Riding a few days after ? I appreciate he is a top pro, but when I badly sprained mine I couldn't even consider riding for 6 weeks. When I eventually could one dab & it was agony. Crazy !

Ouch, that looks horrible. I once had half that size of a sprained ankle and i couldn't put any weight on it for 2 weeks.. yet he is saying he'll be racing. These guys are though.

That's what I was thinking. That looks like a dislocation. He needs and MRI and evaluation with a real good foot/ankle doc. I had a break in my ankle missed when I was in high school. Too swollen at the time to see a small break. I was on crutches for 2 weeks and restricted for a couple more at that time.
There is some thought in the medical community that sprains should be casted and non weight bearing until it heels, or in some cases, surgically repaired.. I ended up with an unstable ankle that easily sprained and know is so shot I should have it fused since it is now bone on bone.
