I reckon I've had more crashes "riding smart" than pushing. Seems illogical but it's easy to lose focus when you're at 75% rather than 95%.

Who knows, might work for Eli. Only problem is if it does come down to the last race, guess who's got the momentum?

Baggett finished 11th in the second moto luckily for Tomac. Had he finished 2nd again, he would now be 14 or 15pts behind him with 4 motos to go. That would make him able to win it with a 1-1 1-1

Dungey knew exactly how to back it down to salvage points but not let the guys up front totally smoke him. I don't think Eli has figured out how to go "just fast enough"...it's either on or off.

6 straight moto wins! Not at all what I was expecting to see. But if he came out and smoked them all beast mode style everyone would hop back on the bandwagon. Hopefully Eli gets it figured out and does just that.

Glad you posted it. Was gonna do the same. Something has changed in the last several years. I guess when you have a good points lead now you cruise. As a side note, dude might be hurt as well. Either way, he'll be an millionaire after his career. Me? Not so much.

I think Dungey just had the speed and comfort dialed. His "took what he could get" or "just fast enough" would just happen to be a top 3.
Get a good start, ride your pace. Dungeys pace was basically always top 5 plus a good start = usual top 3. Today Tomacs pace happened to be top 10, IMO (If he isn't hurt or something).

It's a lot more likely for Tomac to go 1st or 2nd the next motos than to do worse than 10th, which is what it would take with the points lead he has.

I agree with you on that. The announcers say how great a rider is riding now. Hell a lot of the good riders are all injured. Also 20 minute motos and a shortened track today sucked!!! 30 + 2 laps rain or shine, on the complete track. They are racing dirt bikes, Its OK to get them muddy, ask John Dowd or Doug Henry about mud races outdoors. MX Sports is all about the money and the TV deals. Run the races as they should be run, rain or shine, except if it is lightning.

When I raced last century if I tried to cruise it in for a win I damn near shit myself with all the close calls I'd have. Riding differently than you normally would always seem sketchy to me.
