I doubt Mookie is going to lose much sleep over not racing the outdoors. He will be fine and hope that he can do some racing around the world. As said below Freise, Bowers, Brayton and few others are ok with it also.

Too Bad he rips when he is on it. Never trains though outdoors would have been tough in him. Would have faded nearly every Moto if not every Moto.

the whole thing is actually tarnishing the entire Stewart legacy, JS7 included.

I know that JS7 did things that Malcolm will NEVER do, but I can't be the only one that rolls his eyes and says "Seriously - freakin' Stewarts." JS7 had his own reputation as a bit of a prima donna, and now his brother pulling crap like this just naturally causes people to lump them in together.

The whole thing is just sad.

We all know it's not in his best interest to miss the Nationals, but it comes down to desire and his desire is to not spend the summer doing two 30 +2 races in the heat.
It's his life and career and he gets to call the shots on how he lives it.
I am bummed he won't be lining up,but is it really a surprise?

As much as I hate to say it but the dude can't even hang on without being gassed in a sx main event, those 30+2 motos in the heat would do him in. If he actually trained like those on the top, I think he could do some damage.

Malcolm should stop pretending the reason he's not doing outdoors is because he doesn't have a ride. The reason he doesn't have a ride is because he doesn't want to race outdoors.

So you are saying that there is no purse money in professional motocross? No contingency monies for placing in the pro class? No sponsorship monies other than a Big 6 factory OEM? No 7 figure contract from Seven Gear?

The purse money in the nationals isn't exactly "raking it in"

I'll ask it again. Why is Mookie the only privateer we are skewering over skipping the outdoors?
He is the only privateer that complains that he doesn't have a factory ride come SX. Maybe if he put in the effort outdoors he would have a full factory ride in 19.

It surprises me that people are surprised he's not racing.

Time to get himself back on track to race himself into sx shape through the first 10 rounds of the 2019 sx season.

But those who wish to sit and wait for someone to give them something will always be losers.
Hahahahah this is by far the dumbest example ever... Who in the military is not getting paid and going to work?? Interns are never ever going to be at risk for catastrophic injury... Some rose tented glasses on because I've done interships for "experience" and all the burden was placed on my parents from me not earning a dime while trying to prove my worth.... Fuck that shit pay me... my time is valuable, and if you think I'mma work for free, kick rocks because you clearly don't respect me or my time since I need to prove my worth to you.... (This is not aimed at you directly, more or so a general statement about working for free)

I have actually stopped working before when the person said it's a internship.. just walked out

yes, I'm serious. I'm sorry that it triggered you.

If Lebron James had a younger brother that pulled similar bonehead moves, it becomes sort of a footnote to his legacy. I'm not trying to take away from JS7 as he has chosen his path and it's choice, but his brother's behavior does sort of leave a bad taste in your mouth for the name "Stewart" and that's unfortunate.

So Dave.....if a guy hasn't done outdoors in 5 years , has no real desire to......you think anyone in their right mind would offer him a ride? That's how this sport has....and always will work.

Maybe the reason why nobody is offering Malcolm a descent ride? Because he hasn't even shown what he can do out there in 5 years?

If he is as good at it as some of you think he is.....wouldn't he probably get a full time gig if he proved it?

What you just said , goes completely backwards in the minds of someone starting a business. And in racing...2 wheel or 4 wheel.....you ALWAYS invest in yourself before you ever get help. That is the way it works.

I hire interns frequently and pay them minimum wage (most of the time).
Would it make you feel better if someone offered Malcolm $7.25/hour to go ride a dirt bike. Most of us PAY to do it. He'll be making money, so it's legit then, right?

Your perspective is pretty skewed. You DO have to prove your worth. In virtually every situation in life. And until you do, you get paid squat.

Kinda like Malcolm.

The ones that shut up, eat the humble pie, and PROVE their worth enjoy the fruits of their labor and the respect of their peers/colleagues.

Kinda like Dean Wilson.

My statement wasn't really about Malcolm... It was about everyday working people.

