What would you do with this $300 1996 CR125R ???

What would you do with this bike?
A. Part out on Ebay/CL?
B. Full ground up rebuild with modern forks/shock?
C. Set it on fire and push it off a cliff?
D. Rebuild OEM stock?





Got to love the mice nest!


I do have the pink but it hasn't been registered in years (DMV backfees = $200+)
I really like the original look. I'm leaning that way....

I would put it on the local CL for 500. Sit on it till it sales, it will! Take that extra coin, buy your woman a nice dinner and your self a case of beer or keep the extra cash till you find same bike in better shape. (or don't tell her and buy a nice snap on ratchet that your tool truck guy will dodge you for weeks once the junk breaks) That bitch looks roasted x10.

Then again,the demon on my shoulder would have me pulling it down and making a multi page part list and turn that three hundo turd into a $2000 turd when it is still in a thousand pieces.

If you have the budget to restore it do it, those were damn good 125s motor wise, even by today's standards. My friend has a 97 and i love riding that bike as much as my KTMs.

C. The ammonia in the mouse urine will have made a mess of the carb and possibly the barrel. Ammonia comfortably corrodes aluminium and enough of it will start to dissolve it. Seen plenty of bikes dragged out of sheds and barns where it has happened.

Bad advice IMO..regardless of what you buy if you plan on doing a full resto your in for a lot of work. This bike is a perfect starter. “Something better” will be $1000+ and he only paid $300! You can buy a lot of parts for $700.

My -86 CR125 was in similar condition before I started rebuilding it. I say rebuild it or sell it to someone who will. I always hate to see when people are parting out bikes that still could be saved

B if you're okay with throwing on some modern triples and twin chambers whilst keeping the stock shock (they work fairly decent with proper rate and revalve) or D! Good score Cool

I can't stand black plastic. I may have my own little bonfire to start off the project.

I do have a front end from a 08 CRF250 laying around.... hum...

I'll have to go through the motor a little, see how bad it is before I decide. It will be a summer project. I have 2 other projects I'm trying to finish up (kx100, kx85) before this one will begin.
