KTM has already released pictures/information and we have not seen anything from big red. Anything out there?

Back to traditional oil forks but it has updated showa forks AND rear shock, first ever dual overhead cam on a Honda R, true dual headers, same 450 frame and direct down flow intake, and electric start. We're not all sure what else the baby has but all we've seen so far is just visual. Apparently the numbers this thing is going to be pushing out are way better than any 250 on the market according to some including tons of over rev and top end. Here's the link..

yes, motor wise it raced at the last Japanese round in stock form and won against modified 250's...so its going to be strong no doubt.

Americans! You always got everything first. Any news about new CRF250. In other forum named 22 of October but it was Sunday maybe therefore no news Smile When you will get first bikes and we could read shoot outs?

Pulpmx.com has the first ride review podcast from Kris Keefer. They say it's an all around better bike than the 17. A little less bottom end off idle but everywhere after that it's more power, they think it's better top end overrev than the ktm and Yamaha. His shootout is the middle of November, sounds like it will be a top 3 bike.

Sounds much improved on handling and suspension as well.

No. When average rider will get first bike and when VitalMX will get CRF250 and write 250 2018 shootout?

From Keefers first impression sounds like Honda built a serious race bike thats not afraid of topend power. Should be interesting to see how it stacks up against the rest of the class.

It's interesting, the new 450 is a monster and it sounds like this 250f will be a bit rev happy. Their bikes have been so "mellow" the last several years.

Yeah the way they described the engine sounded a lot like the KTM. Not a lot of bottom end but lots of power up in the RPMs.

It sounded very promising!

Did they copy KTMs wider piston and larger valves with shorter stroke? I think that was what made MX2 MXGP Suzukis competitive this year as well.

Well that's smart. Keefer said the 18 has a 48 tooth stock sprocket, the 17 has a 49 stock, that's one big reason why the 18 has a little less bottom end (unless they totally changed all the internal gearing ratios? To compensate). I know from gearing changes on my 16 that 1 tooth makes a big difference, I ran a 48 for longer pulling gears but settled on 14 52.

Sounds like the bike is extremely rev happy. Would love to see Barcia ride it Smile

14,400 RPM redline...thats insane. What did 125 two strokes redline at?

One thing I cant help but comment on is the weight. Even if it has a KTM like powerband and power its still carrying around 10 lbs extra compared to the KTM/Husky. Where is all that weight lost at on the Austrian bikes?

125 are not even close to those rpms. Peak HP is at around 11.000, max 12.000.