If I was a manager of any of the teams.. he would've had a outdoor ride the season he won his championship... But that's water under the bridge at this point... And since it's racing he will have to prove himself... That I understand... But it's still a losing proposition for many of the teams.

Racing outdoors boils down to contracts and the love of the sport.... At a certain point the love goes away and it's only worth doing if you have a contract... And even then, it still may not be worth it.

Paying interns minimum wage is nice (atleast they can eat). but I've been on a full internship without a stipend only to be told that my hard work for them.. doing everything they wanted on a gold platter.. wasn't good enough... And to kick rocks.. only to learn that it was a scam that the company did on college students.. which skewed my perspective heavily about internships

JGR gave him a bike and told him if he can get in shape he will have a full ride next year?

My statement about the military was meant as not being paid well, as in less than minimum wage starting out considering the hours you put in at work, training , standing duty and all the while definitely being at risk for catastrophic injury (death). I stand by my statement about proving yourself. Malcom has not proven anything in MX and very little in SX. So man up, train and earn it. That is if he really wants it.

And he will wonder why he is not having a ride at the end of this year.
^^^This x1000.

Malcolm really has no interest in riding outdoors. If he did, he would have been busting his ass to get fit and lose weight through SX. Honestly, he never really looked any more fit at rounds 16 and 17 than he did at rounds 2 and 3. That message right there tells any team that he's not really committed to it. I know he has a lot of fanboys who think because he's a Stewart, he's got loads of natural talent and he's a funny guy of social media, that he should get a factory bike for the summer, but those fanboys need to pull their heads out. There are plenty of other guys out there working harder that will beat him at the end of two 30+2 motos. They might now have his talent. But they are willing to work.

Im bummed. I really thought JGR would give him a ride outdoors as an investment in his preperation for 2019. Im worried for mookie now, if we dont see him on a bike outdoors there will be no 2019 offers

Who's fault is that? He was offered an MCR Honda ride for SX 2018 and he ignored the situation. Went at it alone, Bogle got hurt and lucked in a JGR ride.

Why not go with the sure thing (MCR Honda) instead of going at it alone. It wasn't guaranteed that he was going to get a fill-in ride. Had he not got the fill-in ride I don't think he would of done the entire SX series on his own dime.

His results for the last couple outdoor seasons weren't that great so it's no surprise JGR didn't offer him a ride for the nationals. Who in their right mind would spend a whole bunch of money when he hasn't proved much outdoors. Spending a bunch of money for subpar results doesn't make any financial sense. He should invest in himself, prove his worth and then maybe he'll get a full time ride.

If he doesn't want to do outdoors that's his choice but if that's the case he should of taken the MCR Honda ride as he could of possibly secured a 2 year deal. Now he'll be in the same situation as he was at the end of last year. Searching for a ride but that's his problem. He put himself there once again.

As they say you're only as good as your last race. His last outdoor race was back in 2014.

Mookie never looked as good on the JGR as he did on his private bike last year. Just not comfortable. Maybe this is a good thing for him? There is never enough fill in riders for SX even if you don't start the season with a ride. Who knows how his career could have gone if he had ridden outdoors the last 5 years, could have done better, could have been injured and missed SX? Maybe he'll still be doing SX 5 years from now and never do outdoors? Maybe he's just not that good? I am looking forward to the MEC for his return, and likely Alta's debut in SX!

I couldn't care less that he's not riding. What will be ridiculous is if he complains and doesn't understand why he doesn't have a ride when SX comes back around.

I don’t understand this at all....you think his asking price is out of line for his results? Then I see in another thread that Alex Ray is in for a Yamaha ride. Nothing against Alex but my god Malcom would smoke him at any track
Maybe a bit faster for a couple laps... but my strong feeling is that Mookie couldn’t last 15 min before sucking wind and riding back to the rig for a Twinkie and a Coke. Why would Yamaha waste their time with someone who obviously doesn’t take racing serious enough to even last half a main in SX let alone MX. Alex works really hard on his riding and fitness,.. glad to see him get a shot. Bummed he was hurt halfway through the SX season so its good to see him getting some momentum going outdoors.
