He was pitting with our Nor Cal boys KJ McKenzie and Garret Ioppolo. He had motor mount issues causing the spark plug to spin out. We borrowed parts off of Jarid Blevins #331 smoker (another Nor Cal shredder.) The bike ran but we could hear a little rattle in the motor. My daughter seen in the photo even offered to try and rebuild the thing before moto 2 but Stank said he'd ride it like it was. He headed out with Ioppolo but apparently the bike was not up to the task. Too bad. Stank is a bad dude and would have been shredding in moto 2.

he basically is the only guy at his level doing any kind of "testing" and development, basically fleshing out the bike and its gremlins

There is a huge difference between a stock or bolt-on modified 125 vs a full blown race bike that has to go compete with those 250Fs. You cannot directly compare the reliability of Gared's bike with a stock one that the public is going to buy and ride at a normal pace. PC Kawi has had how many mechanicals this year??? I don't hear anyone saying the 2017/18 KX250F is unreliable - why is it any different for Gared? Oh, because he is on a 2 stroke.
I am fairly certain he is still getting help from the dealerships which probably has some form of parts allowance or maybe at cost.
Some of these issues he is having would probably be solved if his current mechanic and engine builder were to put more time and effort into testing. But that's a hard feat the way they do things.
Another thing is I am not 100% sure Gared is the type of person Husky want's on their payroll. Sure he has a huge fan base, but he likes to party, drink beer, and very outspoken, etc. so he is not the clean cut, well mannered guy like Davalos or Wilson. Unless you can actually prove he is selling Husky 125, why would you pay more to let him do what he is doing on his own for free, for his own personal marketing?
Pit Row
I'm not saying his bike is worse then any of the 250f's but he is the ONLY two stroke and is under a microscope. In the racer X interview he said he had no mechanic for washougal. It makes sense for Husky to help him. Parts and a mechanic would do the trick.
As far as his image goes...He rode for them in arenacross. Marketing isn't always about a squeaky clean image. Is the free marketing really helpful with all the DNF's he has had between last yr and last weekend?
