I personally like the change. Like every change, people will start off hating and it will grow on em. But I applaud them for trying something new.

That's the spirit! As for the YZ 2 stroke line, lets embrace change!!! Even if it's only on the fashion aspect...... Now, out out of curiosity, I wonder what color the wheels will be in 2027 when Yamaha tries to wow us all with their "proven" 2 stroke line of Motocross weapons?? Purple perhaps? That color hue they've danced with before....

Man its so much better than Black, I was a race the other day and pretty much every single bike had black rims except for 3 bikes, one guy had gold rims on both of his RMZ's and there was one random Honda with red rims. Blacks the most over rated colour for a set of rims, EVERYBODY HAS BLACK RIMS! do something different. Black rims look shit after about 50 Hrs anyway.

I'm thinking of buying a 2018 TC250 and I think one of the first things Ill do is get a set of different coloured rims.

Reminds me of the color matching bmx bikes of the 80's where everything from the tires to brake pads grips etc all matched.
And the 70's.

I'd like to see more color on the bikes.
Blue rims with maybe red hubs.
Or the other way around.
I would say anodize the frame too, but of the one's I've seen, very few look good.
There is an all black YZ though that looks rad!

Man, so much hate on the black. I'm not gonna say everyone doesn't have it......but the truth is, black looks good. Theres just some things that aesthetically "work", and black seems to be one of em. Were you this butthurt about silver 15 years ago when evvvvvvveryone had silver. I'm all for change and I think the blue looks good......but black will remain a good look on a dirt bike.

As Guy B pointed out last month, those rims are most likely photoshopped. They are not that blue. I'm more a regular old silver rim guy myself, but I don't really have anything against the blue that Cooper is running - which is not as blue as the picture you've posted. In the end, does it really matter? They're not going to add any speed, power or tractability.
Saw a post on instagram my buddy got a 2018 and it did indeed have blue rims
Thats not his point, his point is that they are blue but look a lot darker in the photo than whats true.

I know hard anodize can actually make the frame stiffer believe it or not, but why not normal anodize the frame?

In their defense I sold two yz 250s and bought a 15 250sx. That was a big mistake back to yz for now.

Just got off the phone with Yamaha and was informed that there is a production delay on the 450s. Ship dates are tentative for September. Hopefully they come sooner than later, I have a bunch of these on order..

Parts fiches have been out for a week or so on 250s, 125s and some off-road bikes. Nothing yet for the 450 unless I'm looking in the wrong spot on the dealer site. Hopefully we know something soon!

Edit: 450 fiche only available on yamaha dealer site through pmpro. Dates for these bikes are all over the place, just checked this morning and it is now showing an available date of 8/28.

I saw the fiches on their parts catalogue app yesterday. True, other models have been available for a few weeks.

I also received an email yesterday from Rocky Mountain about oil filters on sale for the 2018 450.

Thanks for the update on availability date. Hope they don't delay too much, I can't wait to get mine!

I prefer silver rims. Ever seen a colored rear rim after its been mounted for a while. Riding in the sand takes the color off in a hurry. Other terrain with scratch them up also. Rocks really do a number on them. And your bike will not be any faster. Just sayin'....

Well according to the Yamaha order desk it's on a production delay. I handle all the motocross business at the dealership I work at amongst a lot of other things but hopefully it's not a long delay.

My dealer gave me a heads up this morning, should be getting them in early next week. I mentioned if he has heard of any production delays from Yamaha and he said no and confirmed with Yamaha on it. Crossing my fingers. I sold my 17 yz450 and only riding my yz 2 stroke at the moment which I can't complain but I sure do miss the thumper already

I had my dealer check with Yamaha Canada this morning. Official word at the moment would be limited quantity to hit dealerships 08/21, and the rest of the first production run mid-October.

It's real simple.... For 2018, if you were to purchase a new Yamaha, it's gonna have blue rims. To hell with the shade, hue, shine, gloss..... the fuckers are blue. Now, should said shade of blue not tickle your fancy, there is a plethora of companies offering the aforementioned products in a color that should be able to please...... Good luck.
Or, you could buy the white one with black wheels if you are looking at a 250 or 450f. Yamaha, unlike the rest of the oem's gives you a color choice.

The 450 will start showing up in the next two weeks.

Minus rumors or here-say, were there any official statements saying that Yamaha was going to homologate it early? Just curious.
