaha parts to rebuild the top end...and a top end on a four stroke isnt just a piston kit and gaskets, it is on a two stroke though!
I bought a pristine very low hour 13 yz 250 f for $3,600 and havent had to touch it.
I might still buy another one of those if I find a chep flogged one and rebuild it with steel valves and all aftermarket stuff as a project that would end up being a practise beater.
to do a top end properly you need all new valves...5 genine yamaha valves comes to over $1000 AUD alone! Then there's the valve springs, keepers, stem seals, cam chain ,cam chain guides and getting someone to do a perfect job of cutting the valve seat to take the new valves....It aint just a piston and rings...
If you blow up your 4 stroke...ie..drop a valve, you are likely going to have to part out the bike as a write off..
yeah yeah...you can get cheap aftermarket parts...steel valve kits etc...but in the end , owning a 2 stroke over a long period of time is cheaper if you ride hard and rebuild your bikes yourself.
im changing the oil every hour on my 450 and it looks disgusting because of the contamination from the clutch, I spend alot more on fully synthetic motor oil than I ever did on two stroke oil .
As for buying a new bike...here in OZ buying a 4 stroke is waaay cheaper. I'm looking at getting another bike at the moment....my preference is a new YZ 250 two stroke , dealer gave me a price of $10,300 but I can buy a new 17 YZ 250f
for $7,700.
you can get most 17 model 450's and even some 18's cheaper than a new yz125 here..

Give it maybe 5 years and ICE will be on the way out and electric will be the thing to have ( but I will still have my 2t - fingers crossed)

Some people like 2 strokes and some people like 4 strokes. Trying to push one vs the other from your pitty stand point makes you look like an idiot. Just ride and stop trying to make everyone feel the way you do.

This stuff reminds me of straight edge punx vs. Gutter punx.

Don’t know where this reliability/dependability myth comes from.

You can mess about getting your carb set up and changing fouled plugs while I hit my start button and ride off on my fi 450.
It’s not really surprising though, some people still prefer horse to cars...

Pre-mix going to get pretty expensive at that point, but it is the future sadly

Love my RM125 and RM250 but when it comes down to it, I'll ride my RMZ250 more than my smokers unless I'm just messing around.
