Maybe the rule is to identify the rider, not score the bike. Was that really Marvin? Maybe Marvin is injured and they slipped Dungry in there. Without an outline on the number a 5 can look like a 25.

It's obvious the AMA showed some discretion in Marv's case which they are able to do.

What would be the appropriate penalty for a uniform violation in this case if they enforced it?

Most likely fine I'd say.

It's from the Supercross rule book. It's an actual, current rule for that series.

It may seem silly, and I agree that there's no way that Musquin should be penalized in any way that affects the championship point standings, but it is the rule.

That being said, I could see a small fine if the sanctioning body tells him not to do it again but he did.......

This is the mindset that got us 450cc 4-strokes racing against 250cc 2-strokes......... regulation and changing of dumb rules is very important to our sport's growth.

Scoring isn't the only issue.

Feld is still trying to sell Supercross to the fans. Having bold names and numbers on the back, helps fans identify riders (especially on TV). If the riders go too crazy with their designs, it can be harder for fans to identify the riders.

People make fun of the NFL for their extreme rules about uniforms. But I believe good uniforms are a factor in the success of the NFL.
